I literally started screaming “NO” when Mat pulled out the mouthwash. Be warned people, don’t mix spice and mint. Yes, mint is cold so you would think it could help. The problem is two fold. One, mint activates different receptors in your mouth, so it doesn’t cancel out the spice. Two, when your body feels something cold and warm/hot at the same time, you body translates those signal as extra hot. That (especially combined with the alcohol of mouthwash) is a recipe for HELLFIRE IN YOUR MOUTH.

Whoever suggested mint to you, was *TROLLING* you. Mint has the opposite effective of spice, but rather than counteracting spice, it adds to it. It's like mixing blue and yellow, expecting green, but getting an impossible color, bluish-yellow, instead and being eye strained into a migraine. The result is, as expected, temperature neutral, but your receptors are so confused by the conflicting signals that it all just registers as pure undefined pain. I already conducted this experiment in high school.
