It would be an understatement to say that current times have been especially tough for street food vendors, most who manage to earn barely enough for the day without much of a safety net to fall back upon. Against this backdrop, we were moved to hear of the struggles of a young engineering student who almost single handedly, with his mother, embarked upon a street cart venture to rescue his father and family from a crippling financial setback. And in the course of doing so, reconnected his father with a delicious North Karnataka snack tradition. In this street food episode, I stop by at Chitradurga Girmit Mandakki Centre to meet Ullas Basavaraju and his father, and also taste the Chitradurga mirchi in a scrumptiously delicious spicy avatar, some girmit mandakki masala and a rather intriguingly named ‘operation bajji’! One challenge i see in this is that, these recipes have to be eaten fresh as soon as they are prepared and thus there is no way to depend on home delivery,swiggy etc. Hope this video helps them to sustain in this tough times!! Thanks for this amazing job Kripal sir
