Hello Mike, I assume this was April 9th and 10th? Finally after 2 years a new Mega Record & CD fair was held and after 25 years in Utrecht, this was the first one in Brabanthallen, Den Bosch (or 's- Hertogenbosch). Wasn't able to make it; would have loved to meet you. Have been following your You Tube channel for quite some time now and you turned me onto a bunch or great jazz artists (being a rock/metal/progessive fan); always so cool when you discover new stuff and get turned onto new genres and artists. So much still to discover and enjoy! Thanks for all the videos and updates. Keep 'em coming. Regards from The Netherlands!

They call bootlegs 'alternative pressings' now ! All the time I sold records there, some dealers were scared shitless because of getting caught selling bootlegs. There was always a English guy with all the high end Led Zeppelin bootlegs from Japan and he was almost paranoid. Great to see, living in Germany now, might go to the November fair. Thanks !!

I miss the Utrecht fair so much and seeing this footage has me itching to return to the Netherlands although I'll miss the familiarity of Utrecht. First went in 2007 and what an experience. Overwhelming but incredible. You can find bargains and you can treat yourself to higher end stuff at median discogs prices. Bought numerous wall records for decent prices. But as the prices of records continue to rise I know those 500 euro records 10 years ago would be more like 1500 euros these days.

It’s interesting how collectors like you are going to Europe to find many of these records bc I thought you could find most of these originals from any used record stores in the US. Well, I’ve been out of collecting for about 20 years and I guess it’s getting harder and harder to find these records in used record stores in the US But I am glad to see vinyl coming back and now having more value. Haven’t gone to a used record store in about 20 years and I guess certain records are costing more now.

Also didn’t know certain albums were now hard to get… anyway, I just got back into vinyl records again after a 20 year absence. 20 years ago, seem like everyone was going digital and vinyl had no value and threw out so many records. I’m killing my self bc 20 years ago, my collection was about 20 years old and from the 80’s. Now I gotta do my research on prices and what label they are on or which label has more value. Seems like records are getting to be like comic book collecting and wish there was a price guide to look up prices like with comics. Anyway, thanks for the video and info.

What a huge pain in the ass to insure, store and ship all those American seller's records to Europe and back. As a buyer/collector it sounds and looks like absolute Candyland but as a seller a bit of a logistical nightmare. How do you secure what you buy from day to day at such a show? I mean, Having tens of thousands of dollars sitting in my hotel room with only a "Do Not Disturb" sign on security? Are there companies that insure your entire trip? Great video, as usual. Thanks!

Maybe I'm tight but I go to record fairs to pick up cheap stuff, bargains and mis-priced stock. I don't think I've ever asked to see a record displayed on the wall, I just presume that dealers aren't going to price their stock such that it falls into any of these categories. Maybe if you're looking to do a bit of geographical arbitrage and sell to a different territory it might be worth it I guess.

What is scary and annoying is how much “collectors” who buy to invest have rocketed prices! I bought a Neil Young at the Cellar Door 180g a few years back for £33. It’s now changing hands here for 3 times that! DSOTM 30th Anniversary Gatefold is now also silly money ditto first pressings of Sergeant peppers lonely hearts club. I avoid record fairs as much of what’s on offer at our audio shows here is overpriced and haggling is pointless. Collectors should find a different hobby and let us music lovers have our cake and eat it😂😂😂 The flip side is where master tapes are still good and where new albums are concerned, the sound quality of vinyl has never been better and this has a knock on effect on the industry. I’ve had customers wanting to upgrade cartridges purely because they’ve bought enough decent vinyl to warrant it and others commissioning new speaker builds from me for the same reason. We’re in a 2nd Golden Era of LPs and long may it continue, it’s a win win for all concerned except prices have got too much for most LPs .

I used to go to the WMFU show when it was in Manhattan, back in the early 2000s. Dealer setup was 10-4 on Friday, and then they offered early admission for $25 that was good for all three days. I'd go on Friday - some of my friends were dealers. The dealers had to line up in their cars on 19th Street because no parking was available. Guys carrying wads of money would walk up and down the line, knocking on car windows and asking to see the good stuff. One of my friends sold $9000 worth to a Japanese dealer before he even got into the show. He asked me, why does he even bother spending three days sitting on a stood selling $20 records to American collectors when he's made all his profit already.
