I work on construction sites like these and the houses are built of the cheapest available materials, to the legal minimum standard, as quickly as possible. Not surprised someone got pissed over pay, or that the buildings fell apart so easily.

Having to deal with major companies is difficult as they are arrogant, I was owed only £800 but it was the principle of being paid for the work done. I was lucky in the fact that this company owned and managed a large office building with only one exit and entrance so I did give them fair warning that someone might dump a very large amount of manure directly outside your gates, the only way forward is to settle my bill as gesture of good will for providing this information. I got my money within 24 hours and called off the farmer and his trolly of manure.

If you break that agreement with your lazy attitude of "you'll be paid when I pay you, not when you decide!" So should I wait 1 week for my money you owe me? Maybe 1 month or even a year since you will pay me when you decide!? No man would do this if the developer had contacted him and explained the delay of his pay. Never play with a workers money.

Nothing much changes, especially when it comes to profiteering and poor construction standards. In 17th century London new buildings were collapsing all over the place as a burgeoning populace needed housing check the history . Labour are going to build 1•5 million homes over the next five years: who is going to monitor standards and are we simply going to be building tomorrow's slums today. PS I saw new homes being built back in the very early 'eighties and marvelled at the cheapness involved in their construction. They are still standing but it can't be long before remedial work will be needed on them. Still, the original occupiers have moved on as have the builders so the problem's going to be someone elses.
