How Much I Feed My Flowerhorn in One Day

This is the usual amount of food I feed Pollock each day. The main part is looking at his stomach bulge to determine how much to feed each day. I look for a small bulge after the last meal of the day. I feed once in the morning, and the last meal of the day is before the light goes out. Second meal is whenever I have time, but sometimes it is skipped. If skipped, I feed him more during the last meal so that he would have a little bulge in his stomach.
I do power feed him once a month or so, then starve him for 2 days or so, or until his stomach bulge has subsided.

This is sooo cute, I felt so much love from this! My flowerhorn gets fed twice a day by meal worms and he is a big fella... I feed him pellets through out the day because every time I pass by he begs for food... My parents don't feed him until there's a bulge at night, they just feed him what the fish store clerk says and it's so sad.

flowerhorns can turn very dark when they are stressed. the dark color will disappear when he gets settled in and feeling better. yea, flowerhorns will eat pretty much any fish food, but some can be picky eaters. try to get fish food with at least 40% protein. or check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGbVeX6Dls17f8k

that's a very small fh. try internal parasite medicine like metronidazole or prozipro. is he eating?

I was told by the seller he is kamfa, but I think he's more of a zz. maybe a mix. you have a nice fh. great red color all through out the body. I'm guessing yours is a red dragon breed.

pretty much the same rule applies, imo. but for an adult fh, I wouldn't feed 3 times a day. more like once or twice a day until there's a little or hardly any bulge. if fed twice, a little bulge after the second meal. This is not set in stone or anything, but it's what works for me. If there's a big bulge all the time, I think it's too hard on the fish's digestive system. and that could lead to bloat or other health problems down the line, imo.

it really depends on how big your flowerhorn gets. I think it's possible if you have enough filtration for a full grown flowerhorn and do big water changes each week. for a 12 inch flowerhorn, I think it'll be fine. but if yours turn out to be a monster sized, you might have to get a bigger one. but you don't have to worry for 2 years or so.

Hey what’s up bro me again. So I just got my 4” srd fh shipped to me from Thailand and I live in LA. As soon as I got him I made sure to acclimate him and I also added some of my tank water every 10 mins for an hour. My water parameters are good. Temperature is good but when I put him in after an hour he just sunk to the bottom. He hasn’t thrashed around or anything like that. What do you think it is?

wow, yea, the trip probably was very hard on him. give him a few days to settle into the new water. in the mean time, feed him, but don't bother him. just leave him alone until he gets his strength back.

Yes, it takes a week or more for you FH to get used to things and you. Try to provide him with a hiding place like ceramic pot or rocks.
