I think he had a wonderful life filled with the music he loved & a wife, a daughter, family & friends & fans. Traveling to perform in concerts & answering questions in q & a's for his fans. Greg was a poet & storyteller & I think he genuinely liked people. Greg was a good human being & soul. I pray his soul found the peace he didn't have while dying from cancer. 🙏🙏❤️🙏😢. Greg I loved your music, your smile, your warmth , & you are missed.

I can promise you that Greg Lake is at peace and is content. I discovered his music years after his death just as I had done with another musical genius. I was so taken with him as a person and artist that I decided that I would write his biography, as there isn’t one. I spent two long, hard years finding everything I could about him and thought I was ready to write a first draft. That’s when I discovered that I had been an extremely good scientific writer but I cannot write a biography! At all! What I am telling you is absolutely true. It is one of the most important events in my life. Soon after realizing that I couldn’t write it, I was having a silent conversation with my constant “companion.” I live in quarantine because my health is so bad and it has given me lots of time to develop a relationship with Him that is difficult for people to understand. In any case, I told Him that I wished I could tell the artist about how much his life and music had meant to me and so many others. I had discovered him at a very low point when it had become obvious that my condition was deteriorating and that nothing can be done medically. I told Him that I wanted to tell the artist that he had given me a reason to continue living. I jokingly said: Can You send him to let me talk to him? The next afternoon as the sun was setting, my dog and I were on my bed. Through the open doorway, the spirit of the deceased man walked into my room. I looked at Jude and he looked at me. We looked back but the spirit was no longer visible. Jude, however, could sense what I could not. He began quietly going woof woof. He had never ever done that. I began talking, with my words rushing out to explain to him what was in my heart, how his life had affected me and how I wished his music had been in my whole adult life, instead of only a couple of years. Jude woofed about ten minutes and just about everything I needed to say had been said. Jude became quiet and I knew he was gone. I am still amazed that I had that experience. Everything that I believed in my faith had been validated. I hadn’t asked for validation but that is exactly what I got. I know Greg Lake was a good man, just as this other artist was. I imagine that they have met. I hope so. They have a lot in common.

Gotta hand it to England. They gave the world so many brilliant artists. Especially evident during the 70's. (Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Renaissance, ELP) These British singer/musicians/songwriters have got the DNA of Shakespeare in them. Its amazing.
@saccola87806 жыл бұрын
I've often wondered that myself and bet you've hit the nail on the head about as closely as possible. Lots of these groups said American rockers & rollers such as Chuck Berry or Elvis Presley influenced them but look at how many British singers/musicians also had classical music training. Think that could also be a factor.

Thank you! We are a deeply lyrical people with a wild imagination....on the quiet!!! Being a small, independent island nation has a lot to do with it. We were..I hope, still are, deeply individualistic. All the sea, sky, the rain, clouds...the ever changing weather & scenery. You're right. We carry Shakespeare, Chaucer, Keats et al, within us. The great rock musicians of the 60s and 70s were also pastoral, lyrical, surreal poets - the direct inheritors of Wordsworth, John Claire, Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear. Think of Syd Barrett. And yet they could also draw down the Gods with their raw rock power. (Led Zep's Kashmir at Knebworth!!) They were a remarkable generation. I was only a child in the 60s, but my brother and sister were 6 years older and I listened with them. You could feel the creativity in the air. This incendiary music just didn't stop coming. Amazing!! All the best and thank you for your kind words about my country. Please wish us luck, as we fight for our independence from the EU.

Greg Lake was one of the most talented musicians in Progressive Rock. With an angelic distinctive voice. When you heard it, you instantly who it was. He had so much talent. As a songwriter, acoustic guitar, electric guitarist, bass keyboard player, harmonica, he could play them all. But his greatest instrument was that angelic voice. When he sang it instantly touched your heart and soul. And let’s face it, in his younger days he was a gorgeous man with a smile like soft sunshine, even in photographs of him it washes over you, I can only imagine what that smile would have been like in person. My biggest regret is never to have had the opportunity to meet him. You are always loved and forever missed Greg.

Their music transcends space and time, and at the same time brings back memories from centuries long ago, and in other lives, that make it even more majestic and surreal. Greg Lake so perfect on his guitar, and Emerson with his magical keyboard playing, and Palmer's psychedelic drumming made them a phenomenon in Britain and around the World. I'm so glad I saw them in concert, early 90's, at the Gorge in George, in Eastern Washington. A double bill with Jethro Tull! The best concert I can remember. RIP Keith and Greg!

Footprints In the Snow.....Greg Lake has given years to music. Thank you!! First time when you looked at me You tried to hide but I could see A special beauty in your eyes Passion flying like a spark Like an arrow to the mark I feel it sting my jealousy Before you know there's footprints in the snow Desire like a river flows Where it comes from no one knows Love just like a flower grows And then God only knows It comes down like guillotine Now I feel the rain Of love torn by a hurricane One night eclipsed the sun How deep still waters run How deep they go like footprints in the snow Take my love into your brest Commit my spirit to the test You wwill see him like a knight His armour gleams We'll fly upon his angel's wings Above the clouds in rainbow rings We can sail a ship of dreams Chorus If you will take my hand We can cross this desert made of sand We can break in through the ice And feel the wind of paradise We'll feel it blow our footprints in the snow Anytime you feel alone Just raise your hand, pick up the phone Take in my number, there I'll be If one day your stars won't shine I will give you some of mine Cause they could fall so easily We both know there's footprints in the snow Emerson, Lake & Palmer
