@@esqu3l3to can you help me, the thing the light goes into in this video isn't holding my bulb anymore and the little metal pieces you bend outward to get the metal piece off broke, so you know what the piece the bulb goes into is called or where I can get a new one?

excellent video, thank you so much. On the drivers side (UK RHD) I ended up unscrewing the diagnostic port mount with the T20 and then eased the port connector out pressing down 3 retainers. On the passenger side I am yet to succeed.....really tightly held in there!

Thanks for the good feedback. Ok, good info to know for others in the UK. They do make all things nice and fit properly in these cars which I think its great.

Are you still able to adjust the brightness in the MFI now that you're using LEDs?
@esqu3l3to2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can still adjust the brightness. They work like the standard bulbs without issues.

Hi Where did you take power for the strip light
@esqu3l3to Жыл бұрын
Hello, I took the power for the strip directly from the light itself. When you remove the oem light, cut the led strip wire long enough to fold over then slide it into the connector for both negative and positive wires. Then you can push in the oem light, it will hold it in place while providing power to the led strip and work with dimming like the oem.

Hi ive done the passenger side but i dont have the right screwdriver for the driver side. Do you know what size it is to get the plastic tray covering the wires is?
@esqu3l3to2 жыл бұрын
You can use a butter knife, flat enough to bend the small tabs out. I used a small flat head one

T10 red led? buying links please And im mk6 jetta 2012. How to Foot well lights install?
@esqu3l3to5 жыл бұрын
The link is at the bottom of the description box. My gti came with oem footwell lights, I simply replaced the bulbs. You should be able to tell if your jetta has them, just have a look and then make sure on your MFI that they are turned up.

@@esqu3l3to the factory LEDS on the footwells are only 1 color there are about 6 or 8 fiber optic illumination strips on the door, the bottom door jam (not sure of the technical term) that glow red im not sure if its able to be changed color it was a customers car and i didnt play around with the settings

+Esqu3l3to Thanks for the video. Did you just solder the + and - onto the light bulb fixture? Min 3:35 is the part I am referring to. If not how did you wire them?
@esqu3l3to8 жыл бұрын
+Mike Salapow you don't need to solder these lights in, they are wedge bulbs so you simply pull them out and push in the replacements. My gti came with the footwell lights already installed I simply changed the halogens to LED. If yours didn't come with factory lights you can still install them. Here is a link to one of my videos of my lancer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3fJdJiXYpeendE

Thanks, I was referring to the LED Strip =)
@esqu3l3to8 жыл бұрын
+Mike Salapow hey man, sorry for the late reply but I just noticed your comment. I did not solder the wires, what I did was to connect them by first connecting the LED wires to the pins in the light assembly then sliding on the power connector. that way they stayed on without having to splice into the harness. hope that makes sense.

I check the ebay link, I have a 2014 MK6 Wolfsberg GTO and it's telling me it's not compatible. What model is your car? I thought all mk6 would generally be the same so I dunno how yours fit.
@esqu3l3to8 жыл бұрын
+Ron Tang hey man, mine is a 2011 mk6 gti. Do you happen to know the bulb type for yours? Some sites on ebay will say they are not compatible even tho they may be. Best thing to do is to search for the bulb type as I did. Some bulb numbers are interchangeable with others like the front park lights are T10 or w5w which are the same. I can't recall the type mine are but I will check again and they may be the same type for yours.

Can anyone help me please, I have LED strips under my dash and glove box and I'm connecting them to the fuse box but i cant find the right fuse to turn them on when i turn on my headlights. They come on when i turn on my car and stay on till the cars off. Any idea where that fuse would be?? Much appreciated!!
@esqu3l3to8 жыл бұрын
your best/easier solution would be to install a switch that you manually turn them on/off instead of splicing into your headlight harness. Do you have footwell lights? if you do you can tap into those instead so the LED strips will light up when you unlock your car and open your doors then turn off after you lock your door.

Esqu3l3to This is exactly what I want to do... Tie the led strip into factory footwell lights. On my footwell lights, which wire is positive and which is negative? Is it distinguished by color, or do I have to use a volt meter to check? Did u ground the negative wire to a bolt, or did u splice into both the positive and negative wires? Thank you!
@esqu3l3to5 жыл бұрын
I cannot recall which wire is which as I did not have to splice into the wires. Yes use a volt meter to find the positive wire. I have seen wirimg harnesses that piggy-back of the factory plug. Let me do some searching and see if I can find a link. If not you can just splice onto the harness.
