India has no national language. Either English or Hindi could be used as the day-to-day lingua franca. Philippines is another country like that. Tagalog was spoken but never written, as far as I know. But Indonesia has their own language, spoken and written, because the Dutch paid attention to that during the colonial period. Two Dutch scholars/linguists, Winstedt and Ophuysen, started to systemise Malay language as a written language for the colony. After the liberation, Indonesia refined the language further twice to become the language we know today. China should be proud that it has the oldest national and written language in the world. No one could alter that. Indians shouldn't be proud of adopting foreign language as a lingua franca, especially when the English they speak is heavily coloured by their Tamil accent. Anyone who has experience with their Call Centres could testify how difficult it is to understand what they are saying.

It is fine for a scale-down SCO 2023 India Summit 2023 Virtual Summit. Main agenda of this event is New membership for IRAN. I do not think Beijing would mind much. Xi met Putin face-to-face in March 2023, met 5 presidents of Central Asia countries face-to-face in March 2023, met Iran president in Feb 2023. And also in Aug 2023, there will be in-person BRICS Summit in S Africa, with chance of Xi meeting Modi and/or Putin. Plus Xi may attend G20 India 2023 in Sept 2023. So Xi did not particularly need spotlight of SCO, saving the travel to India.

The whole blame China thing is more a way to divert the attention away from their own domestic issues. Like what the Americans are doing with all the China is bad stuff. Another way to divert attention is war so there is a common enemy. I think it will be a great loss for India if it continues to pivot towards the US at the expense of the SCO and BRICS. Already, independent analysts are saying that India is undermining BRICS and the SCO, and there would come to a point where India might have to leave these two organisations or that new organisations be created to serve the interests of the other members of BRICS and the SCO. India needs to stop considering BRICS and the SCO as a zero-sum game and look at the wider interests of other members, including all those aspiring countries wanting to join BRICS and SCO. If BRICS and SCO bring common prosperity to all members of these two organisations, India will prosper too. Although India will lose voting rights like all other members upon expansion of BRICS and SCO, India will maintain its influence because of its population size and growing economy. However, if India chooses to continue to undermine BRICS and the SCO, it will become more isolated and lose influence in BRICS, SCO and the Global South.

The credit rating degrading itself is a huge/costly problem in the bonds market for future borrowing - and penalties from Chinese banks will likely be costly too. Chinese firms cut off electric power to the Pakistanis due to non-payment. This is a social calamity to have no electricity for houses and businesses. Since, the partition of Kashmir is seen as permanent, an agreement made under the joint guarantee of SCO would be more practical; with it India will be linked directly to the Eurasian landmass. Using a common rail-road link is more sustainable to all the players involved. If India is thinking of derailing the BRI links, she is simply wasting her time since all the rest of the members have agreed and the scenario will be further enhanced by the proposed HSR rail link between China and Russia and indeed with all the land-locked nations located within the region. Getting some pride by bending down may offer some free broadcasts from the media of the West but will not change the scenario in anyway! In today's scenario, yes, the West still call the shot but for how long?
