More fundamentally, this rework is just unfun to fight against. He has insanely safe defensive moves (a dodge bash is already one of the safer defensive options, but he has the fullblock cancel on top of that), and his offense is unstoppable, as he just chains safe unblockable into undodgeable unblockable, and I generally feel like I'm not allowed to use my character's moveset against him and the only option I have is to play his game, it's super demoralizing.

As barak pointed out as well the bash itself is extremely safe, with the conquerer being able to full block dodge attacks and then switch off to avoid a guard break. This however needs practice but still the bash is practically unpunishable without a dodge bash or a early dodge,which is quite infuriating

The timing for this though is so ridiculous. Trust me you're not bumping into the tip 2% everymatch. You'll catch 90% of all conqs with the gb after a missed bash, trust me I've been doing it all week.

Tbh I know its safe but everyone gbs me when they dodge my bash and vice versa. Maybe its too early to say that but I feel like that wont be an issue unless your around Baraks level

Speaking of Conqs Feats, Punch Through is Actually Useless now do to the main form of chip dmg being from heavies are now Unblockable

exactly, i believe only the zone does chip damage now. lights are not enhanced so they don't do dmg and heavies as u said are unblockable now. probably the most useless feat in the game for conq

Freeze I feel like you’ve missed a big thing which is that his infinite chain doesn’t go down in damage like hitos. It would help limit unblockable spam and urge the conq play to not nearly be as impressive damage numbers wise

I've heard that the reaction with fullblock recovery cancel is easier if you always buffer fullblock on whiff and then get out of fullblock if they don't dodge attack. But I have no idea if this is true as I imagine it completely relies on the time it takes to exit full block.

For the warden rework they slightly made the weapon bigger to match his new hitboxes but they didn't do it here and I kinda get why since his flail is constantly used in executions and emotes and just making the chain bigger would require readjusting a bunch of those so they don't look off. Or they could go full on fantasy and give him a retractable chain, conq will get a grappling hook as chase now.

So, let me understand, they gave conq infinite unblockable heavies, a faintable bash after any attack, an incredibly safe dodge bash with big dmg, good hitboxes, a full block that can cancel all recoveries and every part of his kit completely counter other full blocks... seems perfectly balanced to me ffs they where doing pretty good with the last reworks.

I knew I wasn't crazy. So many times I got a good read on the unblockable and tried interrupting with a light only to still be guardbroken, and i thought i was doing something wrong. Turns out feinting the heavy is LITERALLY unpunishable... Damn

You do know that's what he said, right? You aren't supposed to be able to Interrupt the chain, the light was mentioned to punish UB feint into GB, nothing more. So that in fact was working as intended

@@ladymisfit193 Actualy that is not good for a fighting game. If it was a turn based game or rpg that is fine. But in a fighting game if everyone is op it just became a game of dice and skill just flies out of the window. For card games, turn based combat, isometric games and rpg that is fine but not for mobas and fighting games.

The only thing I just wish they would give gladiator is dodge recovery after a wiffed toestab.. since conq dropped I've been playing nothing but glad. Conq is pretty weak against glad.

Maybe they could just make conq only able to light after the bash. That would fix the hit stun and stop people from complaining about the executing from bash. Plus his mixup will be more fair to play against with the recovery being shorter

Talking about hitboxes being too large... That has always been the reason i dont like to engage in a teamfight with a JJ in my team. I usually leave him alone or peel one of the enemies away. Don't wanna get hit and interrupted all the time by my own team

I have had buffered light interrupt attempts not get GBd - do you think guard switch could play a role here, or did I just fight Conquerors that didn't feint to GB properly?

I just want that first TG version of conq with the undodgeable heavies, fast chain bash, and chargeable unblockables in-chain back. Being able to pick between being a bash/undodgeable mixup boi and a beefy unblockable mixup boi in chain by charging the heavies felt awesome, and charging a heavy mid chain just to bait your opponent into trying to light interrupt so you could flow straight from the charge into full guard or a conq "deflect" felt incredibly satisfying and engaging, and much more fair than our current boi with constant fast unblockables that are always hella frame advantaged. I much preferred having to choose between the bash/undodgeable chain mixup (a bit weaker risk/reward numbers than a good UB heavy mixup, but it was frame advantaged and fast) and the heavier, more imposing unblockable charge heavies that sacrificed frame advantage and let your opponent breathe, but had a lot more damage potential. I understand why people complained about that first TG conq as being "just another copy paste bash/undodgeable chain mixup character" after having seen like 5 other characters use that exact sort of mixup, but I thought that version of conq had a badass flow and a really cool duality of different types of offense that allowed for distinct playstyles depending on player preference. This new conq is just always bash mixups in neutral, UB heavy mixups in chain. The feintable bash is cool, but ultimately obsolete next to the far superior risk/reward of using a frame advantaged 27 damage UB heavy instead. Oh, and there was also the second conq TG, which was just a totally neutered version of the first one without undodgeables and chargeable chain unblockables. That one was lame. I remember being extremely excited for them to make some minor tweaks, bug fixes, and nerfs to that first reworked conq variant because I liked it so much, but too many people complained, so instead we had to wait like 7 months just to get funny orange man. We got the "conq rework at home" version. I, for one, think we should all unanimously demand they just gut this whole attempt and give us back that first attempt at his rework, with a few tweaks. Even if they have to remove his ability to change his guard while charging his chain charge heavies (since he could flicker them; that is literally the whole reason they removed those: they couldn't fix a bug) I'd still gladly take it. They got so much right that first time and it'll be a shame if a slightly nerfed version of funny orange man is all we get in the end with how cool that older version was.

in chain ubs created flicker like never before, and it was pretty cancerous for the game. That can't come back.

@@chacharealsmooth941 The flicker was caused by changing guard during the charge, but you had no real reason to change guard while already charging the heavy anyway, so why not just lock the guard direction once the player starts charging the chain heavy? That would remove the flicker potential but keep the charge mechanic.

I have a feeling that the hitboxes on Conq's attacks seem weird because, unlike with other heroes' weapons, his flail has actual flail-like physics, so the way it swings around during the hit can vary substantially. Maybe the hitbox range is the maximum range the flail CAN extend to, and if the weapon was static, we'd be able to tell more easily?

Hope they reduce hit stun on flail heavy and bump down the numbers to 15 for heavy and 13 or 12 for light. otherwise i dont dislike the guessing game of conq. I do like the fact that conq forces a different dynamic in ganking since he litterally makes it a 1v1 with his bash light if gankers stick to close to each other .

I don't understand why Ubisoft doesn't make the bash follow up and the FB counter different damage values. They have had the same animation use different properties, like how shaolin's running bash can wall splat while his dodge forward bash doesn't. Or shamans deflect(28dmg) and soft feint from heavy to bleed stab(18dmg) .

My biggest problem with all of this and is also one of the reasons why I don't really play the game anymore is the fact that this is probably going to be the state of the game for the next 3 MONTHS until ubi decides to tone it down a little. why does it take them so long to change a bunch of damage numbers? the raider nerfs, the pirate nerfs, why do they leave the game in such a state for so long, I played literally 2 games of this new season and I was like nope, this ain't it chief, how they implemented such drastic changes without a 3rd TG is beyond me...

Pretty much everything here i agree with, got very little problems with conq except for his hitboxes and that flail stun. Also i dont know if it was just lag but im pretty sure he can soft feint his bash. again dont know if it was laggy opponents but i got hit with it alot yesterday and it had zero feint animation. Just bash indicator and a random gb. I know for a fact that his hard feint gb is reactable, but if he really DOES have a soft feint bash also, you cant play the prediction game then. You have to assume its going to be a gb regardless and if your wrong you get hit with flail uppercut followed by either a 27 dmg move or a gb for 27 dmg also.. Add this to a potential 21-23 dmg mix up for guessing the soft feint wrong, followed by a potential 27 that knocks that mix up for either 48 or a 50 dmg chain. One chain. In my opinion thats a lil strong, being as he has frame advantage AND it limits the opponents options greatly. Thats of course IF its a thing.

We need better feat reworks, but I'm okay with conq as he is at the moment. If they rework things like conqueror or punch through to be more useful than feel free to tweak him in terms of balance to be slightly more fair.

Conq is super orange, but there is one complaint I have, if you get hit by a bash and then also get hit by the free heavy conq is given, once your hit with that heavy you're stunned until the last second . It really sucks they don't give you an option to dodge. It really is, Parry or don't.

Because that would let him chain into bash again, if it gave him a light. As for why that is after a bash, it’s prob a coding thing. We wanted executing full block back but the bash follow up was using that move.

I dont see how his bash being able to execute is not an issue in your eyes, he can literally confirm it off of a heavy parry. And it 4s that deals 23dmg as you said yourself, thats pretty much 1 bar per bash.

It feels like Conq will always be obnoxious, it's as if they can never get it right. With every version of his I find myself dreading both playing and fighting him. Well, apart from spamming rah-rah, that is.

The problem with conq is thst ubi doesn't care about personality with their characters anymore. He was obnoxius because he was only a defensive character. The only needed him to have some more ofensive options to go in and force a better reaction from your oponnent. Now he is a monster on both things.

I also have problem with this full block because he doesnt lose stamina when using to block and he regenerates stamina whilst in it so he regens back the stam he uses going into it. So he has a way too reliable way to get into that riposte hit. If you look at all other full block heroes, they lose stamina as they are hit on it. And if your enemy doesnt have a bash or unblockable at will. They can full block freely since they can cancel into it with zero negatives

Generally, I like a lot of things about this rework, the full block recovery cancel is a great compensatory defence buff, and I LOVE scrutage collection, it's both unique, fitting for conq, and very useful. But I think it's a bit overturned, ideally I think you should be able to outspace and punish it on a read, OR maybe fall for a cancel into all guard? I agree really that the issue lies in the properties of his attacks, really I think adjustments to flail uppercut, giving the two variants separate damage, slightly smaller hitbx on scrutage collection. And a buff to his zone attack.

If conqueror keeps his current fullblock recoveries on every move+his dodge out of fullblock, I don’t think that his riposte damage needs to be very high or different than his shield bash followup. Possible solutions that come to mind: 1-Scutage collection is only accessible from successful fullblock/superior block dodge (24 dmg), bash only confirms uppercut for 14 dmg (20 with shield basher), and uppercut gives medium hit-stun, while scutage gives heavy. 2-Uppercut and scutage are both accessible from bash and any superior block like the live version. Scutage collection could be only confirmed on superior block, feintable, and parryable when not confirmed after a bash. Uppercut could apply medium hitstun while dealing low damage (12) so you could try to dodge a followup heavy, but need to block a light and not be able to interrupt. And Scutage could deal more damage (probably only 20 as it would still partially synergize with shield basher/be a gb mixup), but only apply light hitstun. Making the higher damage option have an interruptible unblockable heavy followup would be a much more interesting mixup, as interrupt attempts would have to be on read and could still be punished with a full guard soft feint on read, and would be beat by a light followup (also on read) which there is currently very little reason to throw. It could be a fun trade off game+mixup option.

Should make them do less damage to enemies that you aren’t locked onto unless it’s a charged heavy so it doesn’t get rid of shugoki’s whole big guy does big swings in team fights identity

I don't do 4v4 but for the bash light chain why did they make it unblockable? if it has such good almost 360 range it would have been more balanced if the light was just normal and the heavy was unblockable. He's pretty unfun to play against, and a good player that plays conq is basically unbeatable unless they make a mistake.

Freeze, I know over the years we've had some bickering, especially about LB and such. But I really do respect that you can admit when you're being hypocritical about something or was wrong. As much as we may have a differ in opinion sometimes you still consistently create good content and have a great opinion on the general status of the game and what could be improved upon. I do still think LB needs some love, especially now that I can't bully Conq mains with him..

I dont see why conqs uppercut cant have 2 damage values based on what move it comes from. Ive also found that while scutage collection has an inconsistent hitbox, maybe because of the animation. It feels like sometimes youve gotta be really close to the conq to be hit by it.

Every new release, I'm baffled by the fact that they removed Orochi's dodge cancel after his kick and give the reworked hero even stronger recoveries on stronger bashes (Shino, Conq). On a side note: The flail uppercut after the bash might be the single strongest move we've had in the game in a good while. It's insane damage for a neutral bash, it has heavy hitstun, it's 100ms into the dodge. Then it's super safe because of the FB recovery and because of the huge hitbox in teamfights while also being pretty fast.

The one I'm most confused by is moving Conqueror's Superior Block punish attacks over to his bash follow-ups. Why was this necessary? Or at the very least, why was it necessary for them to be exact copies? To me, it makes sense to give him regular follow-ups - which is to say, blockable. Either that or tweak their damage.

@@Malidictus When the game first released there was no such thing as uppercut, you would go into full block as Conqueror and you got nothing from it(other than them gbing you). But warlord did get the heavy. Wasn't till half way through year 2 did we see conqs actually using the move because that when they added it. Conqs only moves for the longest times was shield bash and zone.

@@CloppingIsMyThing Oof! That sounds grim. Yeah, Full Block itself is quite the liability since it doesn't work on Unblockables, Bashes or Guard Breaks. Full Block with "nothing" is just depressing. Was this before or after the Black Prior was added? That character feels like a "test drive" for a mechanic to make Full Block better which doesn't seem to have panned out (like Nuxia's Trap). Although I'm guessing here entirely.

I feel like this conc would be fine if they reduce the the hitstun, fixed the hitboxes and slightly lower his damage. Hell I like the idea of a hero being the "orange menace" but in exchange for forcing his enemies into constant fairly easy access mixups he shouldn't be able to deal as much damage, now what number's fine I can't tell but I'm far from an expert, I'm just a rando stating his view on it. Regarding his full block and bash having the same move I think keeping the damage on the lower end doesn't hurt him that much as his superior blocks unlike other heroes don't cost him stamina anymore and are there to bring back or keep his momentum, pulling his enemies back into the orange flail vortex.

@@robinrademacher7984 Thing is unlike other full guards Conc doesn't lose stamina, so having it deal less damage isn't that bad of a tradeoff since the punish is less about the full guard itself in that case and more about being launched back into concs chain.

Execution on bash wasnt an issue for any other character in the game with executions on bash. Why is it such a problem on conq? is it because maybe his bashed has overturned damage or is it just because bashing execution is only broken on conq? Answer that and you understand what needs to be nerfed.

@@CloppingIsMyThing I was a conq main rep 20 on him I don’t think that execution on bash is a problem Characters like shinobi, warmonger, hito and highlander have it and I play them too For me the only problem is the easy high damage that conq has on every bash One thing that would help is making his follow up bash wall splat again, and make that if you press a heavy, he will trow the unblockeable heavy On this way you can choose for a normal bash damage, or a unblockeable mix up like the glad bash with skewer follow up

The most annoying part of conq isn't all of the yellow attacks or bashes, it is the fact that when you get hit with the bash - heavy you are stunned and you cannot dodge, dodge attack, light attack and all you can do is either read and parry or eat the 50/50

I think the main issue is people never had to really choose between 2 and just 2 options. Parry/not parry. Damage values are a problem of course, especially on neutral bash and infinite chain. But maybe the “take this 50/50 for real” thing is not too bad, goes without saying I hate getting my mixup stopped by a measly light. I still think he had to go through testing grounds again before releasing tho, shaolin’s release was justified, conq on the other hand… eh idk about that.

i think conq shouldnt be able to fast flow into full block after a missed bash. I also think he should only be able to do the flail uppercut with a bash and not also do the spin unblockable (to clarify he will still be able to do the spin unblockable but only on full block and superior block. I also would remove the shield basher feat and replace it with a new feat that gives conq some extra damage or health when he gets a full block or a superior block. Finally I think all his chain heavies should be regular heavies. He can access an unblockable heavy by using a full block heavy input (similar to bp) I think this version of conq would be a bit more fun to play as and also against. The new feat puts a focus on some of his nicer defensive abilities and makes his offense a little less annoying and more punishable in certain situations. What do you all think?

The unblockable chains are a bit extreme. I don't mind the usual unblockable after a bash but the whole chain is ridiculous along with the whole extended range just made him an external force to be reckoned with but we constantly asked for a Conq rework and we got it. Honestly the balance to FH is that nothing is really balanced

Conq nerf idea: 1) lower light followup dmg to 14 and make neutral bashes only chain into light follow up (this would make it more in line with other bash openers at 13/14, while still being one if not the strongest, but that was kinda Ubis intent; also this would give more agency to his deflects, now you have to chose between a safe but low dmg option, bash, or a more damaging deflect only option, uppercut) while leaving the uppercut to the other tools, like superior blocks and in chain bash 2) lower the dmg of his in chain unblockables to 22 (this would make his vortex way less of a problem and more in line with another infinite spam character like hitokiri), 27 dmg for infinite unblockables its just ridiculous. (Also if conq needs for some reason to output big dmg, like finish a target off, or in ganks, there’s always the charged neutral heavy) 3) fix the hitstun of the uppercut (nothing fancy here, like freeze highlighted the hitstun creates a weird interaction with a follow up heavy making it a complete 50/50, its confusing, it’s unintuitive and fricking strong in ganks) [sidenote: I’ll even go so far as to say that, if uppercut gets removed from neutral bash and gets its hitstun nerfed, the dmg of the move can even be raised to 20, just sayin] 4) make in chain bash easier to punish with gb, depending on the read and situation (sometimes you feel like you made a hard read, dodged early and still get nothing, iunno feels bad) [disclaimer: this is a change I’m not sure about] *HONORABLE FIXES* - my guy still lacks a roll catcher, heck can’t even use his running attack to do that, can we do something about it? Thnx - can we do away with the feat “break through” the feat is simply usless with the character now as conq doesn’t have an attack that can be blocked for chip dmg, aside from zone but, cmon

I've gotten better at dealing with him so I thinks it's partially getting used to the changes as it is with every new hero or changes. But at the same time the heavy hot stun being better than HL and the damage from bash heavy is kinda nutty. Leading to an exe is also kinda dum. Same as Shinobi heavy after backflip. I think part of the issue with the weapon not reaching the hit box is animation. The current animation does not extend the flail chain as far as it should be at the start/medium range of the attacks. I don't understand why they went with all of the unlockables and no undodgeable...maybe the shield-bash + light should be undodgeable instead of unblockable? Either way it was an unecessary rework, just to pander to the easy mode cheap trash crowd. Homogenizing another hero away from skill based play and unique characteristics...like why the feint addition, already had full block feint?

I feel like feintable bash is kinda pointless since his neutral bash is so strong. And maybe he could have a three hit chain, or a four hit chain heavies and do away with infinite heavies. He slaps honestly. You can flail uppercut all gaurd and back dodge and you create so much space the enemy will whiff attacks. Even gb. And with perks he literally can stall forever whether on point or in mid. I do like him. I just think he's in a very weird spot.

I can’t see why making 80 to 90% of a characters kit unblockable even made it into the game. I understand the need for for a character to have openers but Conq wasn’t lacking in that department. But I think when it comes to Conq's heavies once he's able to feint them like normal and then you add in the 50/50 bash there really wasn't a need to do anything else to his heavy chain

Remove the heavy input after shield bash and only have the light input, boom fixed

Thank you for the detailed breakdown. Slightly smaller hitboxes that closer represent the weapon model wouldn't hurt as would perhaps medium hitstun on the flail uppercut. Damage is an issue particularly with 'Shield Basher', personally I think that both the uppercut and feat damage should be toned down a little. Those nerfs with some kind of roll catch addition would be ideal. Feats are a separate topic and it's no secret Conq has never had the best selection but some replacements need to happen. Having Juggernaut is great and a nerf to shield basher in some form would make that a more attractive pick. Having no good tier 4 is obviously bad but it baffles me that the devs left Conq with 'punch through'. Might be the most redundant feat you could pick.

juggernaut is not a good pick for conq because he has no roll catch. so when using the feat, he has no means of closing the distance at all.

@@verrat3219 A roll catch would help, juggernaut is also useful for stalling. If your opponents got out of range when you pop the feat you're taking no damage as opposed to reduced damage. Roll catch is needed I agree but juggernaut still has value.

I put 10 reps into him LONG ago and i tried the rework. Better kit but that hit stun is whack and im no fan of having a bash heavy that executes.

Honestly, this new demigod conqueror terrifies me. I haven't played against him yet, but from what's been shown he seems very, *very* strong. Especially to a HL main, and one who's been playing Jorm quite a bit lately such as myself. (No dodge attacks.) Guess we'll have to wait and see what the team does with him. And what he's like to fight personally.
