What a beautiful home! So nice to see a Sears kit home loved for all these years! The wood work is the best! When you showed the attic, I was just tickled to think of all the children that might have played up there on a rainy day! It is a space that I would finish if possible. Thank you so much for showing this home!

If I could afford that house, I'd change the exterior color because I don't care for that particular shade of yellow combined with that particular shade of red on the roof. But the layout of the rooms is really cool, and the woodwork. I liked that gas light in the panel next to that door. And it's fun to imagine what you could do with that little tower room way up top. Maybe put an extra living space and another bedroom or two in the attic, and make the tower into a very small office?

OH MY! I am completely in love 😍 If I could buy this home, I would definitely redo the bathrooms and make them more period appropriate, the kitchen would also have to be renovated to more period appropriate, with all the modern conveniences, of course!!! And that attic space!!! Finish that off for a couple more bedrooms or an amazing media room. I’m just completely in love with this house!!!!❤

This is a beautiful home. The woodwork is amazing and I even like the pink in the bathrooms. The attic space would be a wonderful place to finish. Definitely the kitchen needs work. I can't get over the color scheme on the outside. A metal roof doesn’t seem appropriate and the red color is startling. I love red and yellow and have it in my family room, not outside. I guess it is such a bargain maybe new owners could redo the roof and outside paint. I am fascinated by the fact it is a Sears home. My cousin had a simpler farmhouse style one. I didn't know they had Victorian kit homes. Someone obviously has taken meticulous care of the woodwork because it looks so good. A fun video to watch. Thanks you.

A Victorian house doesn't have to be a mansion to be beautiful, and I appreciate how Laine always points out the special features of every house you tour. The oil lamp stands are a fun feature. I can just imagine the wife of the original owner picking them out of the catalogue. :D This is a lot of house for $250K, and once it's empty, the blank slate will be just right for anyone with a vision. No awful wallpaper to remove!! No gloppy layers of paint to strip! Though I was thinking I'd love to set Laine loose on the kitchen and those upstairs bathrooms! I agree with the other posters that the red is great, but the bright yellow needs to go...a bit too much of a McDonald's hamburger joint vibe for my taste. Hope you two are finding a little down time after your crazy whirlwind summer. :)

The kitchen and bathroom need bringing back in time. But that tower room is calling out to be completely strewn with velvet floor cushions with silk tassels, and sheer, diaphanous curtains, and a low, Moroccan floor table for serving tea on. I can picture dreamy weekends up there, reading...

Victoria Magazine used to have reproduction Victorian house plans in with the misc adverts at the back of most issues. More than once I thought about it... Here in San Diego we have a lot of kit homes, though most are Craftsman, Spanish, Colonial revival, etc. from the 20s and 30s. Brent Hull did a video about kit homes on his channel. Sears wasn't the only company.

I remember browsing the Sears & Roebuck catalogue as a teeny bopper in the 1970s. I never saw any houses for sale. 😂 I know Sears sold serious STUFF way back then. I wonder what a house like this cost. I doubt you could build this house today in Florida for less than $800,000. The architecture is so elaborate. I agree with the general consensus that the red, burgundy, and bright yellow have a very MacDonald’s vibe. Maybe switch out the yellow for a midnight blue? Idk. I would never put a red roof on my house. 😂

This house makes me SAD. We bought a Mini-Version if this house where my daughter lived and worked. The plan-She would live there for 4 years while we got our Limestone Tudor ready to sell. Plan was to move there this summer. Then she accepted a better job in the town WE ALREADY LIVE IN. After crying for a week, we put the Widows Cottage (what we named it) on the market and close the end of September. 😞. I’d renovated and remodeled that house a Million times in my head. It feels like a death! Sorry to be dramatic but I have a feeling you two “get it”….being in ❤ with a house that you have to let go of. Thanks for the therapy session! 😉

Is "painted lady" approach actually more authentic? I'd heard / read somewhere that that was actually a manifestation of the hippie era, when many were moving into big houses (particularly west coast) and painting them colors they would not have originally been. IDK, I am asking. TIA.
