Made the mistake of doing that once with a different station. Took over a bloody hour to reach it and that wasn't hutton orbital. After that I made sure to check the distance of stations. Since I don't care if its worth ten million its not worth it.

When I go to Hutton, I turn off all unneeded modules to save fuel. First time I made the trip was when I was still a novice to the game. I saw the really nice shiny payout for a cargo haul, and never bothered to look at the distance! Guess that's better than falling for the "Free Anaconda"! LOL! (The time stamps also gave it away!) And it's not the "Loop of Shame", it's called a "Victory Lap"! LOL!

I've been there on fuel rat business. Someone ran out of fuel about 75% of the way. So that was an interesting rescue. I made a lucky guess and found myself 5kls from him with 40 seconds left. Another satisfied client! :) Figured I'd just go the rest of the way when that happened. Didn't know about the mugs...and I'm not going back unless someone else gets stuck there.

The only way to make money in this game currently now since everything is exploited now is go to hickum and run courier ( stacked by 16) and run them to next star over and Rinse and repeat..it's literally the fastest way to make money and and it's only about a million an hour mabye more since KZbinrs have exploited grind type stuff and devs nerfed those so players have to slowly grind now..it's really pathetic

I'm fairly new to ED and I restarted my game about 6 times before I figured out how things work. I have been watching your videos for a couple weeks now and have picked up a lot of useful information and some real good laughs too. I made the run out to Hutton Orbital on a trade or data mission a couple months ago, flying a Type 6. Didn't know anything about the "For the Mug" tourist destination until I watched this video. At the time I didn't know how far it really was let's just say my friend was an a multi-crew session with me in my keelback and we flew halfway there until he got bored and decided to leave. I flew the other half by myself staring at a single point within the void waiting and waiting and I finally got here to deliver one package...

You can configure the supercruise assist so it activates if you put your thrusters in the blue zone. That way is activated, but it doesnt lower your speed automatically. The problem is the constant beeping alert noise

Late to the party here, but as far as fuel tank size, as long as you scoop full, you can make it one one small tank (about 9% left after landing) in a sidey if you're careful.

the trick to not zipping past stations and the like, for anyone who doesn't know, is to watch that arrival time - when that gets down to 0:07 (7 seconds), drop your throttle to 75% (you can set up a keybind for this, or manually lower the throttle to the middle of the blue part of the gauge). This guarantees the fastest arrival time, fancy charting through gravity wells notwithstanding. In fact, all the supercruise assist does is set your throttle to 75% and automatically drop you when you get close enough (or put you into orbit if it's a planet)

If you go into your pilot options in the right panel, you can set super cruise assist to manual throttle. If you do this, it will let you accelerate to full throttle, but SCA will deactivate itself and force you to manually maintain course until you put it back into the blue zone.

8:25 -- So, I did the Hutton Orbital "pilgrimage" early in the New Year, and when I did I also noticed that the Ship Integrity took the hardest hit I've ever seen; *SO* my question for you is two-fold. (A) Regarding Supercruise Assist, will Ship Integrity be Higher or Lower at the reduced / "optimized" Supercruise Assist speeds? And (B) Is Integrity affected more by Top Speed, or the Amount of Time? (Which will be linked, but entirely variable with one another) And, as a follow-up for you -- why would anyone want to push the ship to Max Possible Speed when it has time to accelerate to 1,500 c or more, over the space of an hour? Because, even if I leave my throttle at 25%, it will eventually get to the same top speed. It merely accelerates more slowly. *AND FURTHERMORE,* the c speed is not affected as directly by the ships FSD as it is by proximity to nearby gravitating bodies. In other words, if I have 2 stars that are 100,000 light-seconds apart, I can expect to continue to accelerate until I pass the halfway mark between them, at which point the Game /FSD begins to wind it back, automagically, even without the Supercruise Assist. I've left a comment on other videos you've released in which I identified that I'd rather have a Docking Computer than a Supercruise Assist of any kind; as long as a player has a throttle axis, the Assist isn't really very useful, but it is much much easier to run the engines too hot., As a consequence it is beneficial to throttle back well in advance of the destination.

RE: Fuel Needed for the Alpha Centuri HOT run; Look carefully at the HUD and notice that your fuel consumption rate is shown for regular thrusters and FSD, and that most ships don't burn more than 2.5 tonnes per hour in Supercruise. If your fuel tank is larger than a Sidewinder's, you should have more than enough fuel, yeah. (Python has a 32 tonne tank.)

I don't know if supercruise assist, or if speed itself affects your integrity at all. If such things do impact it, I doubt it's much. I believe time, heat, gravity and impacts effect it far more, but I haven't run any tests. Just seems that way to me. In general, although integrity matters toward your safety during dangerous tasks, it's 99% of the time something that doesn't matter and something you don't think about. Just throw a very small amount of credits to top off integrity every time you dock somewhere. I do it out of muscle memory. In short, I don't care if supercruise or flying at max speeds cost me more integrity or not. What's it gonna do, cost me 5 more credits? The benefit of going max speed is that faster acceleration, which cuts significant time off the trip, and therefore worth whatever integrity loss it incurs.

@@SepulcherGeist RE: "How much is it going to cost, 5 credits?" -- Depending on how big the ship is, and how much I've maxed out the Integrity Values of all fitted modules, it will drop as low as 10 credits per transit; but my Integrity on the Hutton Orbital run dropped to 37% or something, which was 65K or more to repair. It's well worth investigating. I can't shake the suspicion that anything over "Blue Line" Acceleration causes the Integrity to drop faster. Removing Supercruise Assist makes that Blue Line change significantly.

Just normal wear and tear on the ship . just make sure you do advanced maintainace when you dock . costs peanuts to apply . I do it every time I dock plus the paint ( lol) Ditch Supercruise assist and docking computer modules . and learn to fly your ship ..You will benefit from being better at flying- Plus now you have extra 2 slots to fill with what you want

@@MrTimjm009 Tell you the truth, Tim! I got a Fleet Carrier and the first thing I started doing more of was docking without the Assist activated, and then, with Flight Assist off as well. It's good practice for planet side landings and Outposts, but the large ship orbital stations make flight assist a must, docking computer or not. I have no problem flying the ships; I've learned three times, with different control setups. The limiting factors in my case are a crappy GFX card (so bad framerates anywhere near a Federal or Alliance orbital station, as well as asteroid HazRez) and no VR gear. If I had VR, I'd ditch the docking computers for the largest ships as well. I have no problem shooting the slots of the stations either; I have gotten more fines for doing it without first requesting permission than for anything else. :D No feedback regarding the Speed v. Time charting for integrity? o7

Super cruise assist is pretty cool I agree when traveling long distances you shouldn't really use it because of how slow you'll be going but if you're on road to riches it's a must for me cause it'll auto orbit for you which makes it super easy to probe planets and moons.

I'm a noob, and had this destination as an early game mission. Big difference between Ls and Ly. Don't get these mixed up. I did disable the assist, so only an 50-60 min journey for a low paid mission. I did buy a mug.

You can set supercruise assist to manual throttle. Set speed 100%. Once your close and the slow down warning shows up throttle down to blue and let supercrusie assist take over. You'll hurl to your target but your supercruise assist will pull you out in time.

I could be wrong, but I think the reason for the slower speed of the supercruise assist is actually fuel economy. My hypothesis is the supercruise assist burns less fuel than flying with supercruise assist off.

I accidentally accepted a mission to Hutton and got about 10 minutes into the flight and gave up. I was noob then. I didn’t know it gave you a conda for doing it... is that a glitch?

I fucking went there to buy a few mugs and that special gin and on my way back actually a real player interdicted me and told to give me 5 mugs (i had 7) i said okay abandoned the mugs then that pig still destroyed me im still mad :D

I made it to Hutton, got my mug, then got interdicted by someone and died, losing my mug and putting me all the way back at the first station

@@jacobturnerart I never found out if it was a real player or not, I wasn't looking at the comms when I got interdicted, and didn't even see the ship before I exploded

Lol, I started a few days ago. I made a cargo mission to Hutton Orbital in a Cobra Mk3, the 1.6 million credits was a little too tempting even though the journey was longer than I expected. Only at 500c I realised I was in for the long haul, worth it though

And I thought going to deere horizons twice was bad (around 1.8 million light seconds and I had to do the cargo mission twice since I didn’t have 45 cargo space, only 44 on my cobra mk.3)

Supercruise assist is good if you change the setting on your ship to do manual throttle as when you're at max speed it won't slow you down. When you're approaching a station you can then throttle down to enable supercruise assist and it'll be able to drop you when you're going faster than normal, sometimes dropping at the station at 20-30 Mm/s. If you do it at an angle you might miss the station still, but sometimes I've found it can actually drop you closer, around 5 km from the station. I've been using supercruise assist on a couple ships for that exact purpose.

Supercruise assist kicks in at about 70% throttle. Says so righ in game, one way to check it is to use manual throttle with supercruise, you will have to reduce throttle for SC to kick in.
