I love love this video!! My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and a 8 months and we're planning on (Lord willing) getting married next summer. We're in the weird limbo where we don't want to be engaged for more than 8 months, but we know we want to be married. This was so encouraging and a good reminder to be patient, trust God, and just have fun in this season! It'll fly by even if it feels like it's dragging right now

I love this! Thank you for this video! That pretty much describes my bf (27) and I’s (23) relationship right now. 😂 we’ve been together for a little over a year now and plan to get married probably sometime next year. We love to laugh and joke around, even fighting over straws in the drive thru (something I accidentally started the week we started dating 😳😂) or competing over the stupidest things sends us into rolling laughter and some of the most intimate moments we’ve had. From day one he’s been himself and taught me that it’s ok to relax and be myself around him and others. I absolutely adore his family! I couldn’t ask for a better future mother-in-law. And even no matter what we’re doing or where we’re at we love and treasure the moments we have together. Most of our date nights consist of pizza at his place, (he lives next door to his parents with his brother and sister-in-law until we can get a house) sitting on the couch while he plays games and I scroll through tiktok, or sitting in the truck having deep long conversations about bible study, our youth group, (we’re co-youth leaders at our church) about life, my schooling, or the future. ❤️❤️ I’m so blessed and so thankful for the way God has put us together, continues to draw us closer together and to Him, and is leading us through life. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

It is helping with understanding each other a lot more, and also not offending each other so often!

I am 20 and dating for the third time and my oh my, these ring true. The man I am with now (who I am confident I want to marry if God allows that door to be opened) has shown me what Godly romantic love really looks and feels like. He brings out the best in me while still allowing me to feel comfortable being myself, even the not so great parts of myself. He is a joy to talk to and we can talk about almost anything. I genuinely look forward to any time I get to spend with him. And our communication skills when it comes to disagreements are getting steadily better - though it wasn't so good at first. God's goodness is so evident in this relationship and I can only hope that every Christian girl out there will wait for this confidence and peace that I have found. I think God has this for everyone. Looking back, I have no idea why I entertained the past two guys. This is the real deal and everything else pales in comparison.

The "get to know the family" one.....YES! My boyfriend came from a really really good family, I came from an unhealthy upbringing. He is exactly like his dad and a bit of a momma's boy, I act a lot like my mom and have a terrible relationship with my dad. It's been a lot to work through to deal with both sides. His family lives in Africa and it's rare for me to be able to spend time with them, as much as I wish I could. On the flip side, neither of us really like visiting my parents, but it's been sooooo good to expose unhealthy things in my life and thinking that are directly from my childhood. Such a good tip

LOL!!! It really can be intimidating to meet the family, especially depending on the family dynamics! I know couples though where one family was pretty much crazy and dysfunctional, but it didn't scare away the significant other, because they loved each other and figured out healthy boundaries to set with the families. I hope that can encourage you! ❤️

It has been really challenging to be in a long distance relationship during this time. From meeting once a month, to not seeing each other for almost 3.5 months has been difficult, especially during conflict situations. I will be going back to my country in 2 months and because of where we are in our lives professionally (still finding our feet), we probably won't be living in the same place for at least a year. I miss just going on a walk, visiting a new place in town or just cooking together!

Not related to this video, but a questions I have is: Do you have any advise for girls who are older (25+) who've never had an official boyfriend before? I've never officially dated anyone before, and I have some friends who say Im being too picky, that I just need to date. But I don't feel it's right for me to date someone that doesn't match 2 of my highest needs: he's got to be at least a somewhat strong Christian, and I have to feel drawn to him. I've only met one guy ever that fits that, and he started dating someone else the first months I met him. Every guy Ive gotten close to I've had to tell them I can't date them, because either I REALLY liked them, but their faith was almost an afterthought in their life, or they were a strong Christian, but no matter how hard I tried, and how much time I spend with them, I just don't feel drawn to them at all. It's been so frustrating, and all I can say is I just haven't met him yet, and people think I'm being ridiculous. And it's hard, cause I deeply deeply wish to be married someday.
@TiffanyDawn4 жыл бұрын
This is such an amazing question, and I can imagine you would feel so torn about this! I think your two needs are totally legitimate and really important things to look for in a relationship. I went through most of my 20s totally single, and people thought I was being too picky too. Some people even asked if I was actually gay! But really, it was just that nothing seemed right. I'd go on dates with guys, and I just really didn't want to be with those guys. Or the guys I did want to be with, didn't want to be with me. I didn't re-meet James until my late 20s, and I'm so glad I waited for him instead of marrying someone just for the sake of being married. I hope that can encourage you. And maybe this video about being too picky can help shed some more light for you about this - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKKuhptqfbyrbM0

Hi! I’m 29 and recently started dating for the first time. I also felt like I had high standards or was being too picky. Thoughts to just settle crossed my mind lots of times before. I am so glad that I didn’t. The guy I’m dating meets my standards. If you follow God and Jesus, continue to run to them and tell them how you’re feeling/ doing. If you don’t follow God, then just keep holding to your standards. It’ll be worth it.

I think something to address is you may not get the butterflies in your tummy effect. I didnt with my husband and he is the best man I have ever dated and now married. I did get them though on our wedding night. I think we can hold ourselves back or not be our true selves when we have that fascination puppy love feeling around us when speaking with the guy I like. You may never get the butterflies or it may be years later like my parents. It's someone you can communicate with, get angry with, have connection with, be attracted to, same value system with, that is who you want to end up with. Not necessarily the guy who gave you the butterflies when he said hi.

What a great question! And I love the responses to this question in the comments already! Anyone else have tips to add? You could also play games online - like Code Names is a really fun game, and there's a way to play it online as well. Granted, it would be more fun with at least 4 players, so you could get one of his friends and one of your friends in on it too. On a similar note, group chatting / Zooming with some of each of your friends can give you new things to talk about and make it fun in a different way than just 1:1 chatting. It'll also help you get to know each other better. I hope those things can help! :)
