Utah geologist here: the cinder cones past Snow Canyon and into Veyo and Central are indeed volcanos, but they are just dormant. Should conditions change in the mantle, they could become active once more (although, we do not have any evidence to suggest that this might happen anytime soon). Love your channel.
@marvindebot3264

Thought so, they sure looked like small, long-dormant volcanos. Not as old as the ones around here however, all we have left are some very spectacular plugs.

L K I've seen cinder cones like the one called Black Butte at the foot of Mount Shasta. I thought cinder cones were where small fissures at the base of a volcano that let some cinders leak upward. I've never heard of Black Butte being a volcano. So what is correct?

I'm from KS and know nothing about utah rocks. Can you tell me why some of the rocks on the side of the mesa in St. George where the airport used be be are black? is that oxidized basalt and if so how long does that process take once rocks are exposed?

Back in the early 1990's I was heading home from Sturgis and riding my motorcycle thru every state west of the Mississippi and my bike broke down about a mile east of Milford. Two local guys helped me get my bike back to town and set me up at the only motel in Milford. I spent a good deal of the night on a porch down by the railroad tracks drinking beer and playing music. The guy who owned the house was a song writer and he had a 3 page song on hemorrhoids. Funniest song I’d ever heard at the time. It’s a bike break down I’ll never forget.

All roads lead to Milford. About the same time you were there my cousins who live in Milford met some kids cycling across country. They took them home, let them camp in the yard and my aunt and uncle fed them. One of the kids was sending a yearly Christmas card 15 years later. My aunt and uncle still live by the tracks. While they would happily sing you a song about hemorrhoids you would not want to hear my aunt sing. Milford trivia - Also in the early 90's Harrison Ford was on a plane that needed repairs and landed at the Milford airport. He was there for a few hours and ate at the cafe. Best wishes~

I know this is old, but is it incorrect to just say all igneous rock types are dense? I mean, there are a lot of minerals and their properties that go into the makeup of igneous rocks to determine density, not just that it came from magma. I.E. Porous igneous rock and glass-like igneous rock. I.E. again, Scoria and Obsidian. Trying to make sense of it. NVM. He mentions Basalt specifically. That's my fault for misunderstanding.

@NBSV1
@NBSV1 2 жыл бұрын
For sure. Being able to actually lock all 4 wheels together is a lot of what makes a truck good offroad. That way if any of the wheels have traction they can help pull. With open diffs which ever wheel has the least traction gets all the power. Some of the modern stuff uses the brakes to simulate a locker by applying the brake on the wheel that’s spinning. Seems to work fine with light off-roading and in testing. They don’t seem to work well in harder off-roading or when in the real world environment.

I love those square bodies, i was a teenager when GM started making the square body pickups, classic & are still good pickups. Great recovery, good to see Ed out on a recovery again. On a side note, if you are in contact with your customer, ask him if he's willing to sell that classic chevy? I've been looking for a good one to add to my collection of classic Chevrolet vehicles.

I learned to drive in a 1983 Chevy 3/4 Ton truck fairly similar to the guy in the video. Virtually indestructible. It was a ranch truck and well, my dad was not gentle with it. There is something special about that era of Chevy/GM pickup trucks.

@@johnchedsey1306 you still see an old square body farm truck occasionally. If not the square body, then the successor of the square bodies, the late 80's early 90's GM pickups. I like them both, I've had an 88 Chevy, 93 Chevy, 2004 Chevy, etc. I'm a die hard Chevy man. They are definitely better than other brands I've had as well.

My Dad grew up in the Central / Pine valley area. Video of the area brought back many great memories. I used to drive my bicycle to Veyo for penny candy at the old gas station and / or swim in the old Veyo pool (volcanic heated spring). Every time we visit the area now we always stop in Veyo for fabulous pie.

That green truck looks almost like what my late Dad use to own but it was dark green with the same black molding on the side but it was a 2wd. When I was graduating from High School, my dad said to choose one of the two trucks he owned as my graduation gift. It was either a 1971 shortbed Chevy C-10 or the 1979 longbed Chevy C-10. The 1979 had a brand new engine which I wanted but I chose the 1971 because it was my Dad's first truck and I still have it, I'm planning to get it running again and restore. He sold the 1979 later on. Thanks for the great recovery and seeing that green truck, many memories of my late Dad's green truck👍🇺🇸..

@@likeorasgodWith all respect I think you are completely missing the point in Ed getting this build sooner rather than later. Sure one of the main things that Ed will use this for is his gold mining. But I suspect that they will invite Ed to come along on the winter 4X4 jamboree. Now this is just my opinion, but I don't think Ed needs to 4 wheel this to enjoy it. I think Ed will enjoy it when its just sitting in his driveway. Or driving it around to block to show off to his neighbors. I have no idea how old you are. But I'm close to Eds age. Now you saw that it was a bit of effort for Matt to get into the nugget. Ed is about Matts size but a lot older. So I assure you it is going to be a serious effort for Ed to get in and out of the nugget at first. I can almost guarantee you that Ed is going use a few muscles that he does not have developed to the point that they need to be developed to get in and out without needing assistance. We all love Ed, but he is not getting any younger. so let him enjoy the nugget as much as he can for as long as he can.
