What a haul! Makes me look forward to Lobster season here on the Midcoast... Just FYI, that Amanita was not a Death Angel... If anything, it was a Amanita Formosa, the American variant of the (in)famous Amanita Muscaria. As you might have guessed, it has similar properties... Happy hunting!

Wow, now I really feel bad... I had one of these Lobster mushrooms growing at the base of our 85-yr old Hickory tree last year, it was massive. I thought it might be poisonous to our dogs so I cut it out and threw it away, I had no idea. I will try to learn about the different types of mushrooms as I also have these tiny thin white button-type mushrooms growing in my garden beds and garden planters. I think they might be growing out of the organic compost we use in our gardening.

A couple years ago I sold chants for $6 a pound because the places I know 30 to 40 pounds can be had a day. At that price they sold quick. Well with gas prices going up It'll be $10 a pound, but it'll take longer to sell.

Pete ,you need to add the word Down to East Maine. Ask any local its called Down East. I'm not surprised that Jim didn't tell you that, considering that he is not a local. You can tell by the accent or lack of. But we are definitely glad to claim his genius. Great video nonetheless. Looking forward to more.

@greenkeeper448
@greenkeeper448 2 жыл бұрын
@@PeteKanarisGreenDreamsFL This is why the mushroom world so vast and complex making it really cool in my book. While you may have correctly identified this shroom, hell you were there, it is said that flavoconia tops out at 3 inches in diameter and the biggest tell tale is the little jimmies on top are yellow also. I froze the screen on that specimen and those jimmies look more white to me so I would lean toward formosa, which I understand has the ability to take one for a ride for which no smart person wants any part of. Anyway your content always intrigues.

That was not a death angel u also need to watch what your doing. The lobster mushroom also known as Hypomyces lactifluorum. is not a mushroom, but rather a parasitic ascomycete fungus that grows on certain species of mushrooms, turning them a reddish orange color that resembles the outer shell of a cooked lobster. What u need to be carful of is this turning a destroying angel mushroom into a lobster mushroom. This can killl you if you eat it. Please educate your self a little more to stay safe. I studied fungus for 6 years before I felt confident enough to eat from the forest
