Robert Vought is the former White House budget director, and potential future White House chief of staff that went *on record* in press interviews discussing his vision of a "post constitutional" America. We are united and animated by ideas. Specifically the ideas enshrined in the constitution. That is why we do not swear loyalty to kings, presidents, or even to the state. When any Federal official, military enlistee, commissioned officer, and most if not all state and local officials take office, they pledge fealty to the constitution. Hope someone in the US will answer this as well but would look into things like drawing up wills where your assets are willed activly to them as a person not only through marriage status, look into if there are possibilities of putting them as beneficiaries on diffrent insurances, pension schemes etc regardless of marriage and the other way around. As you've identified I wouldn't bet on GOP respecting any rules or conventions. I personally have gotten very involved in politics where I live to build a better and very different future but that has been my call here thing is I don't think there is a way to sit this one out there is a choice however how to do things .
