Forbidden Croque Madame Sandwich Recipe

This sandwich is so delicious, it should be banned! Croque Madame is traditionally a classic French sandwich that's a variation of the Croque Monsieur. It's made by layering slices of ham and cheese between two slices of bread, typically brioche or white bread. This version is so decadent that it should be forbidden! (in a good way). I made one very large one in the video but the recipe calls for 2 medium ones.
What sets the Croque Madame apart is the addition of a fried or poached egg on top of the sandwich. This egg is what gives it the "Madame" distinction, as it relates to a woman's fertility.
Now, delving a bit deeper into this delightful dish, it's believed to have originated in France in the early 20th century. This is like the croque monsieur without the egg. This is so bad for you, but so darn good! Another sandwich Joel that is quite good is a chicken sandwich covered in brown gravy with boiled peas piled on top.....big thing in Quebec.
