FORCED to stay in Sweden might be a bit dramatic, but we have gotten stuck here in freezing cold Scandinavia for much longer than we'd planned. When we sold our house and moved in to our van after a long battle with colorectal cancer, our plan was to set sail towards a warmer climate. However, just one week before we moved out of or house, Malin was taken in to the hospital with severe abdominal pains.
It looks likely that Malin is suffering with complications from her operations, along with damaged tissue from radiation therapy, and we have recently been given a green light to go travelling, meaning that we will be hopefully heading south just after christmas, exciting! Malin is still recovering from a lengthy battle with colon cancer, and is now feeling a lot better after radiation therapy, several rounds of chemotherapy, and two major operations where she had her colon, uterus and more removed.
This week, we're exploring a beautiful christmas market in an old Swedish town that’s stuck in the 1920s! Gamla Linköping is a beautiful little place with old Swedish buildings, the perfect setting for a Christmas market!

We are a young 'Swenglish' adventure family, that consists of Swedish Malin, English Tom, and babies Charlie & Isabella, who are half and half. We love all kinds of adventures, including travelling around Sweden and beyond in our little budget family campervan, and we're currently building our dream campervan project.
But right now we’re focused on one thing: to be free of cancer. We've been on the journey to recover since Malin received her colorectal cancer diagnosis in late 2022.

Hey - thanks for taking us along! I also love X-Mas markets and hand-crafted everything. Living in Germany, we have a lot of markets! Funny you mentioned Portugal for ceramics. I bought some really nice pottery (coffee/tea mugs) from a shop in Portugal recently. They’re lovely and each one is a bit different, like maybe not perfectly round and such. You can tell they weren’t machine-made. The shop is called „onomao“. If you guys end up in Portugal at some point, I‘d love to see some pottery videos! Welcome to the +30 gang Malin (I‘m +50, haha). What a beautiful Christmas village! It looks SO cold! We are enjoying unseasonably warm weather in South East New Mexico, USA! It’s 23.3 degrees Celsius! One of my workmates when I first came to work at the bank in Scotland and her younger sister used to look for a pattern for each to knit themselves a winter jumper each year. I have fond memories of going to the Swedish outdoor Christmas market every December. Drinking hot chocolate with a "Kanel Bulle"/ Cinnamon Roll to warm up. December 13 its 'Lucia Day' in Sweden. It's a beautiful Holiday Tradition ! "Lusse katter & Kaffe"afterwards. The doughnuts sure made the kids eyes lit up! Hope Tom found some Glogg to stay warm! I just love going through the market with your family. I don't think that I will ever get to go over there in what is left of my life so it was kind of like doing it with "family". I wouldn't like the cold but you all just keep rolling with the punches and like you said, finding the silver lining as much as you can!
