I polished the seat on a few of those old fords. I looked for one when I purchased my last tractor. They are far easier to work on than the newer stuff.

Great video. Thank you. I've been getting a gas 3000 up and running and I'm not a mechanic. Its been a fun progress with a huge learning curve. Can I use universal hydrolic fluid? Thanks for you time and a great video!

Great video! I have a 1974 Ford 3000 that I just recently acquired and love it already. I am about to do full fluid changes and grease job. I thought I had read somewhere that I could use the same fluid that for the hydraulics/rear diff (UTF) in the transmission as well. You mention that you used (regular) 80w90 gear oil for the transmission. Can you put in the transmission the same fluid that is used in the rear/hydraulics? Thanks for doing this. These videos are very helpful!
@CanadianRedneck152 жыл бұрын
I expect you can use the same fluid in the transmission, I used the 80w90 because I feel that it gives better protection. Thanks for watching!

@@CanadianRedneck15 the only thing I don't really know is my tractor is a 69 model do I use 80 90 gear oil in the transmission and what do I put in the rear end
@CanadianRedneck153 жыл бұрын
@@rogerbrewer8456 I believe that it should be 80w90 in the transmission and hydraulic oil in the rear end, something like AW32. You should be able to tell by what comes out when you drain it.

There IS a fuel filter it is inside the tank itself attached to the shutoff valve. You have to turn a wrench to take off a fuel line very close to the starter terminals so disconnect the negative on the battery. When you reattach that fueline statt it by hand so you dont cross thread i have a front loader too and its a pain to work around, it might be easier to take off that loader but its hard to find a good video that demonstrates that.

Enjoy your videos which are very informative as I own a 384 international diesel. Do you have a video or can you tell me how to properly adjust the PTO? It grinds when trying to engage. Thx!
@CanadianRedneck153 жыл бұрын
I don't have a video on the adjustment yet, but thanks for the reminder. The second stage on the pressure plate needs adjusted, there are 3 hex head bolts held by jam nuts around the outside of the pressure plate assembly about halfway up the side. Set the clearance between the head of the bolt and the tab above the head at .080-.090 to set the PTO clutch. Thanks for watching!

@@CanadianRedneck15 the PTO on my 3000 Ford diesel does the same thing when I try to engage it with a bush hog it really grinds really really bad
@CanadianRedneck153 жыл бұрын
@@rogerbrewer8456 Check how much freeplay you have on the clutch pedal, shouldn't be more than an inch, if so adjust the pedal linkage. If that doesn't fix the problem it's likely time to change your clutch.

Great video , very informative. I have a Ford 2000 I want to put a front end loader on. It looks like you are getting your hydraulic fluid from the tractor to power the FEL. Does the tractor hydraulic pump work ok with the FEL? Is it connected on the top plate in front of the seat?
@CanadianRedneck152 жыл бұрын
It was a customers tractor so I don't remember 100% but I believe it had a selector valve on the lift cover to feed the loader valve. The tractor pump works fine to run the loader, just not the fastest ever. Thanks for watching!
@pajeeper420 Жыл бұрын
Have a FEL on a 3910. Works great, even when overloaded. It's slower maybe, but works for me. Plus you can throttle up if stationary to make the pump run a bit faster. I also have a bypass installed on my top plate that lets me run the FEL and rear arms without having to manually divert fluid flow between back/front.

On these early thousand series Fords there is no external filter, later tractors had a spin-on under the left footboard. Thanks for watching!

The lid seal or gear stick seal must be letting water in, very milky the trans oil. Do you know much about universal farmliner 445 4x4. His front diff, trans oil is milky. Not sure if transmission hydraulics is same oil, I had a quik look after 20 other jobs on it seen one dipstick on rh side milky. Is diff oil seperate as I don't know much about them. Never removed hyd filter near starter ran outa time. Any help be appreciated
@CanadianRedneck153 жыл бұрын
A lot a water can migrate in by shift levers and bad gaskets but you can also get a lot just from condensation. I have no experience with Universal tractors, sorry. Thanks, for watching!
