Ford 8N - Iron Mike Gets A Bath

The 8N has been patiently sitting outside while I arrange the Workshop Annex. It has been rained on, sun beaten, and covered with sap from the trees.
Before I put it in the shop for some much needed maintenance over the winter I wanted to wash off the schmoo.
Short of time I didn't waste any more on starting the power washer. I had a warm day and sunshine. I chose to just get on with it.
Not perfect but perfection is the enemy of good enough.

The dust and sap is gone but before I put it away for the winter I want to get the caked on oil and dirt off the frame and engine.

I have a Palmrya broom but all my natural bristle scrub brushes are Tampico

Not sure why that is a Palmrya bristle brush. Ryan bought that many years ago to wash the wheels on his truck. It has been hanging in the garage for most of the past 20 years so it was close to hand when I wanted a brush. The standard in my experience is nylon but I tend to chew them up pretty rapidly. 😄😎

Don't tell anyone but the water in the ground around Richland is contaminated with PFAS. The whole town had to have their wells capped. Richland gets it's water from Kalamazoo's water system.

I'm bad about washing my car maybe once a year if it's lucky but it gets 2 oil changes a year 😆. The work rigs get washed regularly since it's a business. We use a cheap 99 dollar ryobi electric power washer and it's fantastic for cleaning cars. It won't strip down concrete but cars is where it shines. If your tired of gas engine ones for simple tasks like siding cars ect it's perfect. It's also just a extension cord no fancy batteries. Harold's 1990s square body Silverado was also dirty that's the way we liked it. It was a working man's truck v6 he opted for ac and 4w drive manual lockers but hand brank windows nothing fancy. I'm glad your knock at least the scale off 😆 🐠.

This is the first winter I have a building big enough to work on it that isn't needed for something else. Also I won't need the tractor so I can possibly replace the broken stud on the back wheel and the pivot pins on the 3 point hitch arms. Then there is the new casting for the pto. I have had the various parts for years. Patience must be one of my strong suits. 😎

The mower has warnings for NO WATER ANYWHERE because it's electric. Toots blows it off after each use with her battery blower. That't IT.That's our 'Iron Mike"that's been glorified by our illustrious guvmint. GAGG!. It does a good job but a bath would be nice but not necessary. Heard that kerosene and Joy dishwashing detergent was a good grease cutter. Made a batch years ago and never tried it. Come get it if you'd like to try it. I gave away the pressure washer. It'll be waiting for you. God Bless You Two!

I have planned that trip for years. It seems like every time I get close something comes up. I had such a great time at Kure Beach and visiting Lydia's family I would love to combine trips. Might not be as soon as I want but I still intend to go. Same thing with visiting all kinds of places. Much more than an hour or two in the car is more than we can handle anymore. I figured once I didn't have to be at a certain place every day to make a living I could travel anywhere. It just hasn't worked out yet. 😯😎

@@OldSneelock That's me. As a widower, I have all kinds of free time to travel, but thought of traveling alone just doesn't excite me one bit. Always wanted to see Crater Lake National Park, about a 3 day drive from Oklahoma, but the prospect of spending around 7 to 8 days alone in the car, on the road, at my age......nope, ain't happenin'.

dave were ford tractor parts interchange able? i had a model A ford . ford had his motor crates made to be used as floor boards in his cars. was the bolt pattern the same in everything he made? when is the last time it was that clean?

It is my understanding that there is an adapter plate between the transmission and the engine block that lets the starter motor for the flathead 6 bolt up and align with the flywheel.
