Ford Anglia 105E "find" footage & image archive

We recently stumbled across a Ford Anglia 105E saloon looking more than a little derelict, and footage of this chance discovery opens this video before switching to a compilation of Anglia 105E and 123E images captured at various shows over the years. Most Anglias we see nowadays are saloons (all two-door cars), although from time to time rare surviving examples of the Ford Anglia estate and the related Thames 307E van do turn up.

I nearly bought one, until I scrambled underneath in my overalls( essential in those days viewing a car) and saw the rot. Looked as though it had been under the sea for years. So walked away. Reminds me of the one you showed in Matlock.

Passed my driving test in an F-reg Anglia 1200 Super 123E in 1969. Nice car to drive for its day, especially the 1200 Super which had synchromesh on first gear which the 997cc 105E didn't, but I worked in a garage as a mechanic shortly after that and soon realised how troublesome they were!

Another good collection of photos. One of my friends had one when we were all new drivers, that was back in 1964 - 1966 saw all 12 of us in the friend group passed. Five of us are still in regularly touch and three other are around the rest gone. That's how it goes. Cheers Bob

I bought one of these out of sympathy, off my late brother. A wheel bearing failed going round the Sheffield ring road. I had it recovered to home and then drove it very gingerly the 1/4 mile to my garage. On arrival there was a thump, a quick look look under the bonnet revealed that a McPherson strut had found its way through the inner wing. RIP.

I always liked these, my late Father used to drive one in a van configuration which I used to love to sit in and pretend I was driving in the early 60's I thought the deep dish steering wheel was super cool. These have quite a healthy following and a good one can change hands for surprisingly high prices.

A Happy Birthday to Mrs. OCC (probably belated now!) 🎂🍧. I am amazed that there are still a good number of vans around as they were a real work horse of their day so it was great to see them. Our neighbour passed her test in an Anglia and then bought one in light blue (her husband never drove). At the time my Dad often worked away so she would take my Mum food shopping and we would sometimes go along too. We would cringe in the back as she always seemed to over rev the engine and that continued on throughout her driving career. Ford was always good at making a number of models basic, super and so on to tempt more buyers in on what was quite a humble car really and that's not just on the Anglia of course. A nice collection of Anglia cars and vans there Rick, thank you for sharing these. 👍👍

I remember an old lady neighbour had an immaculate blue and white Anglebox when I was young, she used to spy on us playing in the road from behind her curtains, we nicknamed her the Dragon (perhaps a little unkindly...!)

hi there, this was my first car in 1969 until i got the L/rover bug, a great car simple to operate,4 speed g/box with crash on 1st gear so it was necessary to double-de-clutch going in to 1st gear on the move. easy as cake, i mean pie, !

Hi, I actually plan to re-do the intro going forward and make it not specific to any one car, as sometimes it doesn't make sense showing the Pilot (or the Anglia before it) then the video being about something different entirely

First car was a 105E, in which I really learned to drive, although lessons were in modern things like Talbot Sunbeams and Mk1 Fiestas. First car after passing my test was a 123E. Terrific cars both. Having such an upright and fairly high driving stance made for good visibility, and the 123 was suprisingly relaxing on long trips (London to Plymouth many times). If fitted with a type 9 five speed gearbox, for even better fuel economy, I'd love another.

Thanks, Rick. Now I want a Ford Anglia 105E! After watching the video, I now see the 150's Ford design influences like the 1955-57 Thunderbird shape of the front sheet metal, the "Eyebrows" of the early option for 1955, the front hinged bonnet, the reverse pitched rear window of the 1958 Lincoln Continental all combine for a nice looking car, in my opinion. The wide steel wheels look especially good on those cars.

Cut my teeth on rusty Anglias in the mid 70s. Breakers yards were full of them. Typically they were mechanically excellent, decent interior but totally rotten. The ultimate rot box almost. Excellent car though, I had a mint never welded 105e as late as 2005, had planned to put a Zetec in it and slam it over wide steels with full Milton suspension but decided it was too original.

Had a 1200 cc Anglia back in the day , wasn't a particularly reliable one though and it leaked like a sieve when it rained. My old 90s Cavalier is for sale if anybodies interested. I made a video of it on my channel. I've owned it 18 years .

Without doubt my favourite car of all time. I had four of them in the early 90s; two deluxes, a 1960 base model and, my favourite, a '66 Super fitted with a 'breathed-on' 1500GT engine, 2000E box, classic struts and discs, side-exit exhaust and other mods. It went like stink and sounded awesome. Of the sixty or more cars I've owned over the years, it's the only one I regret selling. DBM885D - anyone know of its current whereabouts?

DBM885D is SORN. Last Logbook issued 10 April 2012. A white 1966 Anglia.
