That's cool. Your dealership probably had the tables, but I guess they didn't really need to be installed as such. I've heard about the plug too - I'll have to do something with it, like install a flush-mount USB charge port.
@gregmyatt99324 жыл бұрын
MotoringBox that would be great if you can do that. They also had a Motorola loom that was harder to fit as it went right up the back into the stereo system and a microphone that poked out at the top of the A pillar. Those chrome skirts are very similar to an actual skirt that was on the LTD and fairlane ghia as an option. Fitted some of those aswell. Fitted allot of the twin rear spoilers on the XR models as the option, you dont see many of those id say they are pretty rare aswell. All in all the AU was a very sorted out car by the 3rd series and very reliable.

My '07 BF XR6 had a badly peeling front right fender when I bought it, like someone had spilt brake fluid on it or some corrosive liquid that peels clear coat. Also had a dent in the top. Got a new fender for $50 with next to no damage aside from a few minor scratches which are practically invisible from a guy wrecking one nearby. Was the same colour (lightning strike, same colour as the AU here) with no paint fade. Replaced that and now it looks like new. So it's not impossible to find replacement panels, I'd definitely have a crack at searching for some before spending $200 on fender flares or getting it repainted/repaired.

I got a guy that is on Facebook to replace my head lining on my Ford Territory. He came to me and it cost me $250. It is now better than new. In the factory the material is not wrapped around the edge. This causes fraying. He wrapped it around the edges. I think your AU is in good enough condition to warrant spending this amount. Ford were pretty sneaky making the front support for the table being the auto shifter. This makes unusable when you put it in drive. I love (and hate) old Fords, I had a 2002 Focus until recently, which was a great car, but with some quality niggles that are typical Ford.

Good to see the AU again. Looks great with the chrome. I was wondering what had happened to it. Do you have an overall opinion of which car you would prefer, the AU vs the VT Commodore? I see you've put 'Barry' to good use as an accelerometer indicator.

MotoringBox I test drove one years ago. They wanted $20,000 back then. The Duratech V6 was very nice and the car (white) attracted looks from other motorists at the lights. We only got the bells and whistles Ghia model here.

Absolutely BRILLIANT! Love your attention to detail and love the AU. Dad used to have the mobile presenter in his AU Fairlane Ghia. I remember it very well. The Fairlane also had a small hump at the rear of the roof - the car was pre wired for a mobile kit. You took the plug out of the hump and screwed in the antenna. Ford Australia was so forward thinking at the time.
