Hey gang, i bought the BadAss tents full rack. It is truly badass! The fit and finish is perfect. Easy installation with common tools. The roof panels 1st and 2nd do come off w/rack installed. Tricky at first but after you do it a few times , you can do it by yourself. The rack comes w/ finish plates to convert to half rack and its just removing a few screws. It does add some wind noise but with the wind deflector it goes away. Their a small busy shop and the contact person is Roger Davis, took care of all my concerns. Hope this helps! Great information, I just canceled my Ford roof rack order a couple hours ago after find that in the 2dr manual page it states 110lbs in motion and 450 stationary. Well 110lbs is not enough for a roof top tent. I am glad I found your video just now to give me some options. I need to do some more research and see what will fit in my 7ft garage door. I have the Sasquatch package.

great video. I have the zroadz on my 4 door FE and it's been great. A few bummers- front panels come off. Mid- panels do not. and back panels obviously don't either. Also, no wind deflector and man is it noisy- probably more so with an added light bar. But with tents and rooftop boxes, it's been a beast and should be pretty easy to remove in the summer so I can go topless!

Very informative! I ordered the Bronco rack with my 4dr Badlands from the factory. It's only $365, which may be a bit higher than it was in January of 2021 when I put in my initial order. You can order a large number of attachments from Yakima and Thule for carrying canoes, kayaks, skis, bikes, rooftop tents, etc. If Ford ever delivers my Bronco (which I reserved on 7/14/20) I'll try to remember to let you know how it is!

These sound great but just because the rack capacity is 800 lbs, we still have a Bronco ROOF capacity of much less. Most racks mount to the same factory places as the OEM roof rack. Am I missing something?

Good point, Bobby. I'm still looking for a solution to being able to put a platform up there that I can stand on, even if it means not going with Bronco. Too much territory on the roof to let it go to waste.

As the rack capacities go above 800 lbs, they usually rely on a frame that connects to the actual vehicle. Gobi is one of those.

I want a rack that is modular. As I remove sections of roof I can easily remove sections of rack. I also would like it to be designed like a high quality cargo rack be able to have lights inside the rack to protect them. But the main thing is sections that can be removed and still keep a quality looking rack.

Shannon- that can be accomplished with the Badass Tents rack. This is the one we went with and it is modular and light. We have a 4 person roof top tent and it holds it perfectly.

I was really impressed with the OVS rack when I was looking for racks, but the deal breaker for me is not being able to take the front roof panels off. One critique of your video is that you spent the first 5 minutes talking about what you were going to talk about.

Installing mine soon! I do have a question - the instructions claim you should install any accessories to the rack BEFORE tightening it to your roof. Do you think that is a better choice?

Yes, it’s better to leave a little loose to get everything lined up and then tighten when it’s right.

@@alpinegarage8548 Heads up on Valkyrie: I placed an order with them and was really looking forward to receiving the roof rack. However due to "a potential engineering and manufacturing flaw in our 2-door and 4-door full racks for the Ford Bronco" they made the decision "to immediately halt all existing sales of the full racks until they can fully assess and remedy the issue." I know it's the right decision for them and they communicated very well. They have refunded my money and offered a discount on a future purchase. They seem like a stellar company and I am hoping that they figure out a solution soon. I would love to be a loyal customer of them.

I ordered the Bronco rack with my '22 Outer Banks because my wife wanted it. Maybe we could use it to take our 18-ft Grumman canoe, "Giardia," somewhere. I'd have to get a Yakima canoe adaptor module first. By the way, as a Washingtonian, it's "Yak-i-ma." The "Yak" is sounded like in the Nepal mountain critter.

That’s the question right? They both are comparably priced and really similar. Try calling or emailing them for info and see who responds. That usually the way I determine my purchases, is who is going to help me if there is an issue.

I was able to change my order to a Everglades edition and it comes with the factory roof rack. Im impressed with the overland racks but the Gobi rack I couldn’t use because the Everglades comes with a snorkel. But if the other rack figures out how to seal the hard top with the mount going between the hard top that one would need the one I would chose. If that doesn’t work out I would chose the Zroadz roof rack. I would probably end up selling the factory roof rack.

I switched over to an everglades as well. The Gobi rack is my favorite of these too and would compliment it very well, but won't work unfortunately. I like the other overlanding one too, but you can't take the top panels off once it's installed.

I have the 2021 Bronco Black Diamond and i ordered the factory roof rack. WARNING - It only has a dynamic rating of 110lbs, static 450. It would be solid but for some reason its is attached to the front with a cheap plactic piece with one little screw!! I'm so upset because I have a 160lb Roofnest tent! Thanks for this video, I need to get an aftermarket rack now. Damn you Ford!!

I also have a Black Diamond edition and the factory roof rack. I do a lot.of kayak fishing so not having the rack extend to the rear of the vehicle is a downer. I just installed JCR Offroad's full length rack. Pretty easy install and looks great. It was $1,399. They dont state maximum weight loads yet but they say at least 250 dynamic.

Yes, some of them will allow for another bracket for lights, and some have brackets on the bar itself. All should allow for lights in some configuration.
