I've had my Bronco for 2 weeks now. My Bronco is a WildTrak, 4 door, hardtop, 2.7 twin turbo, 10 speed, 35 inch bead locking tires on 17 inch wheels. Its not high end luxury, and no it would not hold up to the finest European cars. But it doesn't feel cheap, well the dashboard does sound hollow(and kinda cheap) when tapped on from the top but the rest of the surfaces, controls, and moving parts feel solid and well made. But beyond all that, this is a FUN vehicle to drive and own! The G.O.A.T. modes, the front and rear locking diffs, trails assist turn, and more all make for easy fun over most terrains. Sport mode, which can be used on asphalt, puts it in 4A and you can really feel it grab the road and pull you with all 4 wheels and then the turbos kick in for a nice little boost. The hard top is the only way to go in my opinion. Taking the first two segments off is fast and easy. The built in 6 auxiliary switches make customizing this thing so much easier as well. I don't know what the "off road" scene is like in the UK but here in the states this vehicle fits fantastic with all the sub groups of the off roaders... Mudding, overlanding, campers, rock climbers, beach cruisers, and so on. I don't know if anyone cares or finds this useful. Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in.

the reason the handles feel flimsy could be because they can be removed so that you can attach accessories.

The "tide-down" points on the bonnet reaching up near the roof was as I understand it, designed to facilitate the attachment of a wire so that in the event of driving through heavy bush, the wire would deflect the tree branches etc away from the windshield/screen and out to the sides. Thereby preventing potential damage. Sigh!! the "protruding element" by the spare wheel has a camera in it. Clear for everyone to see, well nearly everyone!. "Grab handles the same as a defender" yes and every other off-roader ever made! etc etc

I think it’s a bit unfair to compare a non-luxury Ford off roader to a luxury one from Land Rover. I would hope a much more expensive vehicle would use better materials and have better build quality. It starts at $30k in the states while a defender in the US starts at $20k more.

Yeah it sort of bugged me when he kept comparing it to the LR. The new LR was built with luxury very much in mind whilst the Broncos is more of a non-luxury utilitarian off roader. Most peeps who buy the new LR will never take them off roading whereas most Broncos buyers definitely will. And some might even use them for a highway police chase.

I know this is a little late but trail turn assist shouldn't be used on pavement or high traction surfaces as it can cause damage. It's intended use is offroad on a trail like a mountain switch back where there is little room to turn and the turn is nearly 180 degrees. It's a massively helpful feature for It's intended use.

Also Sasquatch package which can be had on any trim level or any body style (2 or 4 door) not only gives you the 35 inch tires and upgraded suspension but it gives you locking front and rear differentials as well as a sway bar disconnect that can be engaged on the fly, all these features are able to be switched on/off through cool toggle switches located on top of the dash.

The Bronco does start at $30,800 USD tho, so it's not that expensive in the U.S. (without the dealer markups) Comparison: Defender: $51,700 USD Jeep Wrangler: $29,995 USD

I think while the can serve similar purposes this and the defender are in different classes, definitely different price points. Dont know of the defender is a fair comparison, should really be put up against the wrangler. Great review as always, just felt that was a bit misleading as they arent really competitors

It looks half-built and unfinished without the doors etc. Doesn't look natural, like it does with the Jeep. It's as though no mind has been paid to the look of the vehicle in its doors-off configuration. Too much stuff on show - mechanisms, ducts, conduits and such - that shouldn't be visible.

Seems like some UK motoring journalist don't do their research. Mat Watson did not know the C8 corvette power was limited until the odometer hits 500miles. Roy the door can be stored in the back if you have the kit. I am not sure, if you can store the doors in the back with the soft top on. But I'm not a motoring journalist. Roy is talking about the build quality like the rear break light and grad handles shaking. I think you need to talk with Clive Sutton about that

Getting the Bronco on those baby tires is asinine. Completely missed the mark with that choice. 1. Rear camera is the reasoning for that protruding bit... 2. Doors store in the trunk (it's designed specifically to hold them) 3. Trail turn assist on pavement? 🙈

These start at around only 30 thousand here in the U.S., so the lesser interior quality is to be expected....it's also less nice so it is easier to clean when it gets muddy, there even are drainplugs as an option in the floor. The metal front bumper is also an option, standard is plastic.

Problem with Land Rovers is that they spend half their time in the garage and you need a mortgage to afford the maintenance! Friend of mine was forced to sell his Discovery because he simply could not rely on it to drive long distances as the engine may cut out, overheat, electrics going dead, etc.

For the Bronco Sport, it is really just a Ford Escape Mazda Tribute with a lift kit big tires and and fancy bumpers. No rear-Wheel-Drive, big problem. But then again most people that will buy them won't drive the on anything heavier than grass or gravel.

But the interesting thing is that in the US every car journalist has stated how much more refined on road it is than the Wrangler, which is really the only true competitor. I love the new Defenders, and the Bronco, and the Wrangler. But Rory also didn't speak to the fact that on road performance was hampered by the way the car was engineered to maximise off road capability. (also the boot size of the 4 door is different than that of the 2 door).
