I've bought my 2011 eco-boost new and have 160k on it. I'd say it's been an okay engine. I've had to change the ignition coils and spark plugs a few times. Thanks for the clip on the pump difference. I would be mad as hell to get home withe the 4 bolt.

Dude. Love your video. Sounds like me working in a car. The girls f150 just started blowing water from the pump.

I have a 2011 f150 ecoboost and it’s been a total nightmare. Need to gap plugs regularly. At 90k miles had to to the timing chain TSB. The Ford dealer gave me the wrong “updated” tensioner and I had to tear it all down again. Then at 120k it snapped a connecting rod. Bought a used engine block and rebuilt everything like new. These engine are always filthy dirty even at low miles. It’s hard to access normally easy things because of all of the turbo stuff. I’m on pins and needles driving this truck just waiting for another failure.

I thought they put the water pump inside the engine on that year? What about the 2012 3.5's? Do you know if the pump is inside the engine?

I have the 3.5 ecoboost in my 2012 f150. No question best engine I've ever had in a truck. Not sure why your bitching about oil blowing after 200k. At that point, shit starts going wrong! Mine has 130k and it that v6 will still out pull and v8 Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, and other Ford on the road. Once it's done out pulling them, it will out drag all of them easily. I refuse to buy anything other than the ecoboost going forward. Yep, it's a twin turbo, so it's a bitch to work on, and there's more moving parts to break, but that's the trade off for the best performance out of any truck engine on the road. Had mine for 5 years and it's been nothing but phenomenal

Is the 3.5 Ecoboost engine good in the long run for my 2016 Expedition? The same engine and I'm afraid of it

How did you end up replacing that seal on the lower pipe that you showed. I am in the middle of that same job and mine broke out too. Having to wait on the seal to come in. Just wondering if it has to be replaced from the backside of the timing chain cover ? Please let me know. Thank you!
