@justing224 proof please. Anyone can claim that regurgitated garbage. When guys don't gap plugs properly or use wrong plugs all together, or run wrong octane fuel, bad shit happens. Need to know all the facts before making claims based off he said she said bs. If your tune isn't right and needs revisions, and your engine is detonating, you should be smart enough to know what's going on instead of continuing to run it hard. Guys are supposed to be gapping plugs at .028" and some are using the .28mm gage which is around .011" so yeah, it's the tune... Just heard one of those other tuners blew a motor last week. Was it their fault too or customer error? Again, get all the facts before spreading garbage

FWIW, I bought a SCT tuner from someone and he said he saw 2mpg gain. I think the torque comes in earlier so you’re not having to step on the gas as hard to get up to speed? Idk. He said the mpg increased.

The increased speed, horsepower, and torque are all great. You mentioned that the tuning increased fuel efficiency a bit. Please elaborate more on that. I'm most interested in improving fuel economy in my truck. The expense of tuners, programmers, and other hardware mods need to be offset by better mileage IMHO.

Yea should be cutting 1.8 or faster. Being a mile above sea level really hinders the performance off the line and beyond. A stock 2.7 will run these times at sea level. This same truck would likely be capable of 13 flat or faster at sea level.

Please remember that this Elevation causes an approx 1 full second slower ET than at sea level. So at sea level this same truck tuned will go a 12 second 1/4 mile! Also having 93 octane at sea level helps with a couple tenths faster than the 91octane fuel. So for $400 you can have a full-size 4x4 4 door truck that can possibly out run a new musclecar from the stop light to the next!

As long as you run in the winter in AZ. From late May to late Sept, due to high temps the density altitude is nearly as high as Denver's actual elevation. Basicalky the hest in AZ makes people and anything else that has to breath/intake air like a vehicle, feel like it is breathing air at 4500 to 5000 ft in summer. Its why people should not be dumb and buy performance vehicles there or at least d not drive them during the 7 months of 105-112 degree temps because they will be 1.7 to 2 seconds slower in every acceleration aspect.

A turbocharged vehicle suffers from elevation changes, FAR less than a N/A vehicle. The reason is that as the air gets thinner, the turbos actually spool up more. They literally spin faster, in effect negating the thinner air effects. It would be cool if they would show the MaP of this truck, at low elevation, and at high elevation. It should run damn near the same in almost all conditions.

@@derekortiz3663 the air is thinner the higher one goes. And, very hot temps combined suny weather increase density altitude. As a Pilot and racer here's the definition as I remember: Density altitude is pressure altitude corrected for nonstandard temperature and dew point &/or humidity. As air temps increase, air density decreases. So even if at say, 700 ASL (above sea level elevation, the high DA (density altitude) will make a plane, vehicle or person "feel" as if they're at much higher altitude.

I have a 2014 5.0 with a Bully Dog tuner. I’m just using the preset 87 octane performance tune. My fuel economy is about 1-2 mpg better and it seems to really bring the truck to life under 40mph. Also, I don’t know if it’s just in my head, but the exhaust note seems to be very slightly more aggressive.

My last F-150 had a 5-Star tune on it. The thing was a beast when I put my foot down but I hated the everyday driving. The shifting was WAY too rough for me, even with the lower performance tunes. When I traded the truck in I put the stock tune back on the truck, and on my way to the dealership was having second thoughts about the trade in because the truck shifted so nice and smooth with the stock tune... Don't think I'll ever tune my cars again.

After watching a bunch of videos I've been driving my truck (2022 2.7L) exclusively in sport mode. Driving normally I haven't dropped MPG at all (yet) and I feel it's also because I'm maintaining a manageable RPM consistently instead of lugging it everywhere then if I need to get into passing gear I end up revving at a higher RPM than necessary whereas the truck in sport mode gets moving with little effort. Even mostly city driving (between Johnstown and Loveland) I'm still averaging the same 20.5 mpg I started with. I do have to say I don't let my truck switch into 4A, I keep it at 2H. Not sure if that adds to better mpg or not. I'm honestly still not entirely sure how the 4A works lol

If your truck has 4H & 4L I would randomly switch it into them every now and again just so things stay moving. It just locks the front in and you can do that while driving. 4L you stop and switch it.

NA engines won't have near the hp increase that a boosted engine does. These tuners enrich the mixture and increase the boost. NA engines can only enrich the mixture and advance the timing.

Canned tunes are garbage...no argument! Custom tunes from the likes of Brew City Boost and Unleashed are unreal. Not bashing 5 Star but their tunes ar known to be conservative. They do have the best tow tunes around..no argument. Get you a Brew City Boost Ethanol tune and on other mods and you'll be in the 12's...also dont run sport mode in the 1/4...proven slower.

it depends on what type of engine you have. Turbo engines (ecoboost and turbodiesel engines) have a lot of potential with just a software tune, but an NA engine truck isn't going to see much gains just from a tune. For example, you MIGHT get 30 hp and 30 lb-ft out of a 5.0 F150, but the ecoboost will get the gains you see here and more.

Alright so I have a genuine question. I’ve recently tuned my truck with an stx tuner and my top speed limiter is removed. What is the safest speed that an all stock 2015 f-150 with bridgestone ko2 tires can go. I’m worried about going over 120 and got up to 113 before I chickened out while testing it out today. That’s the safest recommended speed for the tires, and obviously I’m not planning to go 110 every where I go. I just plan to race a couple buddies home from work.

if you take it in for warranty work just put it back to stock tune before you bring it in. If they see a aftermarket tune they will void the warranty

Even if you take the tune off they can see where it has been tuned. The PCM has a counter built into it that shows the tech whether it was tampered with or not. Best to just leave it alone or find some kind of piggyback module that doesn't actually reprogram the ECM.

95 MPH with 4WD enabled on dry pavement? I wouldn't recommend that often. Be careful with tuning and warranties. Yes, I know, some people says the law says a tune won't invalidate your warranty, but depending on what goes wrong (if something does go wrong), I wouldn't want to be the one fighting the dealer/Ford over whether or not a dead engine can be covered under the warranty. It's not worth it for a quicker 0-60 and more power in general. The 3.5 twin turbo already has loads of power. Anyway, it might be worth buying just for the purpose of being able to disable the auto start/stop function. I hate that.

We have at Ford, now the most powerful regular production SUV. Raptor not regular production and heavier than regular F150. Its the F150 Limited with the Raptors high output Ecoboost V6: 450 hp/510 lb-ft. A Ford Engineer just slapped a conservative tune and drop in filters on it and came back with: 525 hp/565 tq. Folks this thing in near sealevel in 65 to 70 degree air, stock ran 4.7 sec 0-60 and 13.2 at 108 mph, tuned it did 4.3 sec & 12.6@113 8 mph. Awd model. If it was rwd on sticky tires It'd be quicker due to less weight.

I just traded in my 2011 f150 ecoboost that had 200k miles on it. The last 100k was tuned by 5 star. I loved it and will do it again. Mpg went up if you could keep your foot off of the floor which was hard to do. It even made my first year ecoboost run better. It wouldn't have those cold shakes that they were known for. Truck was still going strong with very little repairs at 200k.

@@dannymartinez8522 I didn't do much towing with it. I did beat on it but I also took care of it. It did sit in a lot of California traffic. I will say my ford after this only had 4k miles on it before the 10 speed transmission needed to be replaced and ended up getting lemon lawed. I went back to Toyota. Not the fanciest trucks but very reliable

Makes me feel so bad. My 93 tuned 90s truck with some average bolt on mods, stock heads and cam, and 4.10 gears only does 17 second 1/4s right now at just 550' elevation (granted something is wrong with it. Has a very bad power after the initial throttle hit, and then has now power til a ±3000rpm wake up point, but due to the low lift/duration cam and low cfm heads, it's out of steam by 4400rpm, so I have a very small power window in a 4spd 5000lb truck. That's not good. Lol

Is the 10 speed transmission in the F150’s reliable ? I’m interested in used quad cab 4x4 . Something from 2016 or newer around the 30k range. Not for towing, just a daily driver.

Ford started using the 10-speed in the 2017 F-150. They had the 6-speed before. There still needs to be more data on its long term reliability.

I had a 2015 F-150 (6 speed) and now have a 2018 (10 speed).... Both with the 5.0.... I love the 2018 much better overall. Tows better, accelerates better, shifts smoother.... The list goes on. As far as long term reliability, I can’t speak for that yet as I don’t have many miles.... Hopefully they hold up long term!!!

2018 f150 2.7Ls are limited to 101 Mph -_- its ridiculous and annoying what if im being chased down the road by a psycho with a gun.. his dads 67' station wagon could drag me down eventually .. Tune allows you more safety and peace of mind knowing a 4 banger Honda Civic cant chase u down lmfao. (Granted obviously i would take action and not flee, still what if a tornado is barreling down the road. Your dead)

My f150 drive shaft is a throw away, nonservicable.. $$1000 today to do rearend bearings now I have to replace the drive shaft for another $500.. after market serviceable and greasable.. wtf Ford.. should of stayed with Toyota for sure..
