Yes! Those have to be cleaned out and removing the plugs that way is a great way. I have a slide hammer to do jobs like that.

Reminds me of removing the carburetor idle screw plugs on California cars back in the 80's.

A claw hammer has no business being around an engine. A claw hammer is used when nailing wood together. Whether you're a machinist or mechanic, that's when a ball-peen hammer is used, unless you're a Canadian.

Well you can pry out the screws with a ball peen. Let me know how that works for you.
