Hey Big Ben, You have helped me in the past with Escape questions. No for this if the clutches would have turned smoother and popped like you say you would have just switch the actuator to see if the problem moved and you had your answer correct? Also if you do changed an actuator is it plug and play or do you need to program? Mmmmkay…

Hey! Yeah swap them to see if the issue switches to the other clutch. And no, the actuators don't require programming or anything

@ Aweome thank you. So I do also have another question real quick. 3rd Generation Ford Escape, trans valve bodies whole or just replacing solenoid have to be programmed correct? I believe the answer is yes. If so can you provide me with a dongle link and software that you recommend? I want one to keep but they all have bad trans on fb market place but also i want to buy and flip. Thanks for the info man! Mmmmkay…🤓

@ thank you for the response. Now unless i got them confused when swapping which I don’t believe I did because the problem did not swap..actually still had drive and not reverese still. But here is my question, because after you swap the computer still reads a fault at the das cluster and I did hit ok but it didn’t seem to acknowledge, I am thinking I guess a scanner would have to clear original fault codes to acknowledge!? Or even detach the battery negative!? Your thoughts or the reverse forks whatever are jacked!?

You must find drilling top and bottom and flush the Dust with brake cleaner, expect a video on that

my wife has a 2012 ford focus, and transmission just started acting up and no reverse at all now. when you take off it jerks from 1st to 2nd and just not going over 45mph, I put my Fixd scan on it, and this is the 3 trans codes that comes up. P287A, P090D, and P087A. Also some other codes that are, J1850 But engine code is U1007, and B10D7 Pats key, and U0300, P144A. But right now Im more want to know if you might know the problem with transmission, does she need another one, as a used one is expensive. We Just don't know what to do now. Any help from you would be great. Thank you.

@@blade75964 I would swap the actuators A and B top to bottom to see if the codes change to the opposite clutch to confirm actuator failure. You can also do a clutch fork test

Hey Ben, I talked to you on a different video and told you my issues with my 17 focus, limp and no reverse, and two codes, P2387 (shift fork B position) and P287B shift for calibration not learned. Well my question is, I drained my transmission. Fluid in the fluid has a lot of metallic shavings, non-ferrous guessing aluminum, Do you know what all that could be from? I got a new transmission case and I dropped the transmission today and I'm going to change that case out because I'm afraid the tab is broken off. But I'm really worried about the aluminum spirals in the fluid and I just don't know what it is

If it wasn't for the popping sound, I would have tried the brake cleaner trick, and blast that fork spline, turn once, blast again, turn once, blast, over and over, and see if it frees up, in hopes it's just excessive clutch dust buildup packed in there. What's the milage again?

@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Sometimes you'll get the fork to free up, however i've found if they won't slide back and forth in your hand, theyll still bind up when driving and you get shudder. They may move ok with the spline tool but they need to move freely when you're physically moving the fork slide by hand back and forth.

Hey so I did the wd40 trick to try and get the fork unstuck. But it worked a little too well and what I’m guessing to be the entire fork bolt? Unscrewed. Does this mean I’m screwed and need to rebuild my transmission , or is there anyway I can just screw this back in and be fine? I have a 2018 Focus SEL if that helps with anything.

Yes. Just program the 14 calibration into it. Same way you would program a new Ford tcm
