Ford Mondeo Mk4 - H1 and H7 Headlight bulb LED Upgrade

Part 2 of the led update from HNAsupplies AKA Andy Brooks, in this vid in do the H1 and H7 front lights. So now all that is left is the indicators which Andy has promised to send me asap. So stay tuned for that. Also i will be doing the 3rd brake light in the boot.

is it safe and will nothing burn? I don't know anything about electricity, but I've heard that cables and fuses can burn out, if it is completely safe, I would like to do it in my car. thanks

I have replaced the front indicators on my galaxy mk2 (2013) and had to try a few different brands as I either go hyperflash or CAN bus error messages. Am trying to replace the brake bulbs but have so far not managed to get any that worked, all give me error messages that the bulbs are faulty. Have ordered some Osram resistors to see if those will get rid of the error messages. 1- have you not had any error or warning messages? 2- As you say that the front LEDs are very powerful I wonder what oncoming drivers will make of that? It would be great to see what the difference is between you driving at night with the halogens and then compare it with the LEDs. Also if possible do a pattern compare against a wall to see how the cut-offs compare

Hiya some good points there. I do have an error message on the dash to let me know there is a bulb out. Was there before i changed them tho when all halogen bulbs was working. And sounds like a good video to make dsy time and night time drive to compair the differance.

Didn’t you get a light warning on your dash? I’ve got the same h7 led’s and every half a minute I get a bong and warning.

Most cars have led now it’s commonplace. You can get ones such as these that will pass an mot it depends on the type of bulb

@@CanterRsps No, they won't - if the headlights are designed for halogen lightbulbs. What this chap has done in the video is a mot failure right away

@@ZorgR hi thanks for your comment. I had these leds in both the ST and MK4 and goes threw MOT each time. I have asked the guy who MOTs my car and he said there fine.

Know them blue Allen key screws you got holding the grill in? What size did you use? Also will they fit in where the headlight screws are? Just bought a mk4 mondeo and noticed there are screws missing. 🤦‍♂️ liking these videos too. Keep up the great work!! 😁

That's all nice but it's a mot failure. You'll have to undo your work (or it will be undone for you) - it's not road legal to stick LEDs into headlamps designed for halogen.

Oh whatever…🙄🙄 You’re saying it’s not road legal, I had LEDs in dip including the main beam using high quality bulbs and it passed through the MOT each time and I thought white is a legal colour. White or yellow are the legal colour….. The testers are not allowed to remove the back cover and look whatever what bulb it uses or check whatever if they are type approved during the test. All they just check is if the beam pattern, alignment is correct and within tolerance

Do you even need the plastic adapters on the mk4/4.5? Couldn't you just remove the locking collar fit into the seat on the back of the unit, then fit the retaining spring over it locking it in place then just twist the LED buld unit in place? That's what I'd do 🙂
