Several years after I saw for the first time a Ford Mondeo STW (Super Tourenwagen) I decided it was time to made a video about it. The car is powered by a 2.0 litre V6 engine with around 300 bhp at 8200 rpm.

The v6 in the Mazda was a Ford duratec v6 😊

Not a Mazda... This was a Porsche design done for Ford with Cosworth and Ford collaborating on the final production design. The Mazda V6 of the same vintage was a redeveloped Duratec. The Probe however had a Mazda derived V6 and not the Duratec. Hence the confusion. The Duratec was also the base for the Aston Martin V12.

@@knightsnake7587 If I'm not mistaken, these are the ex BTCC cars that used a de-stroked Mazda KL V6 (which were modified/further developed by Cosworth). Not the ford derived engines.

Grazie Bozzy, m'hai letto nel pensiero. Ne ho una stradale (che ovviamente non ha nulla a che vedere con queste, purtroppo per me...) e l'anno scorso ho visto per caso questo Franz Roider (mai sentito prima) a Verzegnis. Da allora cerco filmati vari anche del BTCC dove la Mondeo V6 correva anni addietro. Graditissimo anche per l'abituale e apprezzata qualità. Grazie ancora, salvato tra i preferiti.

Hello Mondeo fans. i got a question about these front bumpers by 0:03 and by 0:28 . can someone tell my what brand and where to get it ?? Btw im from Germany and i think there ain't retailers for this. I want to give my 98' mondeo this aggressive look. all i can find are some cheap ricer bumpers. If there ain't brand's, i have to build it my self. These Mondeos are freakin fast in corners. Great video and great cars mate, keep up making these videos :)

Ford took advantage of a rule that said the engine had to come from the same 'family' and as the Probe was basically a re-bodied MX-6 they were able to use the Mazda engine which was smaller and lighter than the Duratec V6.

Its hard to believe that engine came out of a mazda, it sounds like some European engine like a Lancia or something

+Phil King The Mazda KL series V6 is still based off the Duratec block, as I found out when I was rebuilding my ST24, the head gaskets were exactly the same, I think there are differences in the bottom end though
