It's worth pointing out that it took an entire lap for the NASCAR & Supercar to close the gap on the GT, and they literally only blasted past it on the straightaway at the finish line, where their massive horsepower differences give the biggest advantage. To be honest, I'm stunned that a bone stock S550 was able to hold it's own in the corners against two track-prepared cars. Let's keep it real here: If their HP were equal to the GTs, they wouldn't have been able to catch it.
@slackjaw7035 жыл бұрын
To be fair, it’s not like they all took the flag at the same time. If you subtract the massive advantage each of the other cars got over the nascar version, it would’ve been easier visually for most to understand just how far behind the other cars would’ve been. Still, it was set up to be close, and it was. The stock mustang did great. It’s amazing that we can buy one and drive it on the road. Cool time to live.
@NBSV15 жыл бұрын
They spent quite a bit of time closely behind the regular mustang and weren’t really trying to pass it like a race. If they all started together and ran a few laps for the race cars to get up to temp you’d see how big the difference is.

NBSV1 The street car got about an 8 sec head start, the supercar, got a couple more secs head start, then the nascar took off. The start times must’ve been based on previously run best times to make the end as close as possible.
@sixstanger005 жыл бұрын
@@NBSV1 All starting at once would've ended the race before the first corner. The NASCAR & Supercar are much more powerful than the GT and thus would've got the hole shot. Lot of comments on here about limiting HP on some NASCAR oval tracks. While this is true, as the governing body gets a little nervous as speeds get around 200mph. I propose a different route. I would like to see unlimited HP, and slow the cars down with the aero package. Take a little handling away and they wont be able to go that fast. When you limit power with a restrictor plate on super speed ways you end up with a bunch of gokarts just holding it to the floor all the way around. While this does add the element of strategy for passing such as the importance on drafting. I think taking areo away and leaving HP in reserve for passing would make for a much more entertaining race. We would quickly see who has the driving skill and who doesnt.

Put some alloys on, and some better rubber. That wheel/tyre combo is iconic, yeah, but outdated. Step 3: aero. They had something with those CoT racers from the mid 2ks. Try that again. Step 4: more road courses. America has some iconic, and great technical tracks, that are still fast! Use em mate. Step 5: EFI, and sequential gearboxes. I'll admit, I love the sound of a carb sucking in air. But these are supposed to be modern racers. Make em modern. Step 6: Added safety. Give em lights already! Step 7: Better suspension setups.
