Ford Navigation Unlocked For My Ford Touch Sync 2

I was playing with ForScan again seeing what else could be done to my current MFT Sync 2 system. I stumbled upon a forum which was able to give the non-navigation system navigation by changing a number in the APIM module from a 0 to a 4 and doing an update to the sync system. This video shows how easy it can be done.

These Fords are picky how the files are on the USB flash (thumb) drive. After extracting the .zip file, go into the newly created folder and copy the contents to you flash drive, you do not want the "parent" folder, just it's contents! This is the same way that you should copy .mp3 files to a flash drive if you have pre-built playlists and you want to use them.

Just added navigation to my 2013 Focus ST. For what it's worth, I was already on Sync 3.8 via Ford's latest update on the website, but just to be sure I tried to update it via the link in this video. I got a message on my screen saying I was already up to date and "installation failed". I proceeded with the Navi Patch upload which was successful and then the master reboot. Once it was done with the reboot I popped the SD card in and all worked great! I'm using an A8 card I got on eBay for $45. Thanks for the very useful video!

Wow was this easy. I downloaded Sync 3.10 and the selection on the APIM module was in plain English: ENABLE NAVIGATION. This worked so well. So far my cost to get maps on my 2015 F250 has been *zero*. The Forscan software is free and I already had the OBD interface. Thanks for the help and the easy to understand video.

As mentioned earlier, the most recent FORscan program lets you just change GPS disabled to enable, walk in the park! I had already done the most recent updates when I bought the 2013 Escape, the version is 3.08xxx, not 3.8 as described in the video, my unit kept saying I had the most recent version and wouldn't load what I had on the flash drive. Everything else went according to directions. Less than thirty minutes start to finish (but I didn't have to update version, saving 15-30 minutes). Waiting on navigation SD card, 2019 maps, $45 on ebay, free shipping. Thanks so much FistofPain for the straightforward video, I did watch about four times while waiting for the OBD II communication module to arrive.

Thank you for posting this! It took me 15 minutes, and that's including the master reboot time and everything. I was already updated to ver. 3.10 the rest worked like a charm. Accomplished it easily with a $17 usb obd2 scanner. You made this painless!

Thank you sir. Once u r finish and navigation is working. U can also turn on the turn by turn directions in the IPC. Using the Focccus application I'm using "VINT ELM327" in high speed, go to Central Config tab, do a "read from BCM" then scroll down to item "#172 Touchscreen" 2. Mine showed "With Display - No Touchscreen, Colour-TFT, DM8 without Navi", yours might be different 3. Choose "With Display - No Touchscreen, Colour-TFT, DM8 withNavi" 4. Write to BCM. Got full navigation for the cost of NAV SD card $50CAD.

For the record Have a 2013 C-Max Energi. And No issues Just follow instructions just change the 4, nothing else. And everything was still there, all the hybrid info displays.

Great job on this! It really helped me. For people looking to do this on 3.10, visit the forums for the new files. The links in his description only work for 3.08. I wasn't able to revert to 3.08 to do this on mine. The link for the navipatch works fine and I didn't need to edit the as built data. Forscan now will do the number changes for you. You only need to *write*, enable navigation.

All I had to do was access the APIM(not the as built one, the regular one) and change navigation disabled to enabled, then I press write and checked that the as built had changed. It was all set! The numbers are a bit different from the ones in this video. I assume that has to do with it being 3.10 instead of 3.08?

It works! So what I did wrong at the navipatch part what I did was at the file I right clicked and put save as and that would save the file as a .png-HTML file so to whoever is stuck on that part as well just hit save and then find the file and move it to a empty usb and it will work. Elm327 showed up today. The SD map card didn't make it yet but I went ahead with the install and everything worked great. Minor differences in the coding showing on mine compared to yours but I still followed your instructions and had no problem doing it. It's now asking for the map card, so once that arrives, I'll be set. The only concern I had was the switch on the Elm327 doesn't show which setting it's on so I didn't move it. Thanks again for such a quality video. Definitely a subscriber and I couldn't be happier.

kcled01 my elm327 doesn’t either but when using forscan it knows and forces you to flip the switch anyways so mark it if you happen to get a chance so you’ll know. Glad it worked out for you.

weird. I checked forscan and it shows that I have a 4 already in the 2nd digit. But, still no navi despite enabling the navi system.

If you follow his exact instructions, this works perfectly. Just installed this on my 2014 F150. Don’t change anything else but that 0 to a 4. Took me about 30 min total. The install seemed like it got stuck at one point but I just had to wait it out.

EFREN PAREDES no, it worked just right for me. I would try “re-downloading” the navi patch file. Also, make sure it’s the only file your usb. Other than that, I don’t know what else it could be. Maybe try a master reset?

I have updated to the 3.10 and tried for hours to get the Navigation to work reading and rereading the forscan forums. Downloading multiple files and it still won't work. I also keep getting an error on sync that it has run out of room or isn't compatible even though I use the same files. I don't know how everyone but me has success with this.

I need some help with MFT/sync 2 in my '15 Escape. I did the update (V3.1), set 7D0-01-02> "0408". display shows "insert SD nav card". I then attempt to load the "nav png" file from my thumb drive, but the "system information" block does not display ANY navigation software installed. Tried it several times, even tried inserting the NAV card with no luck! The display still shows "insert SD card". Does the "nav png" need to be "unzipped" in order to load into the APIM module? I would appreciate any advice you could give. THANK YOU!

Do you think this will work the same with my 2015 Ford Expedition that has Ford MyTouch Sync 2 without navigation (The salesman told me it had navigation, he lied!). So far, I have been unable to get the USB port and the SD card to read/work. Have no clue what the issue is there. Also I can't tell you how many Ford mechanics have told me that my vehicle cannot be modified because "there is no GPS receiver"... But I found oodles of KZbin videos showing how to do it. I like yours, it seems to be straightforward. So, should this work on my Expedition?

I just updated my sync 2 with my touch to 3.10 and I was hoping that this would work. It didn't but I figured it out. You use Hs-can and change setting for apim from disabled to enabled

Downloaded and connected today. After getting an extended license for FORscan, the configuration tab on the program is blank. There are no modules displayed. Reading the forums, others have had the same problem. Anyone able to advise on how to fix. I'm using the same tools in this video and have the latest FORscam downloaded. Before the extended license key, I could see the module buy couldn't make changes.

i have a 2013 ford f150 with my ford sync touch and has version 3.10 already installed and i have tried your steps, it would not let me install update since the update is an older than the one is already installed and when i tried to change the code on the apim i noticed that the numbers are different than yours is that a problem or can i go ahead and change that 0 to a 4 without a problem??

@@sam-y8t Turns out the APIM froze and was replaced under warranty by Ford. They extended the program for 5 years from date of original purchase. They also updated my to Sync 3.10 and included a nav license...which wasn't original equipment hahaha!

Thanks for doing this on an Escape. I've seen other videos but I didn't feel like I had the whole picture. I ordered the ELM and SD card and have already downloaded the Forscan software, extended license, and installed the navi patch and 3.10 update for nav. I must admit that I am a bit nervous as it's my wife's car and she just got it like a month ago. If I heard you right I thought you said we couldn't do global window up/down or am I mistaken? I watched a video of a guy with a 2013 and he enabled it and it worked. He said he used foccus or something like that. So Forscan I thought was a better software choice what's the difference? I looked for that download but didn't see it on their site. Will Forscan let you do this or not? thanks again!!! Update: All is well!!! : )

Navigation is technically working, BUT i still have the big compass and "information" showing. If I press information, it takes me to the navigation screen. Any ideas?

Got this bad boy sorted after ordering what I needed and sweating over in case I messed up. Followed fists instruction but I was in the position where I had 3.8 already so needed the Nav App files which another post thread on here provided me with to install.
