This is just a quick video to show you how to remove the oil cooler since the videos that are currently up on KZbin are no good so here is a quick video to show you how to remove the ford econoline or ford e350 v10 oil cooler.

Definitely recommend using a hex socket instead of the T70 socket.

Thanks for this. On my 2015 5.0, the duffus at the plant didnt properly tighten down the oil temp sensor which is threaded in directly behind that unit. I need to remove this to tighten it back down. There is absolutely no space to do it in place.

The last time I changed oil in my vehicle I got the oil filter off but the bolt was loose on the oil cooler. I wasn't sure how to get it tightened. I got the new filter on and I got it all sandwiched together and so far it has never come loose again. I didn't know what to do when it was kind of in a panic Now I've researched this a little bit. I expect the next time I take the oil filter off the bolt will come with it. Ironically I've been working out of town The last several oil changes have been done at the dealership. This was the first oil change I did myself in a while and no other Ford dealership has made mention of it. I also found a specific torque value for the oil filter bolt for my EcoBoost engine and it's 46 ft lb.

The Ford manual for the 99 says 40.5-44 lb/ft but 46 lb/ft is basically the same thing.

Does a gasket go on top of the oil cooler or do you make one w a gasket maker, I order a replacement one and went to install it when I took the old one off don’t see a gasket and I couldn’t find one to buy online so I’m guess no? Seems weird it wouldn’t have one. When I tried to install the new one w out a gasket it leaks a small about of oil maybe oil coolant mixed from top of cooler. Can you show or reply and let me know if there should be a gasket on the top part of the cooler not the part that attaches to the filter but the top part above that.

Damn, I was getting confused by the oil filter adapter and the oil cooler, not knowing they were 2 different components. I just wasted $10 ordering the adapter gasket, lol. I just need to remove my cooler b/c it's in the way of the #1 oil pan bolt, lol. BTW, the torque spec in the Ford manual for my 99 F250 is 40.5-44 lb/ft for that T70 bolt. I bought the Ford manual from eManualOnline. It's a PITA to setup the virtual machine on a PC, but once done, the company manuals give so much more details than Chiltons or Haynes...

I was about to install one of these ford "performance" oil coolers onto my Mustang GT, because its factory on the Boss 302, but if their oil coolers suck then idk. Are these things prone to leaking? I heard a lot of horror stories about the Mishimoto kit, so i was going to stay OEM, but thats scary to me to have leaking oil/coolant.

Great vid man! I got a 2001 Ford f250 v10 and have coolant in oil. I have water sitting on top of my oil filter. Does this coolers leak coolant into oil?

That put almost the same one on the new ford broncos and a lot of people are complaining that it’s leaking this was honestly the worst deign ever for an oil cooler

I bypassed mine to get home off the road and now I don't remember which hose goes on top and which is on the bottom. Does any have a diagram or suggestion on how to identify which goes where?

I believe far right one is top port and left one is bottom port

Yours must be different than my 2006, because mine took a 14 mm allen wrench, not a torx

Was your engine overheating? I have an overheating issue in my 99 F350 with the V10. I thought it was a blown head gasket because it overheats after about 50 miles of driving and I’m starting to get oil in my coolant but it looks like I don’t have coolant in my oil. I did an engine combustion leak test and it’s not showing any signs of engine combustion failure so I’m thinking that it might be my oil cooler…

Yes. I replaced my oil cooler on my ford f350 and the issue seems to have been fixed as I have taken it on a few hundred mile drive after replacing and no issues at all and everything seems to be running fine. I had to do about 5 flushes thru the cooling system to get all the oil out….
