Had oil in coolant on my Fleetwood Motorhome (Ford F53 chassis) and hoped for a cheaper fix than a head gasket leak. Got oil from the oil cooler hose connections (water side) just as the video suggests, so I am off to get a replacement. Thanks!

Thanks for your video! After watching, I now understand that it's engine coolant running through the cooler (I thought they were putting the engine oil through those hoses to a heat transfer device inside the coolant hose). So... you could lose all your oil into the antifreeze? scary! I wonder if the Triton V10 has an electronic oil level detector? Anyway, I'm a little smarter today, thanks to you! Cheers!

No electronic detector. Lot of highway driving in the Midwest at 70+mph gets your RPMs high enough to push out oil. It's like running a 2 stroke, lol, quart of oil per tank. If I keep mine around 65 or less, don't need to add oil. Push it to 80 for SD interstate driving, more than a quart per tank. Gotta swap mine, doing the coolant lines and pump at the same time (sometimes it would leak coolant when parked, but now I'm wondering if that was from excess pressure due to oil being forced into the coolant system.)

I have similar situation 2006 Ford E350 5.4 engine, in my case once I bypassed oil stop coming into the reservoir and I’ve drained the oil and it was clear of water. I’ve leaned there’s a gasket upstream from the cooler that usually goes bad and causes the issue, will try removing the piece and replace the gasket see where it goes.

I'm looking at buying a 2001 F350 with 277,000 miles on it. It to has the 6.8L V10. The owner says it has oil leak,but it's coming out the exhaust. So where could it be losing it I'm wondering?

I know this is an older video and hopefully you will reply lol. I took the cooler lines off and added a fitting so it bypassed the cooler. Now with the engine running it drips water from cooler and there is water on top of oil filter. My question is.. Do these coolers when faulty leak water into the oil filter? Mine is a 2001 Ford f250 v10 have coolant in oil. Thanks man!

The oil cooler has a gasket on top that separates the oil and water and the gasket can fail pushing oil into the water and vice versa but more often than not it's oil in the water. Only way to know for sure is to change the gasket between the cooler and the engine block

Is it more likely a head gasket if I have coolant in my oil, not oil in my coolant? I have white exhaust and milky oil from dipstick.

Yes. Most likely a head gasket, but it’s worth checking.

Would it be ok to put a hose on the cooler same hose on both tips if it is leaking and do away with the cooler completely

I wouldn’t recommend that but in theory that works. The cooler is pretty easy to change though and reasonably priced on Amazon.

Is there a way that coolant could enter the oil from the cooler or is the oil pressure higher than the coolant? I’ve got the chocolate milkshake oil.

Chocolate Milkshakes for free?? GREAT! I googled typical oil pressure and coolant pressure. Oil pressure is 25-65psi, Coolant is 4 -30 psi. Even before I googled, I was thinking No way. Sorry, but it sounds like a head gasket! But on some engines, there might be a water jacket through the front timing chain cover??? Sorry, I don't know the Triton V10 that well. I had coolant leak into oil on my 3.4L Pontiac motor, it came from the intake manifold.

Did you watch the video? The oil cooler is underneath the car. The oil filter screws into it

If you don’t have water in your oil pan it’s probably not a head gasket problem
