Ford Sierra RS Cosworth YB number 2 Graham Goode Racing

In this video we decide to go mad and buy another Ford Sierra RS Cosworth which has a Graham Goode Racing built YB Engine. As Rob points out in the video we can't keep both and are undecided which to keep.

To be honest I have to disagree about thinking they will keep the white one and sell the black one. I think the white one was a heart over head decision rather than the black one which was more of a head over heart decision. The black one is more usable as it is whereas the white one isn't something you want to use on the roads very often.

MIn the late 80's I was on a business trip to Melksham. The owner of the pub I stayed in had a three door. He offered me the passengers seat for a trip around the back roads in the area. The car was an absolute mind blower & it will remain as one of my fondest motoring memories. Since then the only car I liked more was a BMW M5, again in the passengers seat and also in UK. I liked it so much I came home and purchased a 5 series as a daily driver. I could relate to the look on Rob's face when he drive the black car, big thanks for letting me relive via your smile!

This took me right back, in 1991 I traded my rear wheel drive sapphire cosworth for a 4x4 with a 350bhp Graham Goode conversion, I had It 1 day before it got nicked, I found it 6 weeks later stripped bare. Keep the 3 door Rob, if you want thrills and spills upgrade it, but getting it back to OEM is where the investment is, great video

I remember the good old bad old days of the late 80s and early 90s when Hot Hatch and Performance Saloon theft was rife. Anything with a GTi, XR, GTE, or Cosworth badge was very vulnerable to being lifted from it's owner, thrashed around the Blackbird Leys Estate and used for a spot of Ram Raiding, before being stripped for parts or set alight. It got so bad that nobody could insure them in the end. As soon as you said the letters G, T, and I, the company would hang up on you. I remember a buddy of mine getting a quote of £20k for a Sierra Cosworth being sold for a quarter of that. Madness. Do kind of miss them though. My two 80s favourites are the Sierra Sapphire Cosworth, and the Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9. Marvelous bits of kit. Commiserations on the loss of your Cossie. Did you ever get another one?

For me you have to keep the three door, i would love see it fully restored. The whale tale three door is iconic car and is sort after. The sapphire was never so popular and that one is really a track day car. but what a machine. You will have no trouble sell it that's for sure

Absolutely brilliant. I'm in goosebump alley.. All through the 80's and until the end of 92 I worked in truck engineering at FMC didn't get to own one but driven them many times I'm 65 now and still get a buzz from thinking about those cars.

They are both beautiful classic cars, and treasures in their own right, if I were to have to make the unenviable decision of which one to keep, it would have to be the black one, as you said, it is more practical, can be driven anywhere daily, plus as it’s a standard road car it would really benefit from the restoration you are considering, then it would become the ultimate show piece to people interested in the Cosworth marque, also as you identified, it could promote the Salvage Rebuilds channel in a more regular and practical way.

I'm a Sapphire guy, always have been. Although the trend in the 80s was for hatchbacks, the lines of the Sapphire were perfect. But, as you say, the Saph is a track car, realistically. Road legal but, not really a daily driver. The hatch is so much more usable and probably more fun on public roads. Tough decision because all Cossies are rare and precious and it would be a dream and an honour to own any. It's a nice problem to have though. Best of luck and enjoy them while you can.
