Ford V10 Engine Removal from a E350 Motorhome

Take the oil filter off it’s a torx bit inside the housing and it’ll come off. It’s important removing and installing. I’m doing one today

I might be pulling a v-10 from an 06 econoline soon. I have been wanting to modify an engine hoist to lower the vertical post to the same height as the engine then driving it right in to hook to the engine.

Thanks. I am still having problems with the torque converter bolts. I'm about to try this too. i have nost stuff disconnected and was hoping not to have to fully pull the engine mounts out. What a nightmare this project is.

I'm sure you'll get it out of there one way or another. Does get a little tricking getting that 750lb engine out of there. Its a bit more weight to move around than you would think. Good luck with your project!

For those who don't have a hoist, you can still take it apart from the cab mostly, out of the cold, that's how I did it. But it required every single ratchet trick I had from the 100+ duralast kit. Including a few special things I didn't have. If you are going to take this apart and don't have all the gear, be sure to grab a large breaker bar, it'll make what's impossible easier, and make what's moderate, laughable.

How much can be taken apart from the cab? Can you take the heads off? It doesnt look like theres enough room to pull the valve covers off while its still in the vehicle.

How hard is getting the doghouse off on one of these? Got a job on one Monday. 97 e350 motorhome with a v10.

Depends on the rust factor. Fortunately this one didn't have much rust and wasn't hard to take apart. Good luck with your project!
