151mph...pffffssssttt. In practice for the 1971 Bathurst race, David MacKay saw 162mph with a "loose" qualifying engine and it was still climbing before hitting the brakes. Fred Gibsons car was even looser, with the famous hand grenade motor and he took the front spoiler off and saw over 165mph with a clear run out of Forest Elbow. But of course the tighter engine went in for the race. When you took the front spoiler off, at over 150 you were getting 1/3 of a turn of nothing in the steering, it got so light on the front end. The wind would catch it and take you from one side of the track to the other. A gust caught Spencer Martin and he got air under the front wheels coming over the hump. He ended up 400m down the escape road to town. He was not impressed. They were men driving those things back then.

XA Falcon could have continued XY's legacy with the phase 4 if it wasn't for the supercar scare? even XB could have continued as phase 5 or phase 6?

XY Falcons are nice but the GT 351 Falcon has made all 6 cylinder Utes and wagons and sedans very very pricey. But still has a very beautiful grill. And the uTe was beautiful
