Could be shorter explanation since most persons decide on something w in a mijute? Dr speaks slower, allowing for greater comprehension and recall. So apparently it's cereal and orange juice. One thing to remember about the cereal and orange juice we consume today compared to what our grandparents and great grandparents ate back in the day. Back then cereals didn't contain high fructose corn syrup and preservatives, and orange juice back then was squeezed by hand. Also, the grains used to make our wheat and corn flours is treated with glyphosate (Roundup) which destroys the gut biome. In addition, the orange juice sold in supermarkets has been seriously adulterated, often squeezed and juiced at the factory and placed into huge vats that are vacuum sealed, thus degrading nearly all the nutritional value from the juice. When it is processed and packaged into containers they add sugar, orange essential oil, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) to the juice to make it drinkable again. So the breakfast is already highly processed, and it's the consumption of this adulterated food that causes inflammation in the body and causes cuts in the arteries that scar up.
@peat117 ай бұрын

Dr Brewer what is your position on full fat yogurt, unsweetend, with cinnamon, chia seeds, blue berries, and some stevia?
@jeannettebalcom68262 ай бұрын
The yogart should be grass fed, organic & full fat is best. All the other ingredients should be organic too. You've got to be very careful with stevia so as to not add too much or it could drive you to crave/eat more sweets. And to try to not add too many berries cuz they're sweeter than you think. The healthy balance life can seem complicated coming from the place where we never gave much thought to eating previously. I do really like your choice though cuz it's exactly what I do too. Happy day 😊

I will have this 3 times a week. On other days I will have eggs, and or serveral eggs mixed with high protein pancake mix and fry that up with a little olive oil. Top off with a little butter and just a small amount of pure maple syrup. Hi Dr. Ford, is Trader Joe's version of Rolled Oats and Ancient Grains considered bad for you? See the link here and look at the back of the package (included in the pictures). I make the "muffin in a cup" a few times per week. It includes an egg, and I put a half banana in it instead of apple sauce. Even though they're not steel cut oats, they're also not quick osts. They include quinoa, choa seeds, flax seeds, etc. So then... is this bad for you to eat? I'm having a hard time knowing.
@Robnord15 ай бұрын
All of those grains you mention (and the bananas ) are very rapidly converted by the body into sugar, hence causing an insulin (the fat storage hormone) spike. The good doctor talked about grains several times here. If Dr. Ford is not explaining it well enough for you, the book _Metabolical_ by Dr.Robert Lustig is excellent. Good luck on your health journey.
@jackieschroeder36235 ай бұрын
@Robnord1 Thank you, yes I watched the whole thing. But he talks about quick oats. What I mentioned is not "quick" oats, and they include flax seeds, quinoa, amaranth, and chia seeds. And I add an egg. So that's why I was wondering. He mentioned that steel cut oats ate different. Again, why I'm wondering.
@Robnord15 ай бұрын
@@jackieschroeder3623 Steel cut oats are less processed, so some people consider them more healthy. They still contain the same carbs though. Many people who Love oats and eat them regularly (like I did for 50 years) have a hard time giving them up , and claim their particular type of oat is healthy. I had no problem giving up all grains (including oats) and many seeds because my food diary proved to me that I'd have unpleasant gut issues every time I ate them. Grains and many seeds touted by the upside down food pyramid as healthy are quite the opposite for many. They are an irritant...and very good for fattening livestock for slaughter. Why? Because they spike blood sugar and the release of insulin...the fat storage hormone. Not telling you not to eat them though. Life is short and everyone picks their own poisons. I'm 7 years into ketovore now, and will probably never go back to grains.

Im hypoglyceemic if I eat wrong. Basically I just try not to over spike my insulin production, like with a captain crunch for breakfast or orange juice. I just eat a ton of protien, get a medium amount of saturated fat and fiber, then eat carbs later and i just know when to eat them. Ive had this issue since highschool but i never usually have any issues because i just eat a certain way. I can have carbs, i can have donuts, i can eat sugar, just later. Later after protiens, fats, and fiber. Also if im lifing weights alot. If im not lifting, i dont really crave sugar much. i do cardio, 90 - 130 minutes a week. Some weeks intense. OTher weeks less intense. Im 42, having gained much weight since 10th grade. 170 - 184 lbs depending on if im eating a ton and lifting weights. So, am i ok, probably, but not for sure.

I am absolutely lost here,, now they say forget the oatmeal but not the steel cut oatmeal cereal is out of the picture no more orange juice like we grew up on our whole lives and now sausages and pork rinds for breakfast are good for us,,,what the hell is going on here man..!! None of this is making any sense,,today this is bad for you tomorrow that’s bad for you the next day they’re both bad for you and next week they’re both good for you.. this is a vicious circle that is doing nothing but causing mass confusion..!!!! I don’t have a clue on what I should be eating now,, and being 65 years old and having a little plaque in my arteries that I don’t want to get any worse I am completely lost on what I’m supposed to eat …??? I know you’re a really smart guy and a lot of this that you talk about is at a different level of intelligence for most of us.. can you please make a video that basically just says what we should not have and what we should be eating for dummies,,, because a lot of these meals we try to create always have certain added ingredients that are sort of traditional like for example we eat meat and there’s the potatoes that go with it or we eat fish and there’s the rice that is traditionally served with it,, and most of the time we’re doing good By eating some thing we should be and adding something to it that we shouldn’t be.. give us a few meals that we can just stick with like that one meal for breakfast that one for lunch that one for dinner and I’ll deal with the having it every day as long as it’s good for me..!!! I’d love to have some scrambled eggs with sausages cut up in there but I was always under the impression that the sausages were bad for us,, The absolute worst with the saturated fats,, and now that’s not an issue..??? So I’ve been eating oatmeal every morning then I learned that it can’t be regular oatmeal it has to be the steel cut type and now I’m hearing that it’s all carbohydrates anyways and it’s all bad for us so there goes that meal that I was adding cut up prunes into it and was actually in looking forward to it and enjoying it every morning and now it’s basically all carbohydrates and sugars and the absolute worst for me.. talk about getting pissed off,, it brings you to the point of just throwing your hands up in the air and saying screw it I’ll eat with taste good and go that route until it’s over with,, and dying isn’t something I want anything to do with.. so here we are totally lost again..!!!!

Great video, even though I disagree with parts of it. I believe obesity drives insulin resistance and not carbohydrates consumption. Eating unprocessed fiber-rich carbohydrates in normal quantities should keep blood glucose below 140 mg/dl and can be a part of a healthy diet. The main causes of obesity are processed foods and seed oils. Carbohydrates consumption did not increase so much in population level, but the seed oils, fried foods, and processed foods were increasing dramatically.
