Love your videos. I’m a retired Medical Laboratory Scientist and used to perform thousands of A1c’s every week at a major medical center. When our director asked me to run a new reference range study to make certain our reference range was still good, out of thousands of “healthy” blood donor samples I used, I couldn’t skim off enough samples that met the basic requirement of good metabolic health to complete the study. That’s bad news folks. My husband and I are in our mid 70’s, no health issues, no prescription medications. I make my own huge batches of sauerkraut several times a year, ferment our own organic Greek yogurt and kefir, ferment our own kombucha, and bake sourdough bread from organic ancient grains such as Einkorn, Spelt, and Kamut, which I mill myself at home. I loved your list of top foods. We eat all of them regularly except the salmon. I simply cannot abide the smell or taste of fish. We choose our medical providers carefully, but I honestly believe that most doctors are not well informed about “health.” They are experts in disease.

There is no money in preventative care for the medical profession. Only appointments to hand out prescriptions and endless tests/procedures. Just think about if everyone didn't eat sweets, flossed and brushed their teeth twice daily- the need for dentistry would diminish. The same holds true in the medical field. NONE of these students in med school are ever taught ANYTHING about nutrition, diet etc. They are only taught to treat symptoms with pills, injections etc.
I have loved avocados from the first time I tried them... the key is to eat them with a little salt and pepper, delicious!

I've been eating nuts for over 40 years - I have a large gallon glass jar with a mixture of all of the nuts mentioned - I also add a few seeds - mostly pumpkin as well - I'm also on an 18:6 intermitant fast - each day I break my fast around 2-4pm with 60-80 grams of the mixture and a banana or apple. I'm 72 years old 168lb and 70 " tall - with a good waist to height ratio of 70:32. I eat all of the good things you recommend and often recommend them to friends and family - I usually take a 30 minute walk after dinner at around 7:30pm. If it's not too cold and walk regularly between 3 - 4 miles and participate in 5 weekly exercise sessions resistance/ball/seated. I feel healthier than I have ever done - love your videos.

The statement at 30:00 is a real eye opener for me. I’ve avoided all sugars, even so-called ‘hidden’ sugars, for years, and kept quite active. But, following what seemed to be the best official medical advice, I kept on eating fruit, a lot of it. Even the diabetes associations here in the U.K. advise ‘if you’re diabetic or at risk, eat plenty of fruit, it will help’. That didn’t work for me, despite the lack of other sugars, my weight and waistline kept creeping up between diets, and I’ve just been diagnosed as prediabetic. I now realise that, for me, a carb is a carb, and my body just cannot deal very well with them.

As a Type 2 diabetic, the food pyramid has never made sense to me. Neither have the diets I have been told to follow. I craved carbs and highly processed food despite everything. A month ago I decided to try the carnivore diet. The craving for carbs and highly processed foods is gone. I can be around sweets without being compelled to eat them. That is pretty close to miracle status. About three weeks on carnivore, my triglycerides dropped significantly. They are still a bit high. A1c decreased a noticeable amount. Hopefully I will be able to stop most, if not all of my meds over time. 🤞

Google "avocado water bacteria" and you will see that you have to keep avocados away from water : The FDA does not recommend this practice," a spokesperson told Newsweek. "The main concern is with the possibility that any residual human pathogens (i.e. Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp, etc.) that may be residing on the avocado surface may potentially multiply during the storage when submerged in water. On the other hand, you have to wash the skin of the avocado before cutting it.

I'm a 64 yr old male who has done intermittent fasting 18-6 for 7 yrs. l lost around 50 lbs doing this and have never gained it back- 6 ft tall, 233 lbs to 185 lbs. Over the last 7 years I have explored/researched almost every single thing you suggest to eat. I literally eat EVERYTHING you mention in this video- avocado, SARDINES- lots of sardine filets -7 tins a week, kimchi/real fermented sauerkraut, kefir, unsweetened organic greek yogurt, several of the raw nuts, real grass fed butter, real pastured eggs, bacon, organic 2% milk , grass fed/finished beef. I eat a can of tuna say 2-3x/month. I exercise as well- lift weights 2-3x/wk, HITT training (sprints) on a real bike outdoors 2-3x/wk. I eat zero fruit, drink zero fruit/orange juice, avoid any added sugar, use organic monk fruit sweetener and or organic stevia powder- no maltose added etc. I take vitamins/ supplements. I filter all my drinking/coffee/tea water with a gravity fed , dual 7" PUREONE ceramic filters. As you say much of the taste issues can be conquered with time and more time. I like the taste of everything I listed in this comment. Now I just have to learn to live with the INSANITY/CORRUPTION that is in the USA/WESTERN culture/politics/education system/central fiat banking, big FOOD/AGRA, Big Pharma, an FDA/CDC run by bought and paid for shills, military industrial satanic complex etc etc etc. Did I mention I think Earth has been visited for millions of years by "non Earth intelligences" and they literally live and work with humans in deep black military programs since before WW2? I'll save that for another day. Thanks for the very informative video? It confirmed I'm on the correct path with food choices.

Summary : Dr. Ford's dedication to health education is truly inspiring, offering life-saving insights with clarity and evidence-based recommendations. His guidance on avoiding heart attacks by choosing the right foods is invaluable. This video outlines the top five foods everyone should include in their diet to improve heart health: avocados, fermented foods (like yogurt, kimchi, and sauerkraut), nuts, salmon, and flaxseed. Each is packed with nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, which support cardiovascular health. However, Dr. Ford also highlights potential drawbacks and suggests mindful consumption, ethical sourcing, and gradual dietary adjustments to overcome challenges while reaping their benefits.

Growing up in California, everybody ate and loved avocados - guacamole... when I went back east to go to school in the 70s, they didn't have avocados... they had never even heard of the word. So of course in the following decades when they became generally available, they had to train themselves to like them. Some never did. There is a "window" in our early development for language and food. Make sure your baby/toddler gets the opportunity to try every good/healthy food available (like liver)... they'll carry it with them for the rest of their lives.

Avocado taking you out of ketosis makes zero sense. Just... how? Nearly all of the carbs in it are fiber! As for nuts, you probably need to switch to lower carb nuts. Not all of them are equal by any means. Too much cashew and peanut will definitely do this, but there should be zero fear of macadamias and walnuts. They're nature's fat bombs.

On the yogurt, I buy unsweetened, unflavored and add either stevia or allulose to them for the sweetener. Then use an extract (Vanilla), zest (lemon or orange) or unsweetened fruit compote for flavor. As for the fish, Arctic Char is right up there with salmon. Fresh caught trout, if you like to fish, is also healthy. Trout are part of the salmon family.

I've read that flax seeds will loose potency shortly after grinding, also you should soak walnuts overnight to remove that black skin, it is high in oxalate.
all natural, fresh ground pb....not the store bought kind loaded with sugar and salt.

I now enjoy one serving of it every day instead of just a couple of times a week, using it as a replacement for rice. For the first time in my life, my cholesterol levels are perfectly healthy. I'm also a big fan of kefir. I used to have allergies to berries, but when I blend them with kefir, it surprisingly keeps the inflammation at bay.

Thanks, nice video. Clumpy kefir is just further fermented. I make my own kefir and actually prefer to ferment it until it separates. Before separation, the carbs are only reduced by about 25% from the original milk. When it separates, it has been reduced to 33% of the original. Most of the carbs are i the liquid. If one filters it, I use coffee filter, to make my greek kefir I can reduce the carbs to about 3g/100. (compared to 12-14g/100g in the original).

One thing to be aware of about avocado pears: they are pretty high in oxalates. This may not beof concern to most people, or may be something where the trade-off is worth it in terms of all the other benefits. Actually a large number of good foodstuffs are high in ixalates, spinach and chard, almonds, raspberries, turmeric, and much more.

I am in my 50s, my fasting blood sugar on my last test was 72, so I am adding in more fruits and corn and honey. Lowest all cause mortality range for fasting blood sugar is purportedly 80-90. My H1A1c was 5.4. That is the lowest all cause mortality measurement for non-diabetics in a large study on the subject, so I appear to be good there.

Hmm 72 fasted blood sugar but still had 5.4 A1C? Anyway where is the source of your information on all cause mortality. 5.4 is inching closer to prediabetic which is not good right..?

Avocado raises my glucose. Ferment dairy half/half with l reuteri and Burgarian Bifida . I am a Carnivore so don’t do fermentation of plants. I do vinegar with “mother”, though. I salt coffee and tea meat. I take capsules of Natto. I eat fish salmon sardines. We ate sword fish in my twenties abruptly stopped when mercury scare occurred.

I cannot eat avocado unfortunately as I am salicylate intolerant and get severe reactions to it. I have to steer clear of certain healthy foods. I can't take aspirin either due to the salicylate levels. Before I developed the intolerance, I used to be able to eat so many healthy foods, where I now have to be cautious.

Kefir is great, I enjoy it a lot and have a full cup every morning and sometimes more later. I found I was going through it very fast, trying to get high quality was getting expensive so I started making my own. I use organic 100% grass fed milk and I think it's better than store bought.

I cook with avocado oil and use extra virgin olive oil on salads. I eat a Mexican Hass avocado with sauerkraut and extra virgin olive oil and it tastes very good, sometimes I add salad greens and tomato. For breakfast I always have plain coconut milk yogurt from the So Delicious brand and sometimes I eat the coconut Chobani Greek yogurt which flavor I prefer over the coconut milk one but the Chobani has more than 3 times the amount of sugar of the coconut milk yogurt.

Thank you Doc. May I suggest: w/the walnuts (burnt)...if high temperatures in processing, perhaps limit these, as if too high a temperature, the H atoms connected to the C atoms in the ("good" fatty acids in the nuts - like w/fish - are vulnerable to the high temps), thus potentially changing the molecular structure to something that is no longer beneficial to one's body.
