Mark Patterson is an English former footballer who made nearly 500 appearances in the Football League playing as a midfielder for Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, Bury, Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield United, Southend United and Blackpool. He went on to play, and then to manage, in non-League football.

Didn't play long at Sheff Utd but he went down well with the fans here, a bit of a fans favourite. He was like a little Yorkshire Terrier in midfield, not the best technical ability but plenty of heart, good workrate and tough in the tackle. He was told to win the ball back and give it to Gordon Cowans, who was an excellent player with high passing quality, that's when Howard Kendall was our manager making us play some keep possession passing fantastic football but HK left us returning to Everton.

Howard was a real Rolls Royce of a player for us. As for Paddy, Rovers through and through and was gutted when we sold him.

Mark was a very good player for Bolton especially in 92/93 but I have to say I can't see the resemblance to Princess Diana - enjoyable interview though - most footballer interviews are bland and boring but this isnt
