BTS brought so much prestuge, pride and money to Korea and it is so disappoinng that they are still can't be exempted, they have more contributions to the country than those classical singers and olympic medalistss; but what can we do, they are under the SK Government!!! Well Nicolas, you bet they'll still be huge as ever. ARMYs aren't going anywhere. We all will be waiting for their comeback in 2025. Maybe some of us would check out other groups while BTS is away but most of us are here only for BTS and our support only goes out to these boys. Knowing BTS and Big Hit, I'm pretty sure they have lots of BTS contents + each member's solo songs for ARMYs to support and pay attention to until 2025.

Please. It'll be 2023 soon and I feel like I'm still living in 2020 because time flies so fast. Haha. I think what the media don't understand is most ARMYs are not kpop fans which means we don't act like most of them who jump from one group to another. I, for one, am not into kpop. I might watch some HYBE girl group contents but nobody has my loyalty and dedication but BTS because those 7 boys are the only ones who have spoken to my heart and soul. They didn’t really have a choice did they. The fact that the government were too weak to make a decision on giving them an exemption and were going to use them up to suit their own ends probably was a major factor. No group at the height of their success to date want to have to disappear, I just hope that they stay safe and come back to us as they left us. Wonderful young men 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 the French guy is obviously not a fan and thinks another band will be able to replace them, ridiculous, only fickle one offs will be so easily swayed. You can be proud of the boys for their achievements but there is no pride in a forced activity like enlistment. I can't understand how people can not grasp the bigger picture... when you should be fighting for them you are rolling over and taking this like a dog that's been kicked. This isn't a moment to be proud but rather fight for them, to stand up and do something they and HYBE can't do and that is DEMAND military exemption. Military service is compulsory not a choice in Sth Korea, they can't not go, even if they don't want to. They can't even say they don't want to go without getting Government backlash. 🤦‍♀️ Army needs to step up and fight for them, a lot of foreign Army (especially the older, wiser, more mature ones) are fighting back and are indicating a Boycott of Sth Korea and Sth Korean products, unless the Sth Korean Government steps up and provides them with an exemption. BTS is not just about music...they are family to Army. They all are very beloved as individuals and there is an uniqueness to them that ensures they are not just a passing fad. Take Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Journey and others as an example. You remain a fan for life. What they all have in common is the love and respect they have garnered from their fans for decades. We can look forward to much more from BTS as a group and solo artists.

"K wave" never started tht it will stop lmao. K- con in LA is the peefect example for it. So many groups also COULDN'T COLLECTIVELY SELL OUT the stadium (i forgot the name was it rose bowl or citifield?). AND BTS had sold it out 2 times back in 2018-19. The "records" other grps are breaking is the records bts has made and broken and outdid 5 yrs back itself. So to comapre some random grp to the biggest boyband on the planet is plain insulting to BTS. Not to mention the cheap ways these grps hv sales. Skz albums hv 10 ver and their fans swear its 3 when billboard itself confirmed it. Their albums can be found in the trash, roadsides in huge amt. thrown away by their fans. The price of the album of 17 is cheaper than chicken nuggets with 20+ ver and 280 photocards. And u r comparing those grps to BTS who has an album of 60$+ with 1 ver and they sell more than 2.5m+ copies in 30 MINS. (IT WAS THE BE ALBUM). If those grps are actually close to bts why can't they sell atleast 45k+ stadiums?? Why do they struggle to sell 20k??

As always this was a comprehensive, respectful, and in-depth discussion about what’s going on with BTS, which is always welcome by all ARMYs! We KNOW they will never lose their ARMY, as we say “we are in this Bangtan **** for life!” Although I believe they should have gotten the exemption because they have contributed more to international knowledge and love of S Korea than anyone else in history probably, they are respectful and hardworking young men who don’t want to be a part of any controversy and will come out of their military duty looking even more like the heroes that they are. As an American and a music lover, I’m always looking for something that touches my heart in music and they are IT. And this collaboration with Coldplay, my other favorite band is perfect for the messages they both bring to our whole world of inclusion, peace, and love. I’m Not worried about their fame fading, I don’t think that will happen - they are at the level of The Beatles now and that never fades. I am worried about how they will be treated within the military as ARMY do not want them to be used politically or hurt in any way. I pray for their safety and well-being always. BTS are not replaceable. Many ARMY are not k-pop fans. This is a PR DISASTER for the SK government! It is evident to the whole world that BTS should be given an exemption - they have done more for SK business & SK promotion than anyone else. The government hypocrisy in giving classical musicians, Olympic athletes, chaebols, etc exemptions is obvious & insulting. Tottenham Hotspur footballer Son Heung-min only had to do a three-week mandatory military service & was given an exemption from the mandatory 21-month military service. BTS absolutely deserve this compromise too.

It is about fairness. They did more than their share of national prestige to merit the same exemption of artists and athletes before them. Being treated same as other males is not about being equal because they are not. Stop catering to some disgruntled masses/public opinion vs. telling them what is more important to the country. Any attempts to misuse them, will be noticed. I hope that envious people and other closed-door poor treatment doesn’t happen to them in service. We even as non Koreans are very proud about our bts. They are dutiful towards their country as well as their armys. That’s how incredible they are. They have given us enough memories to patch up the two years. No army will drop bts for another band. It’s just that we won’t get updated about them regularly once they are in the military even if they will be doing music in there. Not all of them are going in together so we have some one out there for us. Personally my worry is that they are very precious to us n at times our hearts pet them and if the military stay is not that comfortable for them. I wish they will be the same cute sweet and playful personalities when they come back. That they will be looked after in the military for army training is not a joke.

They can be different, but I will love them all my life. All people I knows before and after army (my country have it too) changed significantly. Military is a real end of youth, I have not seen previous playful, cute behavior in my friends after come back. My biggest worry is their safety, mental and physical well-being if we think about their huge popularity. There are no guards, no personal space, privacy or breaks to rest. And all I can do is to pray BTS will be okay when back🙏

Oh Army for life, however long that is as I'm currently 54! I follow no-one else, and had given up on modern music with its morally questionable lyrics and conduct. However BTS changed all that, and I'll forever be grateful to have found them! No question majority of other Army's feel the same, so no matter where BTS are, ARMY's will be too. Regarding enlistment, I'm proud of our Tannies, however not sure how they will fare in the military. Heard enough horror stories that I'm VERY concerned that these amazing and wonderful young men return to us the same. I believe they deserved the exemption, as other artists and sports stars have had, and I believe Government Ministers family members have not gone to the military either, and yet NONE of these others have ever inspired me to want to learn Hangugeo or eat Korean food. In fact, South Korea was NEVER on my radar at all until BTS. So to me, this smacks of a disregard of the impact BTS has around the world and a sense of ungratefulness from the Govt of SK. Not happy with that at all, and seeing the world as it is at present regarding Russia and Ukraine, what happens if that all escalated? Where would we be then?? Or BTS??? I'm watching everything with a wary eye, and deciding to vote my feelings by keeping my purse closed.

Their is a huge amount of Army that are never going to just up and start following another group and I find it insulting that people seem to expect that that is what is going to happen. I feel that BTS enlisting was a huge middle finger to the people who used them for their own gain, not recognizing or appreciating the wealth, recognition, and peaceful message that BTS has brought to the world. Army will not waiver from the boys- EVER... they are not JUST a "boyband", or an act,... or entertainment- they are humans who have been living under the stress of wondering what will happen with their future as they waited for the Government to decide what their fate would be. Financial Analysts internationally are literally across the media taking the piss of what they term Sth Korea poor judgement in not giving Sth Korea's greatest export BTS an exemption. And international Army are extremely angry and have already started to Boycott Sth Korean by cancelling holiday plans that included Sth Korea as a destination and Sth Korean products, this will impact the entire Sth Korean economy and ultimately its citizens. But even before the international fans Boycott Forbes international were reporting a 5 Billion downturn in the Sth Korean economy because of BTS enlistment, this is why the military have been so eager to say they can continue to perform while in the military. But that has made international Army even more ANGRY as they see that as abuse, that it will be too physically and mentally draining. BTS has HEART. That is what drives their lyrics...their love for the World they live in, their families, ARMYs, and their mother country. They avoid scandals and set good examples, continue to promote education by standing for more degrees, they are ALWAYS open to learning new things (e.g., languages, skills, arts, tech knowledge, etc.), they are (quietly) philanthropic, World Record Holders (Guinness, Billboard, more), speakers at the UN GA and White House), extremely talented, and they are GORGEOUS. That doesn't even cover all the ways they are assets to us all...or the reasons for the symbiotic loyalty that exists between them and ARMY, and why we'll *ALWAYS* be there when they've finished their military obligations. Very positive foreign responses. It's true BTS volunteered to give an answer to begin their Military Service Prematurely because of their love for their Country & its Citizens. They truly care about how EVERYONE feels. However it was NOT the most sensible thing for them to do for 3 reasons: 1) BTS already fulfills their Government's, Country's, National, Civic duties & Public Servant obligations for 5+ years, by mandatorily performing their Diplomatic, Patriotic, National, Civic duties & Services to the South Korean Government, their Country & it's Citizens by being Diplomatics with real Diplomatic Passports & Full Diplomatic Immunity that is recognized by the United Nations Organization, South Korea & the other Countries of the world including the USA. BTS are also Ambassadors, Representatives & Envoys of South Korea to the World, the United Nations & Ruling Powers of various Countries including the USA's President Biden. BY U.N. & SOUTH KOREAN LAW, DIPLOMATS HAVE FULL DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY with all that it entails. BTS, DIPLOMATS, AMBASSADORS, ENVOYS & REPRESENTATIVES ARE NOT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DUE TO THEIR SPECIALIZED JOBS & RESPONSIBILITIES. ALL DIPLOMATS HAVE DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY. 2) BTS qualifies for FULL Mandatory Military Exemptions because of: Medical Issues, Medical Reasons, Past Surgeries, Past Injuries, Physiological Scars, Physiological Disorders, Medical Conditions, Depression, Hospitalizations, Paralysis, ... & Therapy that makes them PHYSICALLY UNFIT to perform any types of basic training or Military duties, with the SAME stamina & safety as a South Korean Male WHO'S MENTALLY & PHYSICALLY FIT, needed to ensure that they & those serving around them won't be put at addtional risk of harm while serving under already difficult & mentally challenging circumstances. Those put in harm's way would be South Korean husbands, fathers, uncles, nephews, sons & children. Will you be satisfied then? What if it happened to your family member? Who's fault would it be then? BTS will NOT have any times for breaks or breathers while serving in the Military as all South Korean Veterans & those solders now serving are well aware of. You can not make a physically unfit person serve in a capacity that puts them in situations that will cause mental & physical harm just to satisfy a Warped sense of justice. 3)The World is watching what the outcome will be. ARMY is watching. ARMY only said that they will love, support & wait for BTS not for the South Korean Government. ARMY also said that they will be SAVING MONEY while waiting. As ARMY waits they may feel like making you accountable if anything bad happens or if any harm comes to BTS while away from them. They TRUST BTS...they don't trust you. Other Governments are watching. Some with bad motives. Carefully timing the right moment to strike after you injure yourselves. Personal decisions will be made. Trust might be questioned & perceptions may change. It could negatively effect South Korea's growing favorable impact on the World scene, it may affect public relations, it may close doors opened by all the Goodwill of BTS, K-POP, K-Drama, Entertainment, 1st Generation Businesses, Companies & Industries had built up over the years. Truly a lot of hard decisions to make. The right 1 is ALWAYS to secure stability by protecting your clean funding sources because without them how will the military run? How will the Government run? How will the Country's needs be met? Out of all those in uproar & outcry, who really is going to match, restore or replace the monetary value of your loses? Will they find you suitable replacements for all of the investors & shareholders, stockholders or buyers that leave? If you tax streaming services like KZbin & those companies stop showing South Korea content to the world, who will make up those losses? I support BTS' decision, I would have supported them not going or going, because it is their decision. They love their country, and I hope their country values them enough to assure they are treated well, and have adequate security while serving. BTS members receive death threats and need a bit more security. They have a number of medical conditions, and I hope that is taken into account. I hope sincerely they come out at the end healthy and safe.

The French correspondent’s comments on the exemption is right on. I like that he talked about the service they’ve already been giving to Korea, which was not mentioned at all by two Koreans in another interview in this channel.

I really enjoyed this segment! Their concert in Busan looked so spectacular, and I hope all the Army had the best time.💜 My sister and I got into K-Pop in 2019, and it's amazing to see the growth even since then. It's really cool to see other groups and soloists gaining popularity globally and showing how extremely talented they are. I think people don't see how accepting many of us fans are to cheering on the popularity of K-Pop as a whole and supporting artists that aren't our favorite group or person. Every success within this industry is beautiful from Psy to BTS to Blackpink to Stray Kids to Aespa. I hope everyone continues to have growth and success, and I have no problem waiting for BTS to return as a group whenever they see fit.

Could not finish watching this. I am so sick of hearing the news and others on your program who are sooooo happy that BTS made the decision themselves. I said it once and I will say it again, why do you think BTS waited so long to make this decision? Does anyone not think besides myself, they perhaps were waiting for their country to support them and say you have done so much for Korea we are going to give you exemptions? I feel that the Korean government and their citizens failed BTS. I will not be ordering anything from Korea now or in the future, unless the Korean government has the balls to say oh we made a mistake or to save face and say, “BTS were quick to make decision to soon before we could tell you we will give them exemption. I personally am angry, because Korea will give exemptions to musicians and athletes but not to A group such as BTS, that has done more for their economy in tourism than anyone else in their history. I also believe the reason everyone is so happy that BTS decided to enlist, was so that the three Companies in Korea can now push their groups in front of BTS. Well, newsflash, good luck with that. That will not be happening, because never estimate the power of ARMY.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I think they might've been told that if they win a grammy, govt may exempt them. They made English tracks specifically for billboard and grammy. I think this was the govt ultimatum. But that's just my gut feeling.

BTS military enlistment is not depending on the government decision even if they decide to "exempt" them still BTS are going to enlist. 🤪 The people outside HYBE not connected of BTS are just excited to remove BTS presence. 🤣Those people are just opportunists, thats just it. BTS reunion on 2025 will be massive. Im excited and looking forward to it. 💜💜💜The reasons why BTS are so loved are consistent anywhere in the world. 💜💜💜 BTS collaborations with Coldplay is a breakthrough as groups. I wish this will continue to the next generations💜

I have always been okay with bts going to the military, I think it could be a break and maybe even a learning experience. However, due to some recent suggestions from SK military officials I am starting to wonder if they are turning into a liability? It seems all the talk about the boys possibility performing for national events could affect training exercises and things like that. On top of that a lieutenant indicated he felt women would now start signing up to follow bts. Unfortunately, the strong intelligent women will not blindly follow this boys into the military. Any girls that will do that will be quite young, quite immature and very unlikely to handle military service. This will create more work for the officials. I'm also not sure of security in the military? I think SK culture will keep most away from trying anything, but there are a few of those types of people that might try something Unfortunately they do exist and these situations could again mess up things like training exercises. But, all this is just theory based on other interviews I have watched. Guess, I'm more just wondering if these liabilities are possible or even likely 💜

Learning experience... are you insane!!! It is well know that idols in the Sth Korean military are often victims of abuse not only from other enlistees but also officials. Thank God most foreign fans are not happy about this forced service and are Boycotting Sth Korea and Sth Korean products. Until the BTS,return as 7.

With what has happen to some of the KDrama actors who have completed their military commitment such as the fact their fellow soldiers taking naked pictures of them in the showers and posting them online. I'm extremely concerned as to what might happen to BTS members. I'm concerned for all the abuse they'll receive in that they will have to follow 'orders' that includes the army wanting to use them to perform for which they'll not even get paid but it will benefit those in control of BTS members. This is a huge issue and concern for the health and well being of BTS Members while serving their country in a military establishment.

@@eileencritchley4630 It isn't just K-Drama: Taemin had to be pulled from regular military duty and he was in the music section. Poor G-Dragon? People stood before his shower and watched; someone made a drawing with marks on his body to give it to his girlfriend who posted it Online; his medical data was posted online; visitors of other military personal demanded to see him like a zoo exhibit... there is a lot more... SK military has a bullying problem that leads to ca. 2 suicides a day and that seems high to me. (Not to mention a corruption problem) Furthermore there is also a sexual harressment problem (and rape) of female personal that is not punished. Which can lead to negative behaviour after service towards women as a whole as well. From what I heard the service is traumatizing - the honor bit sounds more like they want to convince themselves than anything. Fun Fact: It seems that the current SK president didn't serve either (so didn't probably aquiet a few of the politicians).

Most K-pop boy groups have enlisted before them. And there's a stigma as well as a penalty if they dont fulfill their obligation. And they wont disappear because boy groups before them have done it by performing in solos or in units.

I’m sure BTS will be great after return. My biggest worry is their safety, mental and physical well-being if we think about their huge popularity. We already know about terrifying and traumatic military experience of some other idols had. There are no guards, no personal space, privacy or breaks to rest. And all I can do is to pray when will be okay when back🙏

This group did not present an argument as to why the group should not go to the military. They are clueless to the appeal of the group and any fan is more than capable of expressing better knowledge and opinion. The Country will suffer monetary losses without the group. Additionally, since the government was unable to see their value or make a decision, those athletes and classical musicians SHOULD be required to serve in the military as well. Talk about hypocritical. ARMY will always support the boys and are proud that they, unlike others, had the balls to make the decision💜

I feel like all 3 of these people are struggling to make this a positive story about BTS. And I'm offended that they would take 1 Army's response at the Busan concert and make that the response of all Army's. Not all of use are happy with this. I respect BTS and love them whole-heartedly, but I feel like none of the members really have a desire to serve in the military. The younger people within the age range of BTS would feel like they should serve, especially if they are males because the thought is "if they have to go and serve then BTS shouldn't be exempted, no matter what other contributions they've made to the country" and they say this out of their own pettiness and jealousy. I feel like the South Korean government is horrible for this...they've used these guys to make profits and they couldn't do them a solid and exempt them from services...but you can give exemptions for athletes or classical musicians who've done far less and I mean far less for the country. I can't even name the athletes or classical artist that have received these elusive exemptions. The musical landscape in SK changes so fast...so I expect that BTS will struggle a bit when they do finish there service to gain momentum again. I just hope they have devised a plan to do something else, if they do not recover that will make them just as spotlight worthy and profitable. But I know if it was me...I'd move out of South Korea the minute I was discharged from the military...I wouldn't get married there or have my children in a country that would force this on them. South Korea has had since the early 1950's to work out their relationship issues with North Korea...and if they haven't succeeded in all of this time...that means they aren't trying. They've had since the 1950's to do away with a draft system and devise a system in which going to the military is not seen as a burden but they haven't. It's easy to force people than to work out a equitable and humane way of inspiring people to want to protect their country. My dad was drafted into the Vietnam War...and he's is lucky to have survived...and to return to America after when the country he was forced to go fight for didn't respect his service. I'm glad that the young people then fought for their rights here to lower the voting age to 18 years old, so they could have a voice over what happens in my country. Beside, if they could go die or rather be forced to fight, then they should have a voting voice in it. Maybe this will empower South Korea's youth and young adults to fight for a fairer system, and abolishment of forced conscription....after all that is what BTS message started out as...breaking the system! But that's just my small opinion.

BTS is not just any other boy band and the music they create is unique. They had the power to break barriers, spread love and positive influence, not only to the fans in their country but universally, like no other artist has done before. They are artists of the highest order. Their government was selfish not to give them an exemption. It wouldn't have been such a loss to their military, had they were exempted. BTS has touched and helped many ARMYs through most of our tough times. WE WILL WAIT FOR OUR BTS. Bring on 2025. The best is yet to come 🙂

How can I make South Korea understand that I follow BTS only, not K-pop, no other k-pop groups can shift my loyalty to BTS!!! I planned to visit Korea next April but now, I will wait until BTS reunite, period.
