This is how I feel about my wife Linda. She passed away on December 3, 2021. I have always loved this song, but now it is much more meaningful to me. We met in September 1969 and were married on June 16, 1971. She is God’s gift to me, a light of my life. We had 50 years together and 7 children. And I also know that some day through the power of Jesus Christ I will be with her again. ❤ - Matthew 16:19.

@rpmangin10 ай бұрын
Kind of ironic that Lou did not like Foreigner's previous ballad, "I Want to Know What Love Is," which is almost like this song, because he said it would destroy Foreigner's reputation as "rock stars" (although their first real transition into ballads started with "Waiting for a Girl Like You," to which Gramm did co-write the lyrics). Gramm was not involved in the authorship of this song nor "I Want to Know What Love Is;" both songs were composed entirely by group leader and guitarist/keyboardist Mick Jones (Jones did state he did like "I Want to Know What Love Is," noting it was "full of hope.).
@JDCUSA10 ай бұрын
@@rpmangin According to Lou Gramm, Lou did contribute to the writing of “I Want to Know What Love Is.” Lou said he sat down with Mick like they always did while discussing song writing credits. Lou wrote down that Mick should have 65 % and Lou should have 35 %. Mick wrote down that Mick should get 95 % and Lou only 5 %. Lou was so shocked and hurt that he told Mick to just take all 100 % which Mick gladly did. Lou said that really negatively impacted their relationship from that point on.

When the album came out in 1987 I was on the way to a school trip to Idar Oberstein. The class went out to eat in the afternoon and there was a record store in the same building. At the time, I obviously only had my Walkman with me, so out of boredom I bought this album knowing that you can't go wrong with Foreigner. The next day the album was playing up and down and everything around me was as usual...until around midday a female classmate came to me and asked me what I was listening to...I handed her an earplug and we heard the first ones a few songs together... She looked absolutely amazing, she smelled lovely and it happened during this very song 💘. She was exactly the woman I wanted... When we got back and school started again I changed and she didn't know why? At some point she grabbed my arm and looked me in the eyes and asked me to talk about what was going on and why there were tears on my face. I told her I loved her and I didn't know how this could happen. I forgot about you for many years, remembering you every now and then. Today I ask myself... Where are you, Marion Schieferstein 💞???

I remember this video when i was little, and the great thing about the video is that not only does the lyrics have a romantic meaning, it goes deeper than that. It's maternal, paternal. It's just pure. Although i knew nothing about life then, i felt something deep and meaningful through the images along with the lyrics. But, now that i have lost the most important person in my life i feel every lyric even more stronger. This songs is quite the little gem❤.

I bought the cassette 3 times back then, because I kept wearing it out. Only saw the video recently. They didn't have Mtv when this came out and nobody would show it. Great video.

My little girl used to sing along with it to me and she would sing so sweet and I never knew how that would impact me. She died 2/28/18 from a drug overdose. During her celebration of life we held for her it was one of the songs I played. 💔

I feel so fortunate and grateful to be part of a generation who grew up listening to this wonderful music...so pure, full of life and melodies which melted even the toughest hearts, inviting us to enjoy every moment to its fullest. Real music by real talented people, which will live forever in each and every one of our souls.

I have 5 favorite songs downloaded on my phone and this is #1. I just love it. Lou Gramm's captivating voice and the musical arrangement sooth the soul. It speaks to all of us that have treasured love. The band's best years are were when Lou sang and co-wrote songs with Mick Jones. When Lou left the band, the sparkle of creativity for songwriting was never the same.

"Song is beautiful...memories of being with my dearly departed....but god needed him more...in this cold Covid world life for me will never be the same..my advice to anyone who has met THE ONE..folks cherish every hand-hold...every kiss...ladies the way he stares at you...fellas treat her like a queen...because you never know what the future might bring....god bless everyone"

I love this song. I don't know why they don't play this song on the radio these days. One of the best videos ever.
@jerryhuffar65613 ай бұрын
Corporate radio has a small tight play list. Reached #4 in 1988. If it wasn't a #1 or #2 hit they won't play. Sad but true. Corporate radio has lost a lot of good songs and that why you don't hear it anymore.

We can bring it back. All of us can. I myself make edits on 80s movies and 80s songs. On KZbin people don't care for them. But on TikTok they really appreciate it.
