What a great fucking song! I havent heard this in decades. Just heard part of it on SiriusXM and had to hear the whole thing. WOW! A little tinge of Kansas in this to me. Mick Jones and Lou Graham what an Amazing duo of performers and songwriters. The 70s were the best!

Lou is my fav because he's a local for me. A little fact about this song: this song is about the muscle car street racing that was happening on Lave Avenue in Rochester, NY near Lake Ontario and the Genesee River. Was I one of those that raced? Back then, yes. 1971 Dodge Dart that was HEAVILY customized and really wasn't street legal anymore. I didn't win all the time, but I didn't lose all the time either. While this song nails the description of what it was like on a Friday or Saturday night there, it wasn't like this was the anthem of the racers. But it was played a lot! Good times, people....... good times..... Red line the tach, loose the clutch and feel the car's front end rise as the tires scream....

Note all the references to Rochester, NY. "Running all night on Lake Avenue" is about Lou Gramatico drag racing on the long straight just North of Kodak Park. And Yes, he did get arrested and had to appear before a City Judge.
