From what I could find, “Johnny” was actually Dameon, and after the case had concluded has had nightmares about “The green monster”, but as time went on, and with going to counseling, he has gotten better. As of 2019, he’s a motorcycle enthusiast and is working at a manufacturing factory in Ohio. Jack and Linda would be very proud of the man he’s grown up to today.

The acid treatment works wonders. It's also effective on old coins with those in which the dates have wore off. Johnny would be about 23 now. God be with him always.

That green envious monster, just like the boy described. Greg's alcohol and drug problems coupled with financial issues is a bad combination. His time sheet, fake shoe size, trying to scratch off the serial number on the gun, the self made silencer with the tape, the gloves LOL. He made the wonderful choice of allowing the investigators to find all the evidence they needed when simply dumped it in the creek. After that, Greg was up the creek without a paddle.

They say phrases like that so they don't get sued probably. Another phrase they use a lot is "the evidence suggests that...".

Divorced, financial difficulties, drug and alcohol problems and house near foreclosure. At 25 year’s old, at any age these thing’s can seem overwhelming. Calm down. Here and now, is the end of nothing. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.

I like how the guy said "They were definitely concerned that the killer would go free unless they did a lot of work to put the case together" meaning they didn't want to do a lot of work to solve the case lol

No matter how clever the bad guys seem to be, most often professional investigators are able to put the pieces together. Yes, it might involve a stroke of luck like finding a fingerprint inside a latex glove but first the glove has to be found. Next, someone has to bother to look even though the glove had been under water for days. The bad guy tries to throw off the scent so to speak but remember, they do this once or twice usually while the professional investigators have been at it for an entire career. They also have the experiences of earlier generations of investigators. Throw in modern forensic sciences, DNA etc. and the bad guys are at a serious disadvantage.

Analysis is good. But perfect crimes are never caught!! So we don't get the opportunity to watch them in TV shows. I have seen them. They happen. The perfect crimes.

@@tapentadol549 If they were 'perfect crimes', no one would even be aware that a crime had occurred. This would include you. I suspect that this is very, very rare. Then there are the crimes that are known about but involve a scene with zero forensic evidence. I suspect that this is also extremely rare. I once read that an FBI homicide investigator stated that there are about thirty-five specific ways for the criminal to leave evidence, about which the best of criminals know about a dozen. That leaves a plethora of ways for the criminal to muck it up without even knowing they're mucking up. Then there is good old human nature, although the nature of criminals like murderers is seldom good. As many an experienced detective has noted, when a case goes cold, time is on their side. Far more often than not, someone knows something and sooner or later, someone talks. It may be over a few drinks in a bar somewhere. "You know old so-and-so who got whacked fifteen years ago? Let me tell you about that." The talker may be peripheral to the case but info is info. It may have been Winston Churchill who said, "Three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead". Almost daily, you can read about cold cases that finally get solved, sometimes many decades after the event. Human remains turn up, a cold case investigator goes over the evidence with a fresh set of eyes (surprisingly effective) or someone finally talks. Yes, there are cases that never get solved. In most of them, detectives have a good idea "who done it", but the available evidence won't meet the burden of proof in a courtroom. Something is missing that would finally get to "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt". Then again, that something just might turn up... eventually.
