jubair Ahmed Nope, you have to correct the paint before you apply it if you want to get the best looks and best bond possible. At least a finishing polish and IPA wipedown before you apply, as it doesn’t bond well to “dirty” clear coat and you can get patchy spots that are much more hydrophobic than the rest. Good prep work goes with any wax really, but the really high performers make poor preps much more apparent.

There are so many Great products in the retail world these days. We could argue that with the introduction of internet shopping all detailing products are retail. I remember the introduction of the wax called “MER” from Germany in a light blue bottle circa 1980s. It was great stuff but a real nightmare to wipe off. I was still using it on my own car up until it ran out in the mid 2000s🤣🤣. John, another great Video as usual , keep them rolling👍

I've used Autoglyms UHD wax since it came out. It's by far the best wax I've used on my black car. The beading, the easy application and the application pad is brilliant. Oh and it smells so good too. A work colleague walked past my car last summer and he said he could smell it and it smells nice... Just from walking past it! He didn't even know I waxed the car. Anyway, great video and comparison

Collinite 476s. Excellent value and excellent durability. Especially good against salty winter conditions. 11 months is the best longevity I have gotten out of it. Finish kare 1000p. Good value and heat resistance. Bad against salty winter conditions. Fusso F7. Easy 7 months through the winter. Rear and sides were nearly gone but the rest still had a good amount of original properties left. CG Jetseal. Easy +6 months. Lots of waxes/sealants make it to 4-6 months but those three can handle more in my experience.

Very interesting video Jon with some results I wasn't expecting! Of the ones tested I have and use the AG UHD and the Farecla G3 Super Gloss. I do agree that the hydrophobicity of UHD is just a little bit better but having looked at some of my photos of beads from both, there isn't much in it. Application I also think the G3 wins and by quite a margin as well. I like that you can make your way around the full car then grab your towels and buff off in the order applied. I found with this it gave a perfect 25-30 min cure time for the wax to fully cure/harden resulting in removal being effortless. UHD I actually don't find the easiest to use. Cure time needs to be observed carefully and I also find it can be a little difficult to spread a nice even layer of it. Get it right though and it's spot on, I just think the application runs the risk of user error. Great video though Jon, thoroughly enjoyed it. Going to drop you a message bud as I have a proposition for you 😉

Got the UHD in a bundle with the UHD wash for £36 from Halfords in the after Xmas offers. (As others have mentioned). I’d been watching a huge amount of your content but now I realised I actually had no decent products. We are talking a gallon of turtle wax wash and wax, some of the ebay Chinese ‘3M’ clay, a dodgy sealant from about 5 years ago from ebay and some SRP (it has its place on my old cars). Got to say that I’d been planning on getting the ancient rotary polisher out at some point.......but....and this is my point. The UHD wash and wax got my cars so clean and shiny I was blown away, so much of an improvement over old school cheap retail stuff. I don’t think I had ever properly waxed a car up to that point, easy to use and not super critical of prep. Properly clean, dry and waxed for me is where its at...in fact I think you should go back to basics sometime. Clean, mask small flaws and wax from a retail type combo of kit on the typical older car.

Same, and more forgiving in my opinion. By that I mean, no need to clay first, no need to worry about rubbing in to spread (and potentially marring if you haven't clayed/polished before). And if you use one that can be applied while drying, way quicker.

Great review! I tend to think of value as being a combination of quality, performance AND cost. Cheap waxes might look like good value but the biggest investment is surely in the hours of cleaning, application and buffing. If one is more expensive but shines and beads for months makes my car easier to clean - I’ll take that over a cheap price tag where I’ll be underwhelmed with a couple of weeks. I’ll give the AG a shot and see how it fairs against my staple Colly 845 👍

Great video, I like Dodo Juice and Collonite

I use DoDoJuice Purple Haze, closely resembles the Autoglym being buttery smooth with no cracking and very tall beads. Though I use Fast Finish now really.

Do you know if the tint effect would work well on a pearlescent grey colour? I have just bought a tub of Dodo Juice Blue Velvet Pro for about £6. I've never used Dodo Juice on dark coloured cars before.

This is interesting to see. I'm currently doing a test between Meg's gold class, Meg's Ultimate, chem guys jet seal, Meg's mirror glaze synthetic sealent 2.0 and car pro reload that's the same kinda testing you did. But then after the durability I repolisished and reapplied them and have the test panel sitting outside in the weather to see which lasts the longest.

lemme know results.. megs syth2.0 should win that.. or jet seal... megs 2.0 is silicone polymer i think.. jetseal acyrilic polymer.. harder to observe jetseal its less hydrophobic. megs ultimate is not great on durability though from what I seen. or should I say detergerent resistence.

Excellent video as always mate!! I've used the Meg's Ultimate paste wax a few times before. I too was disappointed with the water behaviour, which started off 'okay' and died off after a single wash. But as you showed it's a very glossy wax. I still use it as a sealant from time to time but it always gets topped with something like a detail spray or somthing like Beadmaker. However, within these sort of price categories I always turn to either Fusso Coat if I'm in the mood for beading, Collinite 476S as the 'old reliable', or Bilt Hamber Double Speed wax for the gloss and water behaviour. They all end up getting topped with something like Beadmaker, BSD, QED or somthing else after a couple of weeks as I just can't resist spending time with a plush microfiber and an excuse to spray something on the clear-coat 😅 Thanks as always, Jason

So far my results of using megs ultimate have been pretty good. Still some protection since applying in November. However I am just about to start using fusso soft 99 dark as a base layer for durability and put something over the top a few days later for gloss. Not sure what yet though.
@longden575 жыл бұрын
@@TheFazer1992 I would imagine that Beadmaker would make an excellent topper for Fusso Coat, especially as the hydrophobicity of Fusso Coat will likey show through the Beadmaker, while maintaining that super slick feel you get with both products.

Good review - wish I'd seen this before buying the Meguiars wax. I too found the durability to be poor and pretty much gone after a few washes. I don't want to have to be waxing every few weeks!

I out of all of the waxes I've used i like the ultimate paste wax. It smells nice too. I'm interested now in some higher end stuff. I could justify the extra cost if they perform that much better. Please do some more reviews
@ForensicDetailing5 жыл бұрын
with wax, you could say you have performance in terms of durability, gloss ,ease of application, what materials its laying down and how they protect the car... But you can get a lot of performance from cheap wax if your on a budget. typically if you go higher end you might be getting something thats more beutique. You will be hard pressed to find a wax that lasts as long and is as repellent as fusso for example. A 200 pound wax per say doesnt mean its going to last longer. A lot of times its just where the brand places the value of their products. saying that theres some very expensive waxes which I would love to own. Scholl Vintage wax, nothing ground breaking costs a fortune but I really like it. Enigma wax from AW. costs a fortune but again I like it. not really because it will outperform fusso. I just sort of just like it. Some of the swisswax waxes as well I would liek to own because of their wax making pedigree. but yer a pot of collenite or double speed or kiwami will do the job as well.

Hello John. Hi detailing viewers. I have a few old containers of wax & detailing spray indoors. They are about 7 years old. Is there a shelf life on these products? The particular products are : Dodo juice Light Fantastic 30ml Chemical guys V7 Dodo juice Rainforest Rub 30ml I'm thinking about applying them to my car soon. I'd rather not throw them out if they're perfectly safe to use. Any comments about old products welcome.

i wish a pro detailer would come to you and gave some of those ceramic coating which are available only for the pros. Like Kamikaze zipang gold, Gyeon Q2 mohs+ and Carpro cquartz professional to see if there is a lot of difference compared to those which are available for everyone.
