It will happen to you, trust me. Video 4 of the Forex Trading Psychology series talks about how our emotions are out of whack when we're winning, and how we can prevent this from ruining us permanently.
We tackle things on a Macro level, which is how you wrongly think and adjust during those times when you're doing nothing but winning.
We also tackle things on a Micro level -- those times when you're currently in a winning trade, and how we just can't let thing be.
This video may not apply to you right now, but it will. And you'll be glad it's here for you to refer back to.

My VP , you must be a prophet. You simply just analyze what's just happened to me. I made $1000 with $100 account within 3days. But I eventually lost $500 within 8hours.

I really appreciate VP's commitment to his privacy. Name and Face doesn't matter because the fame doesn't matter. It's all about the passing on of information, and the results in regards to which kind of forex program works best. Everything else is a waste of time and cuts into your schedule, and basically serves as a distraction from more important things.

This video couldn't be more spot on. I find myself closing winning trades too soon in fear of them turning into a loser. And I'm up 12% this month so watching this video has helped me have more realistic expectations of the future. Without this video I have a feeling I may have given up when the next few months don't go as well. Thanks for everything you do VP!

Seeing your playlist popularity reminds me of the 80/20 rule, well for me at least. easily 80% of my progress thus far were from 20% of the videos, and most of them were related to money management or psychology, and everything just fits really slowly but steadily. Thanks VP.

I watched this with great interest. I've had the good fortune to meet with and work with a wide range of traders. One thing I was taught, but rarely witnessed was the "after the trade". Euphoria, high-fiving and going out for drinks when the pip gods saw fit to reward us and the dismal wails when pips were soaked up by the brokers. But...hardly anybody ever really went to see what went wrong (a little guilty here, but not always). Everything mentioned in this video; overleveraging, over trading, taking trades off too soon, not soon enough, chasing trades, trying to catch tops and bottoms, et al., there is a powerful lesson to be learned here - control of your emotions and using your skills as a trader to investigate why a trade became a loss. Solve that mystery and your win percentage may reflect your efforts. I once read that really good traders (the elite) were so emotionally aloof (because they follow their system religiously) that not only were they not affected by wins or losses, but that trading was "boring". Can you imagine that? If that's the bar we need to strive for, then I know I've got my work cut out for me! In the meantime, study, backtest, journal...repeat.

Thanks for this one! One thing that trips me up is letting the trade breathe after I place my trade. It's easy to feel good when you enter a trade and it's going the direction you want. Much harder when you see it getting closer to the stop-loss lol. Those three simple points are cemented at the top of my notes haha

If ive taken one thing from VP its that you never move your stop loss to take more losses. He advocates a SL in his trading algorithm, Im not really sure this is best, I prefer a trailer over a fixed SL. Thats just me but im working in demo so if it doesnt work out il just start again. I use oanda demo so there is no reset exactly but you can make as many sub accounts as you would like, probably for the best so I can see how many accounts I would blow up before I make it. Im going to rename each blown sub if they happen with just the number of days and the plan used.

Is funny, because people first tend to not pay attention to psychology until they have experienced the market in its true form. Until you have a truly experience in the market when you don't know what to do, or what Happened, why you didn't close THAT trade, or you blew your account for real ( or almost) you'll definitely be searching for books and videos of psychology in forex like a guy searchs for water in the desert... But it's okay, you'll come back to these types of videos, is just a matter or time. Also ppl think psychology is overrated in the first stages (like position sizing) without knowing that those are the two things big traders drills the most...but oh well... I do like them so I'll keep watching them, ty VP

What fool would choose not to watch the psychology videos? If that is a traders mindset, you know they are not in this for the long haul. I just watched this one a second time, as I do most of the videos. What I keep finding is that the second time around I will catch something in the lesson, or find more significance in one detail that I didn’t the first. This happens as I continue to gain experience in my trading with this system, and experience something VP mentioned that I hadn’t previously experienced. What this tells me is that the content is very detailed, and very rich. I’m in for the long haul. I have no idea how anyone can jump into this game and see big gains right off the bat, apart from blind dumb luck. I’ve always said I’m the most UNlucky person on earth. Anything good that happens in my life comes through time, discipline, and hard work. This might take years. So be it

Reflecting back at the scaling out video where VP said he aims to beat Warren Buffett's average annual of over 20%, there is a way. Either aim for a 1,5% daily rate or compounded 7.73% weekly rate. If the first trade met and closed your profit target while the other is running, aim for profit that can meet the daily or weekly return. After a month, a 30% return in a single month can be achievable but like VP said, stick to the trading system, stay away by letting the market do its thing and repeat. Thanks VP for true forex guidance 🙂

philip coker it’s worth putting in the time - I’ve been demo trading the no nonsense way with a 80% win rate over 6 months and I’m now moving to a live account. I agree with VP. I have learnt a lot each time I wiped out my account (4 time to be precise). I gave a critical though about what went wrong each time each. I thing it was more to do with trading psychology. When I was demo trading with same or similar tools, I was winning (well I think i was) but when real money comes into play, it was hard to control emotions. I am still learning to control emotions but I can say now, a system, even a crape one, will trade better then emotional you.

Good idea before making an abrupt change to a system is journal out what you saw on charts and why you want to change it. Once you do that most the time you realize that your acting on emotions and the energy from those emotions won't go away but be weaker and easier to manage. Emotion willways be apart of us learn recognize them so they dont have a hold on you so you can execute your system. Awesome video and I totally agree with it. I was exposed to money management early on, cut losses short let winners run, this is a long term game etc. It was funny how many of the axioms and trade ideas are true but none of them enter your soul and mind until you did the opposite and fucked up. Then and only then after you do it again is when the rules become apart of you. This maybe different for the ladies but us guys are thick headed

VP must be tracking me somehow because this is LITERALLY the stage I’m at right now. I have been absolutely crushing it with my system. However I’m already starting to see where I’m having emotional attachments to scaling out. Reminds me of Dr Seuss. ‘Oh the places you’ll go’. Those that have read will know. BTW, an absolute must for kids....and adults. Really.

I can say for the past week since I have started using your system. Using basic indicators from mt4, my trading has drastically improved and I went into over trading frenzy almost immediately. Just because of the results and all the opportunities that just opened up. But this week I am taking a step back and analyzing more to taking better trades.

interested in knowing your thoughts on the Fisher Transform. It has provided a really clear and effective confirmation indicator for me lately. for me this indicator is not about finding trades but avoiding bad trades when the Fisher Transform is not low enough.

It was perfect timing I came across this video, I feel so stupid now. I was upping the risk on NVDA before the correction went from risking 10% got complacent and double down to 20% and the pull back was real. I feel dazed. Thank god it was a small account. I redid the math you mentioned 1 to 2% is a more realistic outcome that is sustainable like you mentioned. I was looking at the market wrong. I was looking for trades that give me 3 to 4% per trade and I just open it with disregard to the 2% “per month” rule. I should be aiming a lot smaller and trade less emotional on a 25k account that mean I should aim for 1% at 250 bucks a month that would mean I should aim for 50 buck incremental gain per week. This may not seem a lot but growing it at 2x after 5 year and adding money each month when you hit 100k portfolio 1000 per month at 200 week is a lot now. Stable and safe. Can you provide tips for people who mess up bad like I’m down 75k. how can we come back using a conservative model

I like what you said about trying to outsmart the system by trading with your brain. I would say the system is not smarter than a human brain because it doesn't think, but just does as told, which is consistency. Consistency is more important than being smart. Like Bruce Lee once said, "I am not afraid of a kung fu master who knows thousands of moves, but I am afraid of the one who has practiced one move thousands of times." If you practice any move thousands of times, that move is going to be deadly. Society has told us that we need to know more and be smarter, but in reality, you only need to have an average IQ + consistency to succeed. Warren Buffet said, "you only need an IQ of 120 to do what I do." In real life, he gets up at 7 every single day to watch the news, read reports... He's been consistently doing that for 70 or so years. Ray Dalio said in his book, "you spend 20% of time to learn 80% of one thing and 80% of time learn the other 20%." I guess most people don't have the patience to spend 80% of their time digging deeper to fully understand something.

Honestly i think psychology should be #1. its like you said VP, "it doesnt matter how good your system or management will be, you will fuck up if your psychology is wack" The mind is everything.

Hey VP, keep the videos coming. I always had trouble walking away from trades. I would spend hours watching them, babysitting (trade-sitting) and end up wasting half a day just to close them in fear or stop out for couple pips or worse. It was pretty defeating. I entered a short trade today using my recently refined algo and went to work for 5 hours. Came back to the position to find it up 19 pips and still moving. Could you do a video about babysitting your positions? Oh, I guess that would be a short one, "stay the fuck out of the way"!
