Get WPO x Terminator now on Android, iOS and Windows for FREE here: gmlft.co/ThatWorks-WPO-Q42021 Win a T-800 Terminator Skull Box! We have teamed up with Will Stelter for our first colab. As a team we forge a Damascus cleaver with a wrought iron body. ‪@WillStelterbladesmith‬ forges some Hex mosaic Damascus that he started at Matt Harris' Hammer in. He then forges 3 bars of that into one bar and then Matt twists that bar the become the edge bar. The body and handle of our cleaver is forged by Chris and then the wrought iron and Damascus are forge welded together and the final shape of the cleaver is formed by striking with Will and Chris working together. The final outcome is striking and top notch quality as well as cutting geometry. Sit back and enjoy this colab and whiteness that its ok to have fun while making a serious blacksmithing and bladesmithing project.

@Apentogo Look if there are better ways to do an old thing you use them. He is not going to have 14 people making blade blanks and he finishes them. Thats exactly how production in blades was done. Now hand made pieces not so much just took forever. Exploration is key to improving things. He has done by book stuff. Most blacksmiths aren’t ignoring equipment use. However Alec going to Britain was a mistake. Many warmed him to not go. Ill be surprised if his business can self sustain without him present. Sometimes you have to say no. Guess now he will buy a home over there and be some kind of DIY home flipper and interview guy.

@@skrimper Um it was a step up. Its called improving your process. His screwing up of things and trying things never stopped. He is just simply skilled now in terms of doing things. If anything what he is doing now is going backwards away from black smithing. He is just making a new shop, yay. Next itll be a new country to do it all again.

love the music, adds great atmosphere, and good job keeping the hammering sounds in too. Thank you for not making the mistake that a lot of producers/channels do of thinking we don't want to hear the hammering and tool sounds and grinding. a mix of both is good. Think of it like TopGear, i want to hear the music (that helps tell the story and set the tone) and the epic engine sounds, if you leave one of them out the other becomes meaningless.

I have learned a lot from reading the comments! Not always good suggestions but there have been a bunch that add to the production of these videos.
@EleanorPeterson
@EleanorPeterson 2 жыл бұрын
@@ThatWorks - Ah, well... Never mind. Speaking purely for myself, I can't stand music in this kind of video; it's like being forced to listen to a so-called live studio audience's orchestrated responses to a lame TV sit-com. If a theatre play or TV comedy programme's genuinely funny it plays in silence to an appreciative audience. No laugh-track, no 'mood music'. I don't need telling when to laugh or what to laugh at or what I ought to be feeling when something sad happens. When a video like this - on an infinitely fascinating subject - is playing, I'd really rather just hear the same workshop sounds, ambience and banter that the guys involved are hearing. Why treat us differently? What have we done wrong to deserve missing out on all the good bits? If you feel the need to vary things and expand the video's dynamic range, a quietly-spoken voice-over is a viable option, perhaps explaining the intricacies of the current process, but music just kills the atmosphere of intelligent craftsmanship stone dead (in my opinion). Music is a sop to casual viewers who are easily bored by the subject matter and who'd prefer to be watching something else. But this kind of video isn't boring; it's brilliant, and the sort of people who will appreciate it most are in no danger of switching off just because they can't dance to it. So... I hate the music. I suppose that makes me a freak, but so be it. There's always the option to mute, but that loses 50% of the enjoyment of the creative process. Aw, poo. 😞

Maybe a historic build would be nice to see Will Stelter do, but those usually usually take a lot of time. Or maybe it's nice if the both of you write a description of a knife/sword/whatever cuts and the other has to build it using their own imagination in their own workshop. In the end compare both builds and see if it matches the description.
