A beautiful blade...nicely concealed by an under-stated sheath. 👍 The individual who commissioned that blade values (IMO) modesty over bling...a trait that should be more common nowadays.

I'm a devotee of your channel but totally ignorant of metal working practices. One thing you often do, which mystifies me is when you make shallow drill marks all over the billet before final forging. What is its purpose, please?

it penetrates the upper layers , when pressed afterwards it gives a drop pattern in the steel
