Nicole I totally agree. Sometimes we are taught what NOT to be and that is the more valuable lesson. I too was taught what NOT to be.

My sons Dad did the same - my son is a youth pastor he was giving a message to a group of high school youth about Forgiving - Before the message even began God spoke to My Son and said you can not give this message until you forgive your Biological dad my son told the youth group and left right then and went and told his Dad that he forgave him for leaving and never having anything to do with him this was for 30 plus years. So thankful God does what is needed for our peace !

My Dad wasn't abusive, he abandoned me twice in my life...when he left my mother when I was 3, and 4 years ago when he took his life. It's hard to forgive, and it's a daily effort to forgive.

I too have a father that’s a alcoholic. It’s been probably at least 40 years since I talked to him. Something within me kept telling to me to reach out. So, about 3 months ago I did. I wasn’t sure if I had the correct address. It took about another month before I heard back. He was surprised by the letter. Since then we have been writing back and forth. It’s a very slow process, but that’s how he wants to communicate. I now have closure since he answered my questions. I also told him that I have forgiven him for everything.

I’m so happy for you. I hope it has brought you healing and peace. It took a lot of courage to reach out and forgive. I had to forgive my Mom for years of alcoholism and the abuse that comes with that. I know it’s not easy. I’ll pray you and your Dad continue to communicate in a positive way and that it brings you closer. ❤

To the mom of littles!! Give it to God, I once heard that the things we worry about the most are the things we trust God with the least!

I would add that, seeing that she has a new baby, to consider counseling for postpartum anxiety. Lack of sleep doesn't help either. Make sure you are eating well and getting exercise. All those things can really contribute to excessive anxiety. Keep praying. God is faithful to guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus when we tell Him what we need!

Zach, I am so sorry that you had to go through the abuse that you did but I am so glad that you want to reach out to him. If we cant forgive someone else's mistakes, how can God forgive us? Do your part and leave the ball in his court. It will be up to him to return that forgiveness. If he doesn't, then you have done what God would want you to do!!! Keep your head up and move forward, with or without him. I know you would like for it to be with him.

This mom has a 6 month old, she could very easily be struggling with postpartum anxiety! To the momma, please seek some counseling. I've struggled with it before, it's not that you lack faith, you are going to Christ for all your worries and that shows faith! Irrational fears are very difficult, they will only submit to prayer. Keep praying. Read the book praying circles around my children and praying scriptures for my kids. I also recommend the book mom enough. Find someone to talk to that can help you, churches usually have counseling services. Please know you are not alone!

Great podcast as usual! One of the highlights of my Monday! If you're doing a podcast tour, please come to Wisconsin! Not sure what kind of venue you'd need (conference center, school auditorium, theater, church?) If you go to Green Bay, you could probably kill two birds with one stone and also preach at the church my sister attends. I know she (and the rest of my family) would love if you and Amber could come and speak!

Agree 100% with the answer to the mom on what to do if she struggles with anxiety and worry over her children. As a Christian man it seems like Christian women specifically mothers often struggle more with this than men when it comes to worry over children. I am a man so I am not sure. Would you agree? I know this is your podcast and not mine so please take my opinions verity lightly, but I don't agree with the harshness answer that she does not know God (isn't made righteous) since she worries over her children. Possibly when you said this it wasn't meant to be as harsh as I took it 😂 Love you brother!! Keep it up! Bring Piper on as a guest!!!

I think he was saying she doesn't really know God's character if she did she would be able to trust Him with her children. We can believe and trust God for salvation but still not trust Him for everything else. Granger is so right until we understand that God is sovereign we have a hard time totally trusting Him.
