Woah, I have never seen thick gooier constipated crap like this in a rear end housing. I've seen some stuff but this is by far the best reason to "check your rear end" before you hit the road with an old car that's been sitting for a long time. Check with Yukon gears as they make a bullet proof posi for the 9". Great video, I love old Fords, have a few myself.

that looked a lot easier that I thought it would be considering the problems you had with the diff. A friend just bought a 67 Mustang and was wanting to convert it over to disc. Watching this video makes me think we can handle it no problem and I will certainly tell him about Leed Brakes conversion kits.
@Theoldcarchannel.5 жыл бұрын
Front brake swap is extremely easy. 4 nuts and the outer bearing hardware (cotter pin, nut retainer that the coter pin slides through, main bearing nut (loosens with a pair of pliers) washer and then bearing.) Whole drum assembly slides right off. Clean the old grease off, clean spindle surface, install caliper bracket, dust shield, tighten 4 mounting bolts, slide rotor with inner bearing and seal installed/ greased, then outer bearing and hardware, slide the caliper on and tighten the 2 mounting bolts, hook up the new (longer) flexs lines and you're done. Sounds like a lot in text but it's really... REALLY easy! The rear takes a little more time but is also very do able. Definitely send your buddy the video and give Leed a call/email. Let them know about this video, and hopefully he'll find what he's looking for👍 Cheers, Mike

We had one come in like that at the dealership I worked at. We sprayed the axle tubes and center housing with degreaser after getting the chunks out then hit it with a pressure washer then air dry with air, spray with degreaser then blow it off again.

As for axle tubes, you can most likely find an engine cleaning brush (something at a hardware store?) of approx. same size that'd be long enough to brush out axle tubes with brake clean or mineral spirits. As for the diff itself? same cleaning fluid and elbow grease...
