I absolutely loved this! My dad "Skip" "RIP" and his best friend "John" bought the first model during there senior year of HS, on the title it is a 1964-1/2 mustang fastback, It had the 289 hi-po..aka high output (acronym)..yeah they got the fastest one they could! (later in life owning the 2 largest junkyards in Detroit between them they obviously took immuclate care of it ...what a car! black exterior with a super small silver pinstripe on the side, and white leather interior! It got half burned in a garage fire but thankfully it was only paint and chrome damage, and it is in fully restored condition as of rn, My parents used to lay the back seat down and cruise Gratiot from Mt. Clemens to downtown Detroit and back on Saturday nights in the early 90's and I would look through that giant fastback window at the stars...best memories of my life! ty for bringing me back to that!!!!!!!!!

For the viewers of this channel- The block casting number is on the lower side of the block by the starter. It will usually be C5OE-6015A if a 1965, C6OE for a 1966, etc. You will need to pull the starter to see the number. The date code for the casting is there too.

there is a difference in ford starters on ford/Lincoln starters there is a additional spacer on the end of the shaft between the Bendix drive and the hogs nose bushing. I know this for a fact because when I hand a starter put in my 87 Lincoln. The shop went threw 6 starters before we saw the difference. From dealing with Mercury/Lincoln line of the ford line. I have found the 5 liter (302) made in Canada need this spacer about 5/16 of a inch to work properly. The second I heard the noise and the Bendix not disengaging. I knew the trouble was. On the backing plate use some flat washers to move the starter back 1/8 of an inch. you may have to do some custom work on the washers to get them to fit right.

302 will have a larger harmonic balancer, cast iron water pump of that vintage. Early 289's (up to 65) had aluminum water pumps. Also, 289 heads will work on a 302, 260 or 351w. Lastly, check the bolt pattern on the bellhousing early 289's will be 5 bolt and later 66 up will be 6 bolt. Starters can be either 3 and 4 speed manual trans vs auto trans. Also ford went to rail style rockers in 66 vs non rail in 65. Good job keep up the work.... Next time pour trans fluid in the oil. and run it till hot the trans fluid will remove gunk...

For the record, Ultra Black RTV will work as a stand-alone carb gasket for a loooooong time (scrap hardwood + light coating of RTV = lifetime carb spacer). Ultra Black RTV has also entirely sealed an unrideable Yamaha xs750 with a blown-out cylinder base gasket (half-quart leak every ~10 miles) from the OUTSIDE for over 20,000 miles. Obey Permatex's curing instructions and the stuff is more bulletproof than you'd guess. I'm not suggesting this as your daily go-to fix of course, but coming from a guy who isn't afraid to... the shit works. Cool videos guys, glad to see people keeping the fire burning.

It’s a skill share add and the original video audio starts it off with “…oww I took a metal p34is to the forehead” just as the skill share logo pops up. I know it’s an old video but it may be an issue with other classic JYD videos. Just a heads up bud. This looks like a great one. Take care!!!

Yeah, the Ford Winsdor blocks are pretty good engines. About 4 years ago my dad and I bought a Ford Fairlane with a small block 289 in it that had been sitting since 1980 when the transmission went out and the family parked the car. Fuel filter, spark plug cables, distributor cap and cleaning the plugs was all we needed to run the car with a red jerry can straight to the carb. We didn't even have a key because the family had lost it, we hotwired it from the started solenoid, lol.

ice wolf1239, why do you say "it's going to be"? Is there a reason you two can't work on it now? Because there might be in the future.

My dad had a 65 Poppy Red Fastback as his first car until he flipped her head over heels a few times. Have always had an affinity for these fastbacks, great find and thanks for bringing it back to life!

Love the flash of lightning at 46:41 Excellent Mustang, I too have a fondness for the orange with black accent colour scheme. The snarl of a Windsor small-block is music for the soul. Keep up the good work! (and having fun too ;) )

Awesome video here, so enjoyable to watch. Been subbed to C&C for a while now and after watching your latest video with Mook, I thought I’d explore your channel more. Watched this episode and slapped that subscribe button as soon as I finished. That Mustang sounds so damn good. Congrats on reviving that beast. Hope you do more collaborations together.
